Yeah, this is 2024 and I just came across your channel. I've decided to improve my singing ability, i just sing casual but I'm hoping to do better. Do you have suggestions on how i can navigate through your videos, as in which one comes before the other please.

Looks like you might have deviated septum? Does it give you any issues breathing when singing? I have severely deviated septum and feels like it affects my breathing at times.

P.S. josh is another one like Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantomas, Tomahawk, etc.), totally self-taught... and like most self-taught singers of loud/rock music, quiet venues like these are very challenging. and i will 100% grant that Josh doesn't have but about HALF (at most, though he can go lower than most of his songs would indicate) of Patton's 6 octave+ range... but he does a lot with what he's got. as you opined here, despite about 3 spots where he lost the thread a bit or completely pulled out and let Mikey Shoes finish the song's last note. tell you what... when he gets to sing full volume, he puts his work in.

i know this is an old video, but just so you DO know, the guy backing up Josh looking cool in the shades with just a maraca is Jon Theodore, ex-the Mars Volta drummer (their original drummer), one of the very best doing it today. that said, not much place for a drummer in a quiet acoustic set like this one. cheers

I'm on the worship team at church and I realized a while back that coffee, especially drowned in creamer like i like it😁, had a negative affect on my voice, obviously that dairy messed me up🥴 I also struggled with finding the right foods that worked for me so i just avoided eating all together, but I'm gonna try a banana on the morning cause we're doing 2 services now and i need the fuel😅 I still enjoy my coffee but on the Sunday mornings i have to lead i don't drink my coffee😢 i miss it but i just remember i can enjoy a cup later😊

Don’t know why, it’s just very disappointing to hear your voice, especially when you sing the notes. It does not sound genuine.

I think the part that people always miss is that you have to train your vocal chords over time to do vibrato. I used to get so frustrated with these KZfaq videos because I would do all of the exercises and still couldn’t find vibrato and I mean none!!! But I never lost hope, I kept trying and I’ll never forget the first time a tiny bit of vibrato crept into my voice! I literally jumped for joy, it was only on my lower notes to begin with and over time it’s gradually spreading across my range. I’m still not where I want to be but having seen the progress I’ve made I now know it’s possible and will keep doing the exercises. Don’t give up people! Videos like this are fantastic, in fact this is one of the best ones I’ve seen. Keep practising.

None of these exercises are working for me at all and it’s very frustrating. I’ve been singing for years but I’ve never taken any lessons, so I’ve always know that the way I sing is probably very inefficient, even though I’ve learned to make it sound good. I can’t hit the high note in the 1.5 Octave “Ooh” exercise for the life of me. My voice does a skip and switches to falsetto. I’ve had this exact issue with every single vocal exercise I’ve tried when trying to extend my range. It’s the very issue that’s lead me to search up videos on how to extend my range. Knowing how to sing that note is exactly what I need to know in order to extend my range, but all exercises for extending your range require you to already know how to do it.

I love sing but i only do it when the music is loud enough that it covers the sound of my own voice through the headphones. My voice sounds like absolute garbage whenever i listen to it back after recording so i only ever sing when no one is around

Okay struggling. It feeld a bit fast for me. My dad who's a dis jockey has said since i was little my vocal chords rub together and are damaged . Super raspy and even when I speak on the phone and the. People meet me they are like Woah wasnt expecting a five foot munchkin. I dont know if it's rasp or just big I dont know how to fix that and repair the vocal chords. I "sing" or scream 🤣 all the time maybe it's damaging?
