@@terrablader I can tell you that the Trinity mounting on the Twister is perfect! It doesn't move at all with the 3x150 SUV and with the DH350. And with the DH350, it's the lowest setup you can have. Even with a Powerslide boot, it can't be lower. In reality, I had only bad experience with the Powerslide boots. That's why I finally choose the Twister (it began with my 2006 Twister Pro) . Easy to modify according to my way of skating, not too expensive, quite stiff. But my prefered skates are my 2011 highly modified SEBA Igor with the 5x84mm frames. @@terrablader In reality, we did these ourselves for like 50$ in... 2000. At that time, maybe you remember that the biggest wheels were... 80mm! So we supposed we could have more grip in the curves, so more speed. But in reality, the best setup for technical downhills remain 5x84 or 5x90. Because with 6 wheels, it's too long and if the road isn't perfectly flat, 1, 2 or more wheels lose contact with the ground. With 5 wheels, the wheels can deform and stay in contact with the ground more easily

I've been skating since 2020, and I'm having a tough time mastering parallel braking. It looks so effortless in your videos, but I can't seem to get the hang of it. Do you have any tips or advice on how to improve my technique? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@skatingdoctor
@skatingdoctor 2 ай бұрын
I must say it looks effortless because I try to smile or to appear cool while shooting a video ;-). In reality, these are 33 years of skating and >25 years downhill at high level (raced in world championship). Began skating at 19yo, 52yo now. You can find tutos on how to do parallel slide. But I didn't learn this way (because it was 1991!). I learnt watching fellow riders and trying to do like them You can see the parallel slide as a variation of a carving curve. You sure know that when you're carving with inline, in reality you must let your wheels slide a bit (unlike skis and ice skates that carve naturally). If you don't, you go on a straight line (talking about flat setups, and not about rockered frames). So first I learnt carving in a steady slope. In order to keep a steady speed, when you carve downhill, you must slide much or less. When you got that, you realize you have one side where you have a better feeling. Mine is the right side (ie sliding while turning on my right). So then you can train to tighten your curves while carving and to feel the wheels slide more and more, and to put not all the weight on the outer skate, but also on the inner skate. Because ideally, with parallel slide, we should put weight 50-50% on the skates. In reality, most of the time it's rather 75% outer - 25% inner. So then, you can end a curve keeping sliding, with your slide doing some banana shape. When you're very used to the feeling, you can start a slide in a straight line. On my side, as you can maybe see on some of my vids, I always do a "pre-slide": the purpose is to test the grip of the road, while sliding a bit in my a right carving turn, then carve left a bit and finally do the parallel on my good side. So I'm not surprised by a lack of grip or by too much grip. Finally, wheels are very important. I'm always searching for the wheels with the highest grip I can find, because I like a lot high angle curves and glovesliding . And last but not least: you know that new wheels have a shiny outer layer. This "vernice" doesn't slide. When I have new wheels, I do extreme carving left and right to get rid of this layer. If you dont, it could be very tricky to do a slide. So I dont know if you alway skate on a straight line. Because in this case, you maybe still have some vernice on the side of the wheels. Hope this help. Also on Instagram: @vincjom

@skatingdoctor
@skatingdoctor 3 ай бұрын
It's worth it 😉. It's the parallel slide. Lots of tutos on YT. But I didnt learn with a tuto back in the 90's. Only by watching other riders do it. And in reality, this slide comes naturally when you go downhill : while carving, the skates must slide a little bit or they dont turn. So if you tighten your curves more and more, the skates slide more. En finally, it's a parallel slide 😉. About 5x84mm, it's not easier, but it adds grip and stability. Maybe it's easier to learn with a 4 wheels setup. With 3 wheels, it's definitely harder. The balance is harder to find because of the bigger wheels and less grip with only 3 wheels. Finally: if you hear that you must fall to learn the parallel slide, that's wrong. I almost didnt Fall in this learning processus. Sure I fell sometimes, but only when I push the limits and then I know it can happen 😉. When I stay in the 50% of my capability like in this vid, chance of falling is 0,001!

By "he", you mean me 😉? For a powerful parallel slide braking, the key point is wheels with maximum grip. Here I have the classic Rollerblade Hydrogen 85A. They're good. And about how to learn parallel slide, you have a lot of tutos. But personnaly, I learnt by myself, watching the others. And I learnt by practicing carving in a not-too-steep slope. When you carve downhill, in reality you must let your wheels slide a bit in every curve. The more you tighten the curve, the more you'll slide. And in the end, it's a parallel slide. And finally: you don't have to fall to learn. I rarely fell during the process. But let's remain careful: always wear gloves. The remaining gear is optional, but it could be good to wear knee pads, a hip protection (you often can fall on the side), and a helmet (but in reality, you almost never fall on your head when you don't ride too fast: skating is not biking...)

@@stargirl5194 No sir please. We're all riders 😉. The key for fun when going DH is to master speed indeed. If you have a quite wide road in a steady slope, it would be perfect. When carving, you must learn to put weight 50-50% on each skate. Practically, you must put the inner skate slightly in front of the outer skate at the very beginning of your curve. This Coyote 3x150 is special: it includes a powerful braking system on wheels 2 and 3 on one boot. You can see I'm braking when I put the right foot in front of the other. For "classic" 3WD, it's harder to brake than with 4WD. Less grip, balance is more difficult to keep during braking
