As warhammer 40k fan this video was pretty helpful to get into warhammer old world

Phantasmagoria is really strong, probably the best spell in the lore. The opponent does get a second chance to dispel it at the start of their turn, but it's going to force so many panic tests if it sticks

Vortex spells can't be placed touching unit bases, and this lore's vortex goes in random directions so it may do no damage at all, plus they get a 2nd chance to dispel before moving their units - I think elemental spirit isn't that great. I think this lore requires the lore familiar as the spells are a really mixed bag - curse of rust, pathway, windblast and ramparts are good, the other 3 are pretty weak IMO

I still think cowardly flight is decent against most armies - chances are you can target something that's not protected by the general/ battle standard and lots of units only have leadership 7 or 8. If you target units near table edges, this spell can wipe the unit. It's another spell that's good for clearing chaff, like wolf riders. As for arrow attraction, I just think the effect is too small - if it was reroll misses or +1 to hit, it would be great for bowline armies, but just reroll ones is meh. You'd need about 60 bowmen shooting at the same unit to have a significant effect. While this lore is best for melee mages with monsters/melee units, it's still OK with a unit of bowmen as most of the spells have a decent range and you could just skip the assailment spell. Also, you could pair this with ruby ring for double fireball

This game sounds like an exploitive train wreck. Oathmark seems a bit more my style.

That runesmith model is still readily available since Fantasy's retirement.

Got most of it but that flame cannon and the Helga queen I never got. So I might go for those two. The king on shield are interesting but I got King Alrik and his shield bearers and the mighty Hing King Thorik on his throne and they are.... made in metal unlike that new resin plastic stuff that often never will be as fantastic as old good plastic or as good as Eavy Metal kits 😁

On the Cult of Ulrik - you forgot the foot troops - Teutogen Guard. Plus the Regiment of Renown - the Swords of Ulric, they were just swordsmen, but could be included in a Cult of Ulrik army. So the Cult of Ulric might not be fully mounted.

Nice video, thank you. One of the appendix armylists of the 6th edition Empire book is the Artillery Train of Nuln, so there is a little to work with there. It focusses on infantry and cannons/mortars as the core units. For TOW GW could create a lord level Master Chief Engineer with extra benefits to warmachines for a Nuln based army of infamy. That would be nice in this monster centric meta.

I think we all know slayers will be one of the dwarf armies but I really hope they go more left field for the other and instead of going with an easy, anti-black powder list (Karak Hirn style), they do something different such as a Rulelord list. Having someone like Kragg the Grim as a level 4 on anvil and perhaps digging into the time of legends lore and the rune golems being a thing! (I can’t see it but here’s hoping).

Great episode guys. i much prefer this format. Short 5 min discussion on each game with some pictures rather than handicam. It is much clearer and easy to follow while painting. love it. Also congrats on the performance, awesome to see woodies getting some further successes.

Nice. But it would have helped if you had had your armylist clearly written down somewhere early. Just a 5 sec slide. You do go trough SOME of the units, but not all. Like, whats on your dragon? Are those scouts or waywatchers? Etc

I enjoyed the talk through with the slides, you both managed it well enough that I always felt like I knew exactly what was happening. One thing that would be really cool if you have the technology to do it is that any time you mention a particular rule or item it would be nice to see a graphic displaying the actual rule or item description. Great job on your podiums and fantastic looking armies!

Nice lists. Really looking forward to the post event review. The Green Knight seems particularly good at the minute and combat skirmishers (like the peg knights) are definitely the thing to take in competitive lists.

Falcon Horn is absolutely busted too. Tom, work it into your list for the tournament if you can. If you have it vs opponents dragon, Pegasus knights, Warhawks, eagles etc…post turn 1 opponents flyers are walking around 2”-6” all game.

Great discussion guys! Yeah, I’m just not a fan of special characters at tournaments…seems too good. There was a recent 2 day grand tournament at Richmond Open, 40+ players and a Bretonnia list with the Green Knight went undefeated…seems a bit busted.

Weak. Missile troops lost Weapon Skill. Low Move, low initiative. Empire has better war machines. No monster mounts for hero characters. Can be March blocked. Low flee , pursue. Bottom tier army

I don't know if I'd say this is enough information to say they're not coming. I feel like it's likely they'll still come but just not soon.

I never read it as doing anything different than what's in the FAQ. Drilled was taken from Warhammer Ancient Battles where it has worked just like this (more or less) for decades. I never got the confusion or controversy. Of course you can use it as part of a charge. Always could. You can use it before _any_ movement except for fleeing.

I don’t believe you are forced to declare a charge with your skirmishers to get them out of the way (against your will) so that your frenzied unit can charge. There was a lot of debate about this on the WHFB discord and the consensus seems to be that if you do something that will cause the skirmishers to move (for example, declaring a charge with them), then your frenzied unit must charge. You can choose to just not move your skirmishers though (for example, by not declaring a charge with them).

To claim you can't dispel a bound spell due to the Wizard thing is sooooo beardy. The Errata is to change the world Wizard to Model in the Wizardly Dispel description.

it is a bloody shame they made ungrim and the thane with the gun in resin when they could have been plastic so easily. I can't wait for the army box, never got a chance to buy a warriors box before gw stopped making them years ago :(
