Driver…driv3n…drived. First “the crew” was a 3rd person mechanic away from being a driver game if you think about it.

Dudes with Attitude seems like a game originally made for the PC shareware market (the color palette looks like straight up EGA). Get the feeling they noticed shareware wasn't a goldmine if you weren't already an established name, and had some contact that could produce NES carts for them instead. Also, if the game had been released in those four months people cared about the OUYA, owners of that system would have talked non-stop about it.

Weird bit of trivia: there's a "Blaster Master" novel. Officially licensed and everything. It's more mediocre than anything else, but it's weird that they used to just take weird swings like that.

The sounds in Blaster Master were some of the most tolerable so far. some of the NES games can get pretty grating but that one was pretty nice.

So I started my daughter on Firehouse Rescue at late 2/early 3, which was onky s few years ago. It was perfect for her to kearn how to use a controller. However, the second she was able to play anything else, we left it in the dust.

VV relies too much on the slow-mo mechanic so the entire game just feels sluggish.

Look, I know I'm always coming into the comments on Jeff's NES videos to bang on about the C64 versions of things, but I can't believe the C64 version of 720° seems way more engaging than this one. Like, that's not a top notch conversion either, but it still seems to have a little more style and personality than the NES one. EDIT: I've just learned 720° was another title that had two versions, the European and US; I'm referring to the European version here. But as a side note, I'd love a video of Jeff just comparing the European and US versions of C64 games. It's a weird side of the machine that never fails to fascinate me, as the two versions are usually quite different (see the two versions of C64 Bionic Commando).

1:58:55 I remember being bewildered by this magical water at a very young age. I was visiting my aunt and uncle and would always look for games wherever there was a computer, and I found the DOS version of Shinobi on theirs. It's an even worse version than this one, but I had fun with it, at least for the two levels that I was able to get through. But I specifically remember falling into the water at this point and being shocked to learn that it didn't kill or harm you at all. It felt so contrary to everything that video games had been trying to teach me up to that point.

Fandom psychosis has definitely come to a head, with Xbox fanatics. It's reached a point where Uncle Phil has many millions of people hypnotized, into saying "it's free on game pass!" When in fact they are paying to rent those games, they don't even own them.

Ninja Gaiden is a great game that is straight up unfair at times. I didn't think "Is it better or worse than Castlevania 1?" would be a tough question, but I spent a couple of minutes sitting back thinking about that myself. They are similar games as they are different if that makes any sense. As for the rest, Bugs deserved a better birthday, Casino Kid has potential but requires a more time and patience to dig into, and it's a shame that Treasure Master isn't as cool as your character's walk is, but Wario's Woods seems very interesting and Jurassic Park should have been ranked higher, in my opinion. I never got past the first level as a kid, but I always remembered the music and it makes me want to play the rest of it now that I've seen what happens after you open the gate. Good stuff, Gerstmann. Onto Episode 30! Hopefully the GameScent smell cleared out by then, LOL.

I don't know if its a bit amongst all video game podcasters, but why is it hard to remember some UK based shops, once you visited the country? Tesco, Sainsburys, Greggs, House of Fraser, etc are so in your face that, its impossible to not to be familiar with them. My friends from Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, etc all treat these shops like their own, so why is it such a struggle for Americans?

I kind of respect Dizzy for being about finding interesting ways to get to what seem like unreachable places. I don't doubt it's miserable to play, but the platform puzzle design feels very modern, in a way. It also feels like there is a lot of thought in the level design to let you go and look at what would otherwise be a blind jump. Like, if you put check points in there, and made the screen transition instantaneous, this might be kinda cool.

Dizzy is very much a pocket money game. Its closer to buying a thing on iOS for a couple of bucks. And I remember thinking people who bought games on console (ie Americans) for $60 were insane. They must seem like people who spent $250 on a neo geo game would seem to an NES owner.

PN03 is actually really great, it's just one of the most under the radar and misunderstood games probably ever. I'm guessing you didn't put hardly any time into it, so you don't actually get how the game mechanics work.
@RenoisticКүн бұрын
It's just not very fun to play imho. I still to this day haven't found a game that merges character action with rhythm games that actually works. Never could get into HiFi Rush either. It just feels restrictive. The extreme repetiveness of PN03 certainly didn't help.
