Great video, as soon as I saw the black phased grey squirrel I knew you were around the great lakes region of Erie or Ontario. These owls are small but mighty, they can take quarry up to 4 times their own weight. I am also happy I have found someone posting their live stream of their owl box, it has a Saw Whet couple, the female just laid her 3rd egg.

Hello Rudy, just came across your beautiful snowy owl video. I live in Ottawa and am wondering where id the best place to photography snowy owl on public land?
@Rudy.Pohl.Ottawa4 ай бұрын
Hi Joseph, Finding Snowy Owls this year is tough because Eastern North America is having its worst Snowy Owl winter in about 20 years. There is one young female in rural south-west Ottawa just south of Kanata in the large field at the corner of Brownlee Road and Eagleson Road. She is often perched in cluster of high bare trees on the south side of Brownlee. Go to the corner of Brownlee and Eagleson and turn right onto Brownlee. Drive west for about 500 meters. Stop and look south 380 meters along that fence line and there are the trees. he is often there. There is a worn path along the left side of the fence line where we all walk, so far with the approval of the owner, but DO NOT walk on the right side (east side) of the fence line. We are not permitted on that land. Here is a photo I got of her a few days ago at around 4:00 pm. www.flickr.com/photos/rmp2020/53498727018/in/dateposted/ Good luck, Rudy

@@Rudy.Pohl.Ottawa Rudy, Thank you so very much for sharing the information. I live in Kanata North and I have seen Snowy around ten year ago, but not anymore since the forest was levelled for land development. I shall try my luck with your feedback.

I wonder if Sammy is attempting to be polite, even respectful to you, by not staring at you but showing you trust by turning his back. This might be his way of cautiously saying "I know you, you are ok".
@Rudy.Pohl.Ottawa4 ай бұрын
I think you might be correct in this assessment. He certainly does not in any way seem to be fearful, threatened or aggressive. I have had other encounters with him where he has shown the same, calm relaxed behaviour.
