I actually had the batteries not ejecting problem when I first got my steam controller (use eneloop pro batteries). A few layers of masking tape over the internal lever that ejects the battery was enough to make it work. The lever was just slightly to short. I don't know if they ever changed the lever size to solve the problem. Batteries with a sharp 90 degree negative end with no rounding on the edge seem to get stuck in my steam controller. I'm still using the same sets of batteries from when the steam controller was first released. I usually get 4 to 8 weeks out of each set depending on how much I play.

aderek79 interesting fix for that problem. And yeah, the SC has fantastic battery life. 4 to 8 weeks is so much better than any other controller that I've used.

Very nice. Calling it 'brand new' raised an eyebrow tho ;)

Matt Tagg Honestly I don't even recall saying that. Now I feel like I need to go back through the script and find where that is :)

It't an incredible controller, so ahead of it's time. However it's also pretty advanced, so I do agree with you, that it can be a bit intimidating for newcomers.

I just checked and there is certainly something buggy happening in the latest stable branch. It have to swap them 3 or 4 times before they actually become Unique. Though I also noticed a visual bug where it will still say Shared even though it has been changed to unique. I'm going to submit a bug report regarding it and hopefully it will be patched in the next stable release. In the mean time, you could switch to the beta branch and see if the issue persists.

That Other Guy interesting. I wonder if this is also missing in other users' feeds. Regardless, it's 99% the same as the old "Steam Controller and You" video but only covers the hardware aspect and Lizard Mode. The software aspect has been rolled into its own series "Steam Input Essentials."

Caine1911 Thanks for the heads-up. It's times like this that I wish KZfaq would either be more transparent about their algorithm or that a competitor could actually succeed. For the time being, it looks like you need to click that bell next to the subscribe button. It's such a dumb system but that appears to make it so that you'll see every single video. Alternatively, you could also follow me on Twitter (@CritComposer) or subscribe to my blog (bryanrumsey.wordpress.com) where I'll always post about a new video but that isn't an elegant solution, it's more of a band-aid fix for YT's atrocious systems.
