You will love the munitions grade, then! Technically, that is what we received. It will certainly not be a wall hanger. The polish may just not be as nice as the standard grade, is all. The blade and fittings should all be the same.

They have an episode called..."something Pendantry", i can't remember. After watching that i was under the impression that he did not have a formal education on swords. Maybe he's self taught and read a lot of books and surely watches a lot of anime.

Head cuts from rapiers historically ended fights quite effectively. It may not have incapacitated or killed someone, but it often rendered them combat ineffective or unwilling. The flat hits, I'll agree on. But being that many rapiers can actually cut very effectively, even small snap cuts to the forehead can be fight enders.

@@ludusferocia8696 Yes, I agree that cuts to the head can end fights very effectively even do they might not be ultimately fatal. I hope I didn't come off as too critic in my previous comment. My point was that dependent on the exact type of a rapier used and the specific target, the cut will need to be a good one and with adequate force to have effect. I would assert that for most common types of Rapiers (civilian types), that renders "snap cuts" (light force) not that effective on targets that are protected with strong and thick bones like the head (forehead). I agree that judging what kills after some time, what gets someone out of a fight immediately and what can take effect after a few minutes is difficult and based on many specific circumstances. But based on my own life experience including one where a blade was drawn and broken ribs and many bruises where a result, the body can and is well able to continue fighting in the presence of many none internal/critical injuries as long as the main organs are not damaged.

In medieval Germany only members of nobility ( Graf/ count or higher rank), knights and few members of townsmen upperclass had the right of hunting. Still in current german hunters terminology there is a difference between Hochwild/ high game and Niederwild/ low game. High game: Formerly only allowed for high noblemen, low game- formerly only allowed for knights and rich commoners. So in late medieval/ early Rennaissnce Germany ( Holy Roman Empire) the Bauernwehr ( farmers weapon/ farmers defence) a long knife similar to germannic seax or Bowie knife, was most common edged sidearm of german commoners. It was used mostly as butchers knife, AS kitchen knife, as harvest knife, as tool for woodwork, and when necessary as weapon. The larger type, Großes Messer was a pure weapon, but still allowed for poor townsmen, and even for ,unfree' farmers, when they had the money. But the crushing down of 1525 Great German farmers rebellion caused that farmers lost the right of owning real bladed sidearms. In this Periode the Langes Messer turned into the Dussack/ Jagdschwert ( hunting sword) . Those descendants of Langes Messer, produced in late 16th century/ mid 17th century had often curved blades, and decorated handles, but had been civilian weapons for hunting or self defence. But ordinary german commoner had only his EDC knife, sticks or tools as weapons. In 18th century the Dussack became Hirschfänger. Like Bauernwehr/ Großes Messer a single edged blade, and the Nagel/ nail replaced by a shell piece. Up to failed Revolution of 1848/49 the Hirschfänger was only allowed for noblemen, knights, forrest officials ( Förster) and professional hunters. Hirsch means in english language deer ( gerrman Tier means annimal) and abfangen means douing final stab. So in current german, hunting sword is no more used. After wwll german hunters no more wanted to look warriorlike, so long hunting knives came out of favour. . The second type of large gerrman ( austrian) hunting knives is Standhauer/ Waidblatt. This is a Mix of small Machete, billhook and butchers cleaver. Few companies still produce Waidblätter. The third type of german hunting knife is the Nicker. Genick means neck. Those knives are usually not longer than 5". Formerly, until 1980s, some old guys carried such Nicker.
