In Balkans around 1000 years ago tribes who were mostly I2 haplogroup, which had connection with old European I2 versions, also lived in small tribes, doing their own thing. Greeks though of them as friendly and tall when they came into contact with them, and there was never a war between Greeks and I2 tribes, even when they united into small ''countries''. It's ironic considering what happened in 90s in Balkans. Now there is war in Ukraine which in Western part of the country has almost third of the population with the I2 haplogroup origin, but can't really say that Ukraine wanted to wage a war of conquest.
