The first time it took 30-45 minutes. I’ve replaced it 10 Times since then and it’s much easier than I made it out to be in the video. Couple tips I’ve learned… 1. take the mower deck belt off (and put it back on) from the topside of the machine not working from underneath 2. Only loosen the clutch bracket just a wee bit and hook something to it (like a small ratchet strap) and pull it out then tap it back in with a hammer. If you get the bolt too loose it’s a pain to get to the topside of the bolt to hold it and keep it from spinning. 3. Adjust your spring on the tensioner pulley as needed. The older the spring is the tighter it needs to be to hold the same tension. I’ve got 2000+ hours on the machine and I’m on my third spring. Actually mistakenly replaced the right side hydro because I had no power. Turned out the spring was just bad 🙄 4. You can get away with not using a lift if you jack up the rear of the machine and put it on jackstands and then use a floor jack and lift up the front of the machine and brace it up as well. It’s a little cramped, but it’s doable. Hope this helps!!!

You don’t sharpen them. You simply replace the blade when it stops cutting smoothly, but they last a longggg time.

In this situation it does. I would prefer a little more sunlight for zoysia but this was what the customer wanted. Originally it was going to be artificial turf but they changed the work order last minute to meet budget restraints.

Yes and no. It will let water permeate through but if it’s a raised bet I would want some type of irrigation to assist. Maybe a cheap drip irrigation (DIY project) or using a soaker hose (also diy) to supplement water when needed.

Honestly I just buy whatever is economical. For “throw away” gloves I’ll buy a 5 back of fabric gloves with rubber coating on the palms and fingers (but the back is still cloth). Something breathable and cheap but still provides some protection from sharp objects. I’ll see if I can post a link to something that I would typically buy.

I should remake the video… I’ve changed this belt about 10 times since then and you are correct there are easier ways I’ve found since then. Work smarter not harder!!

I opt to use this in all applications where we install rocks on top… unless someone plans to keep weeds controlled using a torch or something like that which would melt the plastic.

If it’s a warm season turf you can get some sand and fill in the gaps and then just let Mother Nature take it from there. Fertilization and a proper watering schedule will help fill in the gaps quicker, but it will happen by itself overtime. For cool season grasses you can add topsoil in the fall before you reseed. I need to do an updated video… the zXt is my least favorite mower now. - I’ve got a pesky hydro leak that developed around 300 hours and every hose and even the hydro pump was replaced… still leaks. Not a lot but enough that it leaves a wet spot when trailered overnight. - I’ve been through 2 high pressure fuel pumps and 1 low pressure fuel pump - I have to add a quart of oil every 40 to 50 hours. I understand that it’s normal for engines in high ambient temperatures to burn off a little oil when they get hot but not this much. On my other Briggs with the external oil cooler I typically add a quart of oil every 400 hours so there’s something wrong but they can’t explain why and Briggs’ said it’s “within tolerance”. - Most recently they did find an engine oil leak but I don’t think it’s the one I was previously talking about. - also the rollbar sheared in half from just resting in the down position and going over bumps. I’ve posted about it on Facebook and people think I must’ve hit something to cause the damage but I can assure you I did not and it was replaced under warranty and it is something they are aware of. - Then there were other miscellaneous things that I can’t remember off the top of my head that have been frustrating. Overall I’m disappointed in this mower. And I hate to say that because I like Wright overall. In my opinion, the MMZ was the best sitdown mower ever made personally I prefer to stand. And most of my issues have come from the Briggs side of things not so much the mower itself. I’ve got another brand mower that I run Briggs and have had some issues, but not quite as many. To me, I think the EFI motors just caused more problems than old-school carbureted. They don’t start real well when it’s hot, they have fuel pump issues Comma and they have electrical diagnostics that are hard to read at best. The only benefit is they are supposed to be better in coldstart situations which I don’t always agree with , and they do use about less fuel which saves money in the long run. If I could go back I’d never buy an EFI engine.

@@DaisyDukesLandscaping You should just sell it and cut your losses. I wouldn’t have the time or patience to be messing with all of that foolishness. I just bought a ZK gen 3 with an EFI, but not the Vanguard 40. It has the Kawasaki fx820 34.5hp. I made a short video of it on my channel.

I’d be curious to if you tried it and how it’s working. I’d say with enough time and patience you could chip away at it but I think there may be better ways to do it. A lot of people try to burn them out. I don’t know if you’ve done that or not. I guess it also depends on how big of a stump you’re talking about.

Fabric is best used under rocks because other things will breakdown and cause weeds to grow. I will say it is easier to remove the weeds, though if you stay on top of it and not go several years. Also you are correct again with regards to my property. Liquid weedeater for the win wherever possible!!! Also pre/post emergents work great to help control weeds from starting. Ohh and chemical treatment of bugs/grubs/ants/pests too!! Also guns. Lots and lots of guns. 💪🏻 🇺🇸

Save your old one too! Especially if the shaft is still good. Sometimes, if you catch it early enough, you can just replace the inner bearings which is a whole lot cheaper than buying the spindle as a complete unit. I’ve been meaning to make a video that because of how easy it is to replace them.

I would definitely wire it straight to the battery, but use a relay. It might be that the lights are drawing too much power for the regulator to compensate for because the factory lights are typically pretty dim, which is why you probably opted to replace them in the first place. I’ve got 1500 hours on these lights and over 2500 hours on another side of the exact same lights and they still run Strong

Zoysia likes sun. 6+ hours or more a day. It will tolerate some shade but it’s a warm season turf and loves sunlight.
