Here's a primitive and limited fighting game no one cares about. How can I make it interesting to the public? By arguing it is very cerebral and technical and therefore, made for smart people. Then, I could go on rambling for a half hour "philosophizing" about non sense, act as if I'm talking about some complicated natural phenomenon that requires deep analysis😂. It's just a game dude! We don't have to like your favorite game. Move on with your life.

CRY TEKKEN BROS!!!!!!! I like both games but I prefer VF more to be honest. Plus Tekken bros unfairly judge VF by saying "it's slow, stiff, and boring" even though it's the complete opposite of that. I'm not saying Tekken is bad either, it's also a brilliantly fun game just like VF.

Well, what a surprise. VF has ALWAYS been a deeper and more balanced game than Tekken. The point is that what won Namco the battle was Tekken's accessibility. I'm not trying to pick on anyone, but the numbers show that as rewarding as a hardcore fighting game is, in the end they don't represent a wide player base. On the other hand, Tekken gratifies the player from the start, shows off spectacular visuals with little effort, etc. In short: deeper or not, it doesn't mean worse gameplay. I'm a fan of VF and will always enjoy its intricate controls once mastered, but it's not for everyone.

Tekken fan here. There is a reason one game sales a lot more than the other. Tekken is more fun, the roster is more fun, the animation is more fun, the movement and speed of Tekken is a lot more fun. The combos in Tekken are hella fun. VF is the opposite of that.

I played Shenmue on Dreamcast in 2000. I played Shenmue 2 on XBox a few years ago. When 3 was released, I waited until I replayed both remastered on PS4. I just finished 1 and started 2 this week (Japanese with English subtitles this time). They are still so regal! Can’t wait to play 3. I like using the downtime for training and shopping and chatting. I was never able to get the mysterious scroll translated, but I was hoping it would carry into part 2 to get translated in Hong Kong.

I think ultimately the question becomes How Many Shenmue Games will there Be? Because Yu Suzuki is in his mid 60s and I have to wonder how many Games he's going to get to make. it took him 18 years to get around to making Shenmue 3 and it's looking like Shenmue is in Danger of never being Finished at this point. so even if Ryo faces off against Lan Di and Realizes he's not strong enough to avenge his Dad and that makes Sense in Context of the Games it still means that Ultimately there needs to be More Story written and more Games made and I worry that we're running out of time for those things to happen. but Id rather see an ending to it then leave it unfished.

Yeah that's a good point. I think probably 4 or 5 shenmue games. It's getting to the point where the fans are just about able to make their own if need be.

I'm only a couple minutes in as in trying out VF5US. The only thing that seems odd about it compared to other 3d fighters is the lack of distance between fighters. I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of the video too but I just wanna say, LAW MAIN FOR LIFE

I'm currently going through the arcade as Jacky and I feel that being a mighty ruler Law definetly helped me in VF so far. Every point you explained about mashing is so true, trying to do an ukemi/wakeup is messing with me but its so fun

Even though they were different moves, the (essentially) identical progression in the two areas of "get money, learn move, beat major opponent" was probably my least favorite part of the game. That, or the somewhat rushed ending. That said, I did still enjoy it immensely. Two nitpicks will hardly ruin the entire experience... since progression isn't the primary focus of the Shenmue experience anyway. The second game is still my favorite, & I have minor nitpicks about it as well! And I have a Shenmue tattoo on my forearm, so I challenge anyone to doubt my dedication to this series!

The biggest argument against people saying Shenmue aged poorly is that even though I played it for the first time in 2019, I still had a great time with Shenmue 1 and 2!

I found the games relaxing more than anything, they're kind of like a cozy game, some people can't handle a mellow game like the Shenmues or Shadows of Destiny it has to be constant action, and don't realize it's more about exploring, and enjoying the world than action all the time.

I just finished my first ever playthrough of shenmue. I cant believe how amazing it is. Even now, playing through it, i was thinking 'how would you do this in a video game' when really you need to think 'how would i do this in real life' This game was ahead of its time, and maybe came too early and might be why games like this arn't made since.

Tekken is fun but still feels like MK game, attack string, block. VF is totally different game, every character is completely different. I started with VF2 and still I enjoy that game. VF is just too intellectual for everyone, that's why team ninja tried to dummy it a bit with DoA. But VF is still the game.

And yes there is tier list in VF2 back in the days Kage and Jacky were OP. Jeffry got a magic piledriver that can catch you from a mile away. Akira was too complex to play and the sticks were bad. However I played Shun since I got tired of mirror matches with Kage Jacky and Jeffry. But once we got all into VF2 we totally dumped Tekken 2, it looks shallow when you master VF2. In Tekken 2 the top tier is A.King, I don’t know about those old tier lists but I dare to try me back in the days with A.King he deserves a ban. So VF2 and Zero 2 remained the most played games.

What also makes shenmue so great is the fact that it's really about finding purpose and meaning in life and is also about spirituality and the beauty behind it. Not to mention there's so many hidden secrets that people are still discovering even after playing this game many years after its release. I'm going to use this video to show people why this franchise means so much to so many people and why I will continue loving it no matter what others say about it.

Like people who like to make baseless comparisons between Shenmue and Yakuza simply don't understand Shenmue is or why it works.

This is the third time that I'm playing Shenmue and it's seriously one of the most poignant and the most meaningful game franchise that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Like seriously it's so different than any other game that I've ever played before. It's something about this series that makes it stand out from the many other games that I played. Edit: have you heard the news that Shenmue 4 has a potential partner and is in the planning process.

@@VirtuaBros apparently there's this whole thing that's going to happen on June 4th in one of the Shenmue Dojo live stream where this whole mass tweet is going to happen to where we tweet at the same time #LetsGetShenmue4 and if we do that hard enough, it'll potentially make some noise to where finally something will be announced relating to Shenmue 4 being worked on and revealed to the public.

@@VirtuaBros Maybe to someone who has dedicated their life to virtua fighter, but not one of the characters has left a mark in popular culture. The character designs are incredibly bland with barely any interesting elements to grab a normies attention and make the characters recognizable and cool. Also the lack of character endings or storymode doesn't help to form a familiarity between player and character. Comparisons: Akira, a dude in a monotone gi vs Jin, karate pants with a flame, no top so you see the cool tattoo/curse mark, silly but badass hairstyle, red gloves and devil power. Kage, a dark blue ninja costume vs Yoshimitsu a mysterious cyborg ninja with a completely different vibrant look in every game, wields a cursed blade and can fly like a helicopter among many other goofy tricks. El Flame, a generic mexican wrestler with Jin's pants vs King, massive wrestler with a leopard mask and tail, speaks only Leopard and has a orphanage. Shun Di, old drunk fu master in regular kung fu attire but with an disgusting color scheme vs Heihaci, one of the simpler designs but strikes the perfect balance with the ripped gi with tiger on back and contrasting red belt, iconic hairstyle and electric moves, mf looks like thunder incarnate. Even the soundtracks and stages are mid compared to other fighting games.
