I speak Russian and have visited Kazakhstan a few times but never have I spoken Russian with the natives there as it felt very awkward. Despite my rudimentary Kazakh, I spoke it with the natives. The only time I spoke Russian was when I went to a Russian Orthodox Church there. This has nothing to do with racism or cultural superiority.
