Almost 21K$ for motor inverter, then say 10K$ for batteries, 10K$ for extras and labour. I would say $40K-$50K in total.

Hi Veronika! So I guess you're from Germany!😂 Thanks for the details. What about air conditioning? What would one use to drive that? Just hook it up with an electric motor? Or use an electric pump? What about another systems like abs, etc... Thanks!

14:25 CCS1 or CCS2 are both connectors that are way too big so I hate both those connectors. I mean I know that Matt was proposing CCS2 everywhere but the thing is North America and many other countries all don't use 3 phase power in residential homes which is why CCS2 could not work and NACS is suitable for North America. NACS in its current standard would not work in Europe and parts of Asia even if it wasn't an European mandate because it doesn't have 3 phase power since it would be missing 2 pins (A line 3 and neutral pins) in the NACS connector. Tesla would need to create a "NACS2" connector to add 2 more pins to the NACS connector to have a 1:1 mapping to CCS2. Thanks but no thanks to CCS2 in America even it could work in North America.

Ugh, thermal runaway in lithium ion batteries versus LFP lithium iron Phosphate batteries. Battery safety is already a solved problem for the most part. But do you think Musk is all of a sudden all in on LFP after he was all gun ho about his own turnery batteries? Pfft...

Very nice to see the progress of this build. By the way, I think it's wise to isolate the drive train (electric motor) from the frame using rubbers and I would ugrade the rear end with a Dana 44. The stock Dana 35 is a very weak axle and should have never be put behind the 4.0 from the factory. The constant torque of an electro motor will blow your diff in a heart beat. Keep up the good work.

and who will do the repairs of these ? I do not wanna become a victim of parts exchangers. And at the end he had shown hardware but not the software. Not sure if every customer wants a realtime monitoring by the manufacturer. I hate to see that cause those are my data if i had bought the car and paid the price, not anyone else deserves access to that. And later TI gets access to my home broadband router.

Do all EVs have this pyro fuse?
@DennisMurphey6 ай бұрын
Hello. I just saw a video on a 90s Corvette conversion to EV. Built by Motorola EV Racing then left for dead. Bought by a Brit and taken over for restoration. He is teaming with Fellten engineering. Fellten builds Conversion kits and provides EV training in the UK and Austalia. I want a AWD Hybrid Conversion Kit for my 2014 Corvette. Hub wheel motors. 200 HP combined, 50 mile pure EV range and recharge capability and EV assist Gas driving. Low power and high power. My gas engine has 450HP. Plus 200HP gives it 650HP off the line in AWD!!! Now how could I get this done in a way that the kit can be modified for ANY Corvette. From 63 up is an open target but 68 through 82 are super cheap today. As are 84 to 96 but different unique platform. Which the car they are helping in. 1997 though 2019 are very similar modern high performance platforms. Hub wheels would all fit the same. Controller interfaces are similar and Bettery space in the same. This modern 1997 to 2019 would be very easy to configure as one kit with minor adjustments. Spanning a huge Sport market. Do this this is possible, I do. But I am one old retired engineer with a dream. How could this project be funded, executed and made into reality, and before I am dead. Seems potential could be very good. Modifying existing vehicles is done all the time. If the electrical can be certified once it could then be reused across the line. Converting to EV like E85 reduces emissions. Can credits be collected for conversions? Maybe you have thoughts? Love your work and I would love to have a AWD Hybrid Corvette from my beautiful 2014. The new E Ray starts at $100K and gets the same mileage. We need range and mileage improvements can it be done with EV assist driving? 20% EV add to gas mode 40 mpg or 50 mpg???? Convert gas to E85 reduce emissions more. What could be this potential? Dennis in Virginia Old but not dead. Yet.
@johnpoldo88176 ай бұрын
Agree 100%. You may hear about major breakthroughs by Toyota, but it is a diversion because they are in EV denial still trying to promote obsolete hybrids with gas engines.

@johnpoldo88176 ай бұрын
Gee, Norway is very cold and they have no problems with EVs. Most of the EVs that ran out of charge didn’t have battery pre-conditioned as described in instructions. Many of those dead EVs were driven by ride-share drivers who are renting cars from Hertz without any training. When charged at home or office, EVs have no trouble in cold.
@capnkirk55286 ай бұрын
You'll notice that it was only 'Murica that has a problem with cold. These are the same people whose windmills in Texas don't work in the snow (ours do!). Maybe the problem with green energy or EVs in the US is ... user error? This newfangled stuff is just too complicated!
