Roger was wrong, because only a few years later, TOP SECRET!, THE NAKED GUN and HOT SHOTS! would be released. So there was still movies like AIRPLANE coming out, not to mention JOHNNY DANGEROUSLY, AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOOD, MAFIA!, HIGH SCHOOL HIGH, FATAL INSTINCT. LOADED WEAPON ONE....

Question - what is with the editing during the review of Joe Tynan? Was it like that originally?

I like Albert Brooks but I thought Real Life was lame. Modern Romance, Lost in America, Defending Your Life and Mother are much better movies. A big thumbs up for Roger.

I don't know how Roger spent his time when he was 13, but without meaning to sound crude, at 13 Stamp Collecting was the very last thing on my mind. At that age certain parts of an adolescent body WAKE UP. It's a very confusing part of life. One in which "Rich Kids" at least attempted to explore.

Boy, was Roger wrong about Albert Brooks! I do love RICH KIDS and especially OVER THE EDGE.

One of the reason this film takes multiple viewings is the tragic casting of Tom Cruise as...well, an adult...he's not even convincing as the husband of his real life wife (who wipes the floor with him). By the second or third viewing the fatal flaw is baked into the cake- similiar to Barry Lyndon- and you can move on to the what the film is about. We are only left to imagine what a great actor would have done with the role.

One thing I always thought, if Siskel & Ebert reviewed movies & hated most everything, why did they never write a script for movie. They apparently knew what people wanted to see.

Farrah Fawcett certainly could act. A lot better than Lois Chiles...... Farrah appeared natural in everything she did. Her line reading, expressions, movements and voice were never boring. That's not great acting - but she would get there later in her career. She was a very good actress by the time of Extremities, The Burning Bed and Small Sacrifices. Farrah was already 30 years old when Charlies Angels arrived.

Christian Bale gave one of the best performances ever by a child actor. You wouldn't know it from their review or even the sampled clips, but everyone who went to see it back then realized they were watching a future great actor in the making.
