I had this video saved in my watch later playlist for idk how long. It’s been years since I last watched a full play through of Nier. Your analysis and especially the end credits brought back all the emotions I felt at the time and I started crying. It really felt like reconnecting with my past self, and at the same time facing the profound wisdom that made me who I am today. This video holds a very special place in my heart. Thank you for your hard work.

I met a guy at a gas station around 2009 right around when I graduated high school that told me he had a masters in physics, but there he was at a Love's in Tennessee. I think that guy traumatized me into not caring about formal education, tbh. ETA: he was definitely Gen X, and jaded by his experience

What do you call it when the world is so fucked up you’re forced to not be alienated or else you will literally die? That’s what Jodie and people like Jodie have always dealt with. Jodie and Daria are friends, and Jodie as one of the smartest people in town often reminds Daria of her privilege. Something living like this has taught Jodie is that sometimes the best thing is to just be kind to others, including Daria herself at her worst. I guess what I’m saying is I want a Jodie show

Wonderful video. I will now revisit my opinion on my two least favorite games in the series. I really enjoyed V, but damn it was whack compared to ground zeroes. Makes complete sense on the parallels

MGS 4 is the good ending of the franchise, MGSV is the bad ending made to ensure the player understands everyone involved in war was the bad guy, including us.

25:59 - See this is the one thing I feel like both Kojima and especially Japanese devs keep doing. They dont know when to stop, and if they left things a bit before it got too silly I think alot of their work would be alot better. Its like when you keep adding things to a drawing and at some point you realize it was actually finished and at its best a while back. Except these guys never realize and just keep drawing.

This video is aging like fine wine. I've always said Zack Snyder is trash as a filmmaker and especially as a writer and the way he sees character types and developing characters is trash and time is always going to reveal the truth
@GoldenSkies06116 күн бұрын
This is a REALLY insightful video, although... I think you could've tried to avoid some of the language in it. Using dogwhistles like "Illuminati deep state" and "a wealthy global elite" kind of undermines any critique of right-wing ideologies, not to mention just being really tone deaf and disrespectful in general.

MGS5 sucks doesn't have the charm of the first 4 installments in the series. Probably because they fired hideo Kojima halfway through development. If you have to think about if a game is good or not it's probably not. That doesn't mean it can't look good and have some good game play in the game. It's a playable game but leaves a lot to be desired.

Forgive me for being crass, but why would we want a remade or remastered version of the game? Almost the entire appeal for me is the Sega Saturn graphics with its beautiful VDP effects and giraud shading. Anything more or less would be a disaster.
@KaloyanKasabov15 күн бұрын
Why not a remaster with a port of the OG. I too adore the way 3D Saturn games look, but some just don't like old graphics in general, so why not appease both sides

Msgv is the best bad game. Or it’s a great game that also sucks. Like kojangles can tell us how clever it is after the fact but if people genuinely don’t like something is it really that clever? This applies to all his works, you can’t tell me death stranding is good but I don’t have to believe you.

I like mgs 5. But calling it a finished game is copium. Those kids stealing the metal gear at the end was never resolved in the game. You gotta go on youtube and watch how that ended. Also there are no guard dogs. Enemies never use the bathrooms or throw away garbage. Ocelot warms you about enemies checking dumpsters but they never do

Your debriefing (at 43:01) was one of the most chillingly genuine personal accounts of why this series matters, and the effect it's had on a generation of people curious enough to play it. It's a different beast, feeling Kojima's beating heart while learning through this virtual stealth combat series how such violent interference reigns hell on everyone in its wake. Thanks for taking the time to distill the true purpose of MGS V, and why it is gaming's magnum opus.
