I was a Toyota fan for more than 20 years and owned Tacoma and Tundra until this year. My 2007 Tundra SR5 access cab was still running well but now that I am 75 years old I wanted more safety such as lane assist etc. I also wanted a truck my Wife would be comfortable driving and the Tundra was too big for her. I drove all the mid-size trucks including the Frontier and it was OK but the steering was very heavy and it didn't "wow" us at all. I bought a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition because my Wife and I did get the "wow" we wanted with safety and comfort. We don't really need a truck’s truck at our age. I never thought I would want a mid-size and definitely a Honda Ridgeline but perspectives change as you get older.

Toyota made a mistake when they discontinued the V6 Tacoma in 2024. The new 2.4L turbo gets the same gas mileage as the V6 and Toyota significantly bumped up the base price of the 2024 model. Frontier is looking like a better option now.

I know I should probably use a 1/2 ton full size, but I prefer a smaller truck. I haven't had any issues with any of them, and I hope my 2024 will be the same. So far so good.

I'm blessed to own a few vehicles, two Toyota cars and one Nissan truck. Although I'm a Yota fan hands down Nissan builds robust trucks. Nissan produced the D40 for almost 14 years but it wasn't popular because it was viewed as ugly and outdated. Now with most auto makers going to turbo 4cyl, ugly and outdated is getting viewed as dependable and simple. If Nissan can keep up what they've been doing then in time they will come out on top. IMHO if you change your fluids on time and add a diff breather the current generation Frontier will out last the new Tacoma.

100% agree. And I purchased a 23 Pro4X 5 months later. The truck is perfect. I have to believe that car companies are actively sponsoring hate campaigns against Nissan. The crazy complaints and bad reviews of some KZfaq channels is just wrong. These are good trucks and I think people who own them will tell you so.
@jeanclaude70188 сағат бұрын
It does seem almost conspiratorial. People fear and hate what they don't know. Most of the haters are not owners. Conversely, most of us ACTUAL owners like them a lot. I've had the same one for 29 years and STILL rely on it, if that says anything. 428,000 miles now. Just took it on a 10 hour road trip. I was hoping Nissan hadn't dropped the ball on the new ones, and from the info in this video, I think they've still got it. Ever seen the Million Mile Frontier on TFL truck channel? How can anyone knock that?
@SamkoWorkShop7 сағат бұрын
It was because of the bs on many KZfaq channels that I started my channel with the goal of being 100% fact based. Also why I don't do driving impressions or reviews. Anything that is subjective or opinion based can vary too much. Facts are facts and indisputable. Once someone knows that they can then uses those facts to see what vehicles fit thier needs and then test drive them and figure out rhe opinion based stuff for themselves without any bias. Perfect example: for 6 years the biggest complaint that hurts the ram 3500 Cummins truck is "suspension is too stiff"😂😂
@mikesawyer13366 сағат бұрын
@@SamkoWorkShop yes and I might add.. people are being prayed up on by advertising, example big flat screen displays that look modern and are terribly inefficient and even unsafe for some. That being said, your suggestion would be the only viable one, so good point. 👍
@spyder0000694 сағат бұрын
@@raymondabella4684 The cameras in the frontier are not known for their quality so unless you actually will offroad it then maybe not a huge loss. Led lights are easy enough to install. The only other option that fits the bill is to get a previous gen ranger. They still had them in 6ft beds and with option electronic locker. Its 2.3 is known to be reliable even though its a turbo, better camera, better infotainment system in my opinion, and you can buy a ford extended warranty online typically for less than $2k that extends out to 7 years from the date of manufacture. So is you had a 2022-23 thats still a pretty good margin. Can find those in more luxury trims like xlt /lariat I believe and since a year or two old you don't get hit with the immediate depreciation. Something to consider.
