How in the ever living Christ did you get LEDs in the stubbers? That … you drilled down the entire 2mm wide barrel? And somehow fit LEDs inside the cone shaped muzzle? Please explain

Well the short answer is I didn’t! I replaced them with hollow brass ones and the led was a struggle it’s literally the smallest led you can get. I have a tutorial on this one if you really want to see how it’s done

@OchoMiniatures

The brand doesn’t really matter I just use the Amazon special the key is the open time so 2 tone will have a nice long open time so you have more time to work with but many have issues with it dripping because of the long work time, 5 min epoxy will gel up faster but you will have to work a bit faster/ do multiple small batches(although the 5 min may be more yellow that may matter if you want it white or clear)

I got some interesting advice. If you're on a budget or don't want to put too much time into it, the leman russ has lots of press fit sections that you can just use blue tack on. The sponsons, and demolisher cannon work pretty well for this because they both just slide on in. I saw a several year old example that was in great condition.

Hey Ocho, I just wanted to let you know that I'm an electrical engineering student and I recently got into Warhammer 40k. Adeptus Mechanicus was an obvious fit for me, since it lets me combine my passion for electronics and circuits with dope religious themes. I immediately decided I was going to kit out my models with real circuits, and as many cool circuit elements as I could. Your channel is actively serving as an inspiration for some of the technical details that would've taken me ages to figure out. Most of my minis will follow a lot of your examples, with buttons and batteries and whatnot. But I think I'm going to try to have Cawl plug into the wall! I want to incorporate all of his wires as... well actual wires! It reduces the need to hide circuits, and I even had an idea to actually show the full wave rectifier and capacitor on his back, as they'll fit right into his aesthetic. If you think there's anything I should know before I start that might cause trouble please do let me know! Thanks for the awesome ideas, and I can't wait to show you the results!

@OchoMiniatures
@OchoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
As far as the warsuit there are no options anyway the redemptor I don’t really think those are important enough to magnetize but if I were to do it I would glue the disc in place with a magnet and just swap out the fragstorm/bolters with a metal plate glued to them. With really small parts having them with just a bit of steel and attach to a bigger magnet seems to work better

Hello, thank you very much for these videos. I have a doubt. If a battery produces the exact voltage that the LED needs, I don't need to put a resistor, right? I want to put leds in my Votann and I was looking for how to do the calculations for the circuit, I don't know if I did it correctly but since there is no extra voltage R=V/I is equal to zero, right? Thank you.
@OchoMiniatures
@OchoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
So the calculation will get you to 0 yes but I always put a resistor in because the nominal voltage of a battery is always lower than it’s fully charged voltage also the forward voltage of an led can also be slightly off so if a “3v” battery is driving a “3v” led you may actually have 3.3 volts driving a 2.8 volt led so you are over by .5v and this will deduce the life of the led even running at a perfect voltage a resistor will increase the life of the led. At half current you are talking something like 3 time the life of the led. So in short don’t raw dawg your LEDs pop a 10-50 resistor on there also check my led basic’s video for more info
@Semprargentum
@Semprargentum Жыл бұрын
@@OchoMiniatures Oh I see! Thanks so much. You really helped me. Now I have to find a way to hold the battery and the resistor under the base. I think I'm gonna try with melted silicone. Wish me luck ^^ haha. Thank you again!

Omg. At 0:50, the way you move the plasma coils on that LED so that certain "bands" are lit up more than others? HOW cool would it be to somehow control a strip of LEDs down the length of those coils, one LED to a band, to sort of send a very controlled "pulse" down the barrel? Of course, that does sound needlessly complicated... but I'm sure you'd be able to find a way!
@OchoMiniatures
@OchoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
Actually totally doable and was something I was thinking about by using individually addressable LEDs like the neopixle but decided not too because it’s extra code work for not much extra effect. Most people don’t even notice that it pulses or gets brighter when it fires
@SeanStClair-cr9jl
@SeanStClair-cr9jl Жыл бұрын

@@SeanStClair-cr9jl actually I looked into how lightsabers defuse light to try and solve the 360 digress problem but it didn’t really work at such a small scale. Another great video!!! One question I have is why you use a separate LED driver board? Why not just use the signal from the arduino?
@OchoMiniatures
@OchoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
Great question! The led driver is a constant current driver eliminating the need for a resistor. This is not that interesting or important unless you are using the same pins to drive LEDs with different forward voltage. So in short this allows me to swap the weapons without worrying about burning out the LEDs. The other reason you may want a driver board is you can run many more pwm LEDs as many small arduino only have a few pwm Out pins
