Number one reason to use c4d over Houdini, "So we're just going to drop down an attribute wrangle and write a little VEX."

It would be such a huge setback to basically go back to square one with this.. it looks insanely good but the complexity (I use C4D) is completely inaccessible for me
@travisissoocool16 күн бұрын
As a professional motion graphics artist, I'm now learning Blender even though I'm a killer C4D user. Mainly it's for Grease Pencil, integrated dynamic topology sculpting, and an expanded set of nodes of materials (specifically the voronoi shading node). Price isn't the issue for me as a single day at my rate pays for a year of C4D, but these specific tools to make stylized 3D/2D looks haven't really been brought to C4D. It's also kinda crazy Maxon One costs almost twice as much as the Adobe full suite. If you add greyscale gorilla plus to the mix, you end up at $140 a month.

Do i need to learn Python for Houdini?? I do understand C Programming nicely, i had Data Structure in C in one of my semester But what is the advantage of learning python for Houdini Also i have 0 experience in Cinema graphics, Vfx I have only worked on 3 CAD softwares
@ELLumanronn10 сағат бұрын
Absolutely not, in fact you could manage perfectly well without coding. It is useful yes, but it is not mandatory, in fact what you might find much more useful is to learn vex (Houdini's internal language that looks a lot like C++). Learning Python might be useful in terms of pipeline, tool development or very complex effects that might require a strong data handling tool, but for beginners coding should not be a problem.

you should just add how many master degrees you need to cope with Houdini :) it is not just a node, it is a ton of nodes, nodes inside the nodes, parameters and programming which means your brain has to be a computer to understand and use it well :))

there is no 3D software better and more easily usable than Cinema 4D. It is the absolute King for general 3D usage, Max, Maya and Blender do not even come close to it. It is a true joy to use C4D after Blender and Max - the clunkiness of the latter two is 'amazing'.
@Quick_VFX2 ай бұрын
Yeah, but Houdini is almost as good...beats Cinema 4D in scalability

I keep having to use Cinema 4D for the awesome sculpting tools imo only thing Houdini lacks
@user-qd8qw2bo3s2 ай бұрын
@@Quick_VFX - well Houdini must be more pro in VFX. I just start touching VFX so not know much about it. Yet C4D is the general 3D package out there due to its intuitive, flowlike UI and menu system. Also capable in all general aspects of 3D designs.

Simulation 70% faster on Linux feels extremely sus. Simulations are just compute, there's no OS interaction during compute, no reason for it to be faster.

The problem arises when geometry nodes in blender comes into play in my case, both are node base system and i don't know anything about geometry nodes, plus the simulations in houdini looks, perfect. I want to make the output 's I seen. one thng I hate in blender is, if you want to produce a good result in blender, buy a addon or do the tweaks in cloth by going up and down in the simulation menu. So I think it's perfect time to switch and learn. And if i able to learn in 2 years (intermediate level) then I can move over from blender to houdini slowly and permanently.
