In England these are known as dividers, plural, being a shortening of “a pair of dividers”; just as we say “a pair of scissors” shortened to scissors; again plural whereas an American would more likely use the term “scissor”, singular. Trivia aside please do make us a video on the use of proportional dividers. Cheers!

That tool you are swatching with is the “eradicator” brush. That’s Rosemary and Co.’s scrubber brush. So it will dig in deeper to pigment.

You are using Dividers. So called because drafters used them to divide lines. Calibers are F shaped with a scale on the long edge.

this was a great and very helpful video for me. i don't draw though, i am a 3d artist. one of the hardest things to do is make a 3d object from a single 2d image -- especially poses of people. this is going to help immensely, and save hours. i'll be able to mark the reference image with the divider to get reference points that will help scale and rotate to the right position. thanks.

Leslie- great space and very organized. I too have a studio like yours…in my mind. I enjoy all of your work/lessons. Totally off art, how to fix your door that won’t stay in one place. First take out the center hinge pin. Using a hammer, on a hard surface outside, hit the pin midsection to create a slightly bowed pin. Reinstall the pin in the hinge and walla no more door creeping.
