My dream job. I've always been fascinated by aviation and airplanes. I was one of those kids that chose airplane toys instead of toy cars. I always wanted to be a commercial pilot, but life happens. I'm too old now, so maybe in the next life, if there is one.

Hey Trent, another great video. I too have been listening and purchasing books from Bigger Pockets for a while now. It is a tremendous resource to learn about real estate and house flipping. My wife and have been flipping houses in Tulsa for a few years now and yes, the payoff is better than any 401k I’ve been in. I’ve had the idea for detailing airplanes but never pursued it. Might have to revisit that. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Trent, I was literally sitting in my pool listening to live ATC and watching FlightAware (I know, Aviation Nerd) and thought, I need to go back and review some of your earlier flying videos and then came across this one. I would love to hear more about your past business history and what you’re doing currently, along with flying too. I’m always searching for that opportunity/investment to be financially free, finish flight training, and be able to give back to others. I would love to have a more in-depth conversation with you at some point. Keep up the videos I enjoy watching.

If am starting at 51, how long would it take me to get fully certified?
@trent_dyrsmidКүн бұрын
If you became proficient as fast as I did and attended a school, that where you did not have to wait for check rides, and you are starting at zero, the very very fastest I would say it could be done would be four months. The reality is that, my results are far from typical so I would say that you should add a few more months on top of that.

Great Video. My son is attending a flight school in Boise, and I'm helping fund it. I feel the school is stringing him along. He isn't flying often for various reasons- the plane needs work, the instructor isn't available, or the weather is bad. Do you have a flight school in the area? Can he attend several schools for flight hours? I like the idea of light sport plane training. Is there anyone in the Boise area offering this training?

Thanks for watching! The school that I attended does not want me sharing their name on my social media because every time I do their phone explodes. They have no interest in training private pilots. The only thing that they really want to do is provide accelerated training for CFI and multi engine ratings. So…to help my viewers find a school that does want to train private pilots, I’ve just formed a partnership with a terrific school in Arizona. You can watch a video about it here flywithtrent.com/flight-training-in-mesa/

Is it very competitive now to find a CFI instructor job?
@trent_dyrsmidКүн бұрын
I don’t know. Never had to look for one. If I had to guess, I would say that every Flight School has the same problem and that is that their CFI’s are constantly turning over as they build enough time to move onto the next stage in their career.

So the first step is getting a private pilot's license if I want to become an airline pilot. Is buying the Airmen Certification Standards (ACS) for both private pilot and commercial pilot for the written test enough? Or is this only for preparation for check rides?
@trent_dyrsmid3 күн бұрын
Yes, the first step is the private pilots license. You do not need to buy the ACS. The FAA provides it for free. It is primarily used as a roadmap to prepare for a check ride. An online ground school such as gold seal is what you need to study.

How much multi time do you have? Probably should of taken it to build it up and be more competitive incase you don’t get CJO.
@trent_dyrsmid3 күн бұрын
I don’t think you’re really thinking this through. When I’m only maybe a week or two away from a CJO, why would I take a job that I really don’t want to have and make a commitment to someone that I cannot fulfill?
