Wow, what a wonderful movie! Your professional voiceover all together with the amazing shots left us in awe! It brought up many great memories 😊. "The bearers of bad news" from Czechia 😉

Thank you so much for your comments. In recent years we haven't put commentary too much on our videos but thought that it might be appropriate for this video. In our opinion the route is harder than many of the treks that we have done around the world (except perhaps Greenland). Sorry that you were the bearers bad news!. Well done to you and your family in completing it.

Yes, we ain't that young anymore, lol! We were probably the oldest couple undertaking the cross island trek, and fair play to the young'uns, they were full of praise for us!!!
@DavidWhite-uz7ob15 күн бұрын
Great film, thank you. Was the trek a recognised route or piecing together various routes ? If the former, is there a guidebook to the route ? Thank you.
@EtherealLightPhotography12 күн бұрын
We made our own route across the island. We used a map by a British company called Discovery Walking Guides to plan the trek. Cicerone has also published a book by Paddy Dillon covering walks in Madeira, although we did not use this. Basically, you are only limited by your own imagination as to what coast to coast route to devise.

Muy interesante, muchas gracias por realizarlo, mi tatarabuelo (John Noble) fue uno de esos Cornishmen. Por veinte años laboré como profesor en San Cayetano, actualmente campus de la Universidad de Hidalgo.

De nada, you are very welcome. Your Cornish ancestor remained in Mexico, mine returned to Cornwall. His name was Juan Veall Inch. He lived in Rael del Monte for about 20 years as a mine manager.

What an epic hike, I have been watching your videos for quite a few years and they gave me inspiration on my own hiking journey, so much so that I tackled some of the routes from some of your videos, the glennamong horseshoe in Nephin, the maumturks walk, your route in bluestacks and your route from letterkeen out to Slieve carr via Nephin beg, I never would have found these routes if I hadn’t found your videos so thank you 🙏 😊

My many great-granpas ago was out there hiding with his family on that island (Owen Donal O'Sullivan-Bere)--the last stand against Oliver Cromwell, before slipping away to the Continent in 1654. Amazing to see that beautiful place and think of the history that occurred there. Also the slaughter of the O'Sullivan civilians (400 women and children thrown off the cliffs) by the British there in 1603. Merciful that only Dursey's lonely beauty remains.

Great content but I can't help but cringe when you pronounce Nephin "ne-fin." It's pronounced "Ney-fin." Also Slieve is pronounced "shleeve" not "sleeve," the "sh" sound is important and bothy is pronounced "boh-hee."
