Wow that framework is legit, reminds me of aircraft construction. KZfaq is full of RV horror stories of poorly built units from previous reputable firms. Building your own makes so much sense. Thanks for the update!

Wow, great job ! So cozy and unique, LOVE IT !!! On a different note, I know dogs love to stick their heads out the window, but that could also be dangerous. My friends dog was doing the same thing but the dog got hit in the eye by a bug ( she was doing 40-50mph), the hard impact caused her poor dog to lose its eye. Safe travels to you and your beautiful fur-buddy !

Thanks for giving me a notification about your DYI Camper build improvements. I subbed and hit the bell. Again thanks for the explanations along the build. Thumbs up! Our friends have a fairly new 5th wheel camper. the bump outs leaked and ruined the floor in the camper. the rubber seals in the bump outs were already rotten after two years. As you said the flooring was sandwiched between two vapor barriers and it caused the OSB sub floor to mildew and smell and he actually stepped though it. I want to build something because what is out there is crap unless you can afford an Airstream camper.

No problem thanks for coming to check it out and subbing !! Man thats horrible and one of the reasons I didn't put a roof vent or AC unit on it I was worried about a leaky roof . I can't believe how fast some of them fall apart , but I think it also helps a lot to have them under some kind of roof for storage .

It looked like you installed the fuel filter the wrong way, the visible clear side goes towards the tank. Also to quiet the fuel pump place a thick chunk of rubber between the pump and frame,, 3/8" or more thickness. Over all a super job on everything. Oh, and a little sink would not hurt with like a 3 gallon tank.
@blackspruce1861

The most that comes with it is actually a soft probably 3/8 thick rubber . I took it camping the spring and the noise really wasn't that bad at all .

FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD NOT FRAME THE BACK FLASH FOR THE STOVE (COUPLE SCREWS AND USE AUTO TRIM DOUBLE SIDE TAPE) AND COVER EDGES. I WOULD HAVE USED FOAM OR JUST PAINTED IT. I WOILD CHAULKED IN AND OUTSIDE OF ALL THE CRACKS AND JOINTS WITH GE SUPREME SILICONE SPECIALLY THE OUTSIDE SHELLS ????~~~~

I would have used liquid nails on all the joints in the frame and silicon behind all the frames against the camper. That’s just me. 😊 And sealer under the aluminum at all seams. Driving in the rain could force rain through. 😊 Now you could make access from inside into that new compartment. 😁

QUICK ( FUNNY ) Sometimes *N. O. T.* So Funny reminder / story here. A Long Time Family Friend had Upgraded their Camper ? Vehicle combination. What had been a No - Brainer from them Heading off on last minute weekend along with Planned Excursions (SOON ) Turned into a Head Scratching WHAT in the World is going on here - type situation. You mentioned the needing Bigger axle as A FIX along with Wind Reduction to make it FEEL More reasonable. ( NOW ) Take that Realization and Multiple it by way more Weight, Length, Height, and also Distances being pulled in total. Thier Old Set - Up Had served them well for years. All the kinks and other such Items Long since had disappeared. The New Combo was like trying to Park, Drive, navigate the *QUEEN MARY * any where and ALL Places they had been used to going to. While at a Local Truck Stop ( THEY ) got into a Conversation with an * Old Timer * about this and that until he spoke up about Wind Resistance and the lack of being PREPARED and WHY then Almost without Hesitation ... SEEMS the GIST of it all Came down to FUEL Mileage and also Ease of Hauling this VETERAN of the ROAD _ Ways had Learned ( SHALL ) We say to Old Hard Ways. Seat of the pants meets Pocket book ( WALLET ) Not being able to foot the bills ) GASPS... Air Dams, Spoilers, Bump Outs and YES Man other terms have been used like PREGNANT Elephants or a HEMOROID on STEROIDS can still be heard to this very day... BUYING stuff ( Off the Shelf ) Sounds easy when its just about as common as Saying ( PLEASE ) Should be. Back in the day, CAB OVER tractors or being apart of the SUICIDE Squad with Few safety rules to prevent *YOU * from meeting the payment or Back seat of those who stop short will reading fold out maps was ( WAY ) More common of a sport. This Guy had learned that DIRECTING the Dead air off the Back of his Rig BEFORE ) it EVER was Able to Reach what ever TRAILER he was towing made a Difference in Many things from Handling, Fuel Milage, Ease of Driving KNOWING YOUR better off then most others out there day and night still. He and his Close buddy sat down one afternoon and started cutting up some cardboard from a refrigerator. Lots of tape and few COLD ONES to Ease the Stress it was also creating. Some Old Paneling that was laying around served as a slightly better template to see if it was even possible ? A few trial and errors - later. They were able to make a Fairly Reasonable ( LOOKING / Functioning ) End Result that when time allowed they picked up the exact products they deemed would stand the test of time. Bulk Stock with A Steel Frame ( LATER ) replaced with Aluminum instead. Not so much a Shocker. Other Drivers started asking * HEY * Where could they got such a thing and how much would it cost ??? (NOTE) Not everybody is Gifted in the art of Taking Something and Making it INTO a FUNCTIONAL - Long term possibility. These guys talked to a local Company and they decided to Price out the Over the counter Total if a Business set up to do so was going to market such things ? WHETHER YOU believe it or not. Time and Money ( ADDING ) in For Profits and Over head can take a reasonable ( EXPECTATION ) and Blow it Clear out of the water for most Normal Products with few still seeking it out in the market. A number of years went by My Family Friend had made his own version by then. Decades later it seemed all the industry was claiming ( THEY ) Had Invented a better plan to deal with Wind resistance and Fuel Millages savings as their own MIRACLE on Earth for the rest to pay the toll. Was that ( OLD Timer ) ever going to be Reaping what was sowed ? Chances are he never got the chance. He was in his 60's by all account when the original conversation had taken place. Somebody figured out some short cuts and other ways to cheapen it all up. These days there are very common to be seen. Call them what You Like. BUTT my Friends said its out of place for any price butt oh MAN it really saved when the dollars came to quarters, dimes and nickels along with pennies being added up instead of blowing in the wind ( NO LIE )
