Hi abe I was thinking if it is a problem to not think of specializing for either game industry or animation industry. I ask you this question because I m building up my portfolio and i m including animation ( highpoly ) props and game props
@AbeLeal3D2 күн бұрын
@@davidedezotti2856 great question and that is the eternal debate of wether you should specialize or be a generalist. After being a 3d artist for so many years I have come to realize that this is an individual choice. To me it has worked being a generalist. To others it really works to be a specialist It depends a lot on wether you want to move along with jobs or stay on your local industry. As a generalist it is easier to stay

Yup. Also, use other people as a measure of skills, not on how to be successful as an artist. I see a lot of people get frustrated or give up because they see so many skileld artists on artstation. That is poison to your growth.

ehy abe I have a question for you. Let's suppose that i want to work as a 3D artist for other countries companies (Usa) , but living in another country (France) or while I travel around the world, do you think it is possible? I have this question in my mind because a 3D artist in USA is paid more than a lawyer in Italy, if I could work in Italy for a US company I would get a very high pay even though In Usa the wage would be the minimum of that country. Does it work like that? What about Mexico, is the life cheaper than USA one, and if yes if someone wants to work from Messico for a US company he would be getting wealthy right?
@AbeLeal3D6 күн бұрын
@@davidedezotti2856 excellent question and yes. If you either freelance or get hired as remote by a US company you can indeed get a nice opportunity fue to currency conversion. But to do this you need a really good portfolio to be noticed and connections to get the opportunities, so it is important to work on both of those areas to ensure a good future
@davidedezotti28566 күн бұрын
@AbeLeal3D thanks this answer is golden, do you have any tips or are you going to make a video reguarding how to make as many and as good connection as we can?

Nice vidoe with hight quality content!! May I ask how to change the interface of substance which can make the font bigger?
@AbeLeal3D6 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean but is usually depends on your screen resolution. If you are working with a 4k monitor things might look very small. I normally work with a 1080p monitors
@ccooper21486 күн бұрын
@@AbeLeal3D Thank you for reply. I am also using 1080p monitors. The interface is too small to read. Maybe it is because I am using steam version and won't get upgrade support. I'll see what I can do. thank you so much.

This topic came up during our portfolio review and it is something that is quite prevalent in a lot of industries, not only in the 3d world. Hopefully it is something that can be less and less common as people are more aware of pursuing their own success
