Great views of the dock from the air, though if you flew along the embankment you might have seen the outline of the old stows used to protect the harbour. I enjoyed working on the lock gates during the 1980s when it was still hand operated. The coffee shop ice-cream is from Tiddenham farm and is very enjoyable and good value. Thank you for a great video.

But not a gloomy story. Surprisingly agile control of the vessel it would seem. Given the night shots, gathering the footage must have taken several hours; this is not a quick shoot and post video. As usual, a well selected piece of music - what was it?

Peter Scott came to Slimbridge originally to shoot birds and paint!! Slimbridge is a village that belongs to The Berkeley Castle Estate. For hundreds of years this area provided game for the Castle and locals.Even back in 1960s my friend`s dad regularly hunted this area to feed his family. The Estate still leases the land to farmers and WWt.

Born and spent my early life living and playing in and around the docks in the 60s/70s. it was a busy port then.We had a lovely community where everyone knew each other and looked out for everyone. When I look at the dock area and how sad it all looks now. I`m glad to have my memories of sunny days and fun times.

Thanks John. I use a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone and I found it OK to learn. It is nerve racking having it in the air and have been close to losing it a couple of times. The problem I find is our weather!! Has been too windy for it so frustratingly haven't used it much this summer.

A shame to see this decline. I recall being on a packed cafe balcony at the nearby Sainsburys store to see a fine process, although this must have been around ten years ago. I also recall the bustle of activity in the two dry docks where would refurbish such ships. Finally, when living in Quedgeley, it was a short stroll to the Pilot Inn from where we had a clear view of the canal as the bridge swung open and a stately procession of ships would pass in near silence. I am sorry this short film could not bring back those better memories.

Hi Chris, thanku for a trip down memory lane. As a 9yr old my family moved to Stonehouse from London. We lived in Rylands rd. It was a new estate just being built, housing many Egyptian refugees. As my mother was Maltese, she often helped the local police with the language barrier. I loved riding on my bicycle to St. Cyr church and the canal. I went to school in Stroud, and as a friends dad taught at Wycliffe college, I swam in the school pool, it was cold! I'm in my mid 70s and have lived in NZ since 1976 so yr video brought back lovely memories. Thanku once again.

For those of you who are interested, 'Ben Varrey'was sold in 2016 to Kelcos Ventures of the Seychelles, and after spending some time in Rotterdam her name was changed to 'Ben Varre', and re-registered in Panama. In August 2017 she was taken to South America, and now operates out of Chille.

Brings back memories of delivering grain to Ipswich, Yarmouth and Tilbury Docks. Tipping into elevator pits is ok for Wheat but Barley, that's another kettle of fish especially if you couldn't get to a shower before bedding down for the night. The chaff seemed to get into every fold and orafice. Keep them coming Chris, the photography was brilliant, so sharp..

Memories of my father's final years before retirement, on board coasters of the Booker (SW Coe) line. Don't know if he visited Sharpness but, considering the trips he did (and the type of ship he sailed on), it's pretty likely. He passed away in 2020 at the age of 100
