The plain black tantalum looking components could be inductors, which contain small copper coils. It is usually easy to tell when they are on the circuit board, as the silkscreen number for the component will start with "L" for inductors, and "C" for capacitors, or "D" for diodes.

When I was using choppers like that, I would get it started with a sharpened hardened screwdriver first, then set the chopper blade in the slit that was opened up, so I wasn't utterly destroying the blade before I got started. I'd also use a 3.5 lbs sledgehammer too. Nowadays I use much heavier, electrified equipment, and get the job done in about 2.7 seconds, then get the wired pulled in about a minute or less.
@ScrappingScotland
@ScrappingScotland 20 күн бұрын
@patrickm.8425 yeah I also use an use and a small sledgehammer. Not everyone has these things available though so always some value showing that it can still be done with smaller tools.

I had these pile up till I could find the right stiff, strong steel knife from the thrift store that cost maybe $2. It cuts through these small ones and even larger ones like butter! Even stayed sharp after cutting the thin plates of steel that get bent between or the thin pins holding the steel plates together. My old machete was too thick, so the knife works great!
