They get lots of accolades as a rock band but ZZ Top is a blues band. And the Reverend Billy F. Gibbons? Is there a cooler front man? That playing? That voice? EPIC! Stay safe everyone. Cheers from Florida.

I've been fortunate to have seen ZZ Top live several times and Billy Gibbons is always amazing! A couple of the first times I saw them, they had huge stage productions too. From giant dashboard gauges with the silhouettes of women dancing behind them, huge high-voltage power line towers with glowing red wires, conveyor belts built into the stage floor so they could walk without moving or move without walking, a junkyard stage which included a crane that "picked Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons up" and dropped them into a compactor. When they emerged from the compactor, they were "crushed" into scrap metal cubes with only their heads sticking out. The cubes drove like go-carts around the stage then opened up to reveal they had now switched to the fuzzy, pink guitars. Of course, "Legs" was the next song. They still tour, minus the huge productions, and you should definitely try to go see them!

Saw them live twice. One time back when(?) Tampa, my best friend and I were getting kinda close to the outside stage, high, when this guy came up to us and started a conversation. Had to say to him he looked a lot like dusty hill. Yeh he said I get that a lot. He hung out with us for quite awhile when he says he had to leave for a bit and over and over again asked if we were going to be right here. Damn we said yeh we'll be here. He never came back. ZZTop came on as the final act and during one of their songs Dusty(the real one) pointed down at us and said he would like to dedicate this song to a couple of friends from Miami. Damn, I could jump any higher!

I'm a big Billy fan. I even played a show being Billy on Halloween complete with beard, hat and cheap sunglasses. He's not the best of all-time but he's still great. This entire intro is derived from Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and a song called World Keep On Turning. There is a live version of it from 1970 that is STUNNING. And of course that comes from authentic blues. As to the heavy part of Brown Sugar - that is pure ZZ Top!

ZZ opened for the Rolling Stones not long before Brown Sugar came out. There are some guitar players who've noticed the strong similarities between the opening riffs from ZZ Top's Francine and the Rolling Stones Brown Sugar. It seems likely to lots of guitar players that that's where Mick picked up the opening riff (yes, I said Mick - it's known to Stones fans that it was Mick and not Keith who came up with the riff). A for sure connection? Maybe not. But maybe....

Hey Jamel! Never doubt the positive affects your particular channel has on not just myself, but as far as I can tell, all of us subscribers. You truly have created yourself another family! My Brother, your reactions are so personal. So genuine. When you share your personal musical history & the narrow parameters of exposure to more than a few styles and/or as background music (electronic wallpaper when out in public or at a day job..as it is for many folks), I get emotional seeing & feeling your open mindedness. Especially when you’re watching something that I’ve listened to & loved for a long, long time. I be seeing you diggin on a song, grooving & feeling it. I get excited for you man! And on those songs that shift gears, take the whole motherfucker to to new level, I start grinning & yelling at the damn screen in anticipation of your reaction, knowing that once again, your head gonna explode!! It gives me new feelings & perspectives on not only the beauty & majesty of these timeless classics, but of the positive, unifying power & healing abilities that music-all music-can posses. It’s a beautiful thing that you share that with us. A gift of happiness. I don’t understand why people are so intolerant of almost everything these days. Especially art and music. How can something be wrong or bad or suck if it’s intentions are honest & it uplifts someone? You are living proof of that Mr. 6’6”! I’m an active musician & full-time music lover. Because of my desire for a few creature comforts (food, a bed w/ a roof over it, guitar strings & a few frog skins to spend visiting museums, galleries & performances) I also have a day job. I supervise a department at a University Health Sciences Center/Level 1 Trauma & Treatment Teaching Hospital/Cancer Research & Treatment Center/Medical & Biomedical Research School & facility. My department is classified Tier 1/Essential. We have never experienced anything like the current, world health emergency. I have the extreme good fortune of having an outstanding, dedicated team, but this is getting to be some overwhelming & often scary shit. Social distancing has prevented me from being able to hangout or practice with my band. Gigs & festival appearances obviously cancelled as well. Some days I feel spaced out & practically numb. But you know what never fails to clear the fog & bring me some happiness? Your channel my Man! Always!! And if you haven’t any new reactions, I’ll re-watch some of my past favorites! Heck, who am I fooling? I do that even when I finish gassing out over new postings!! I have a b-day coming up & when asked, I’ve told my homies all I would want is a Jamal_AKA_Jemel all-over sweat shirt or t-shirt or tote or hat. And if they can’t get that together, they still have to subscribe to your channel. That way everyday will feel like their birthday due to your gifts you share with all of us! I thank you again Jamal. Never doubt what y’all do here or how you do it. You have created something much more than a reaction channel. It’s an amazing & lovely thing to share your musical journey with us. *respect* tl;dr? Another music freak overly expresses his love & appreciation of this channel while having difficulty not revealing a man-crush on Jamal.
