I love Sekiro, because it's a challenge and the combat system is amazing. Dark Souls, Demon souls and Elden Ring are too easy. I still like them but they are not challenging and that's not even debatable. Sekiro is a breath of fresh air and tested me to my limits, and the gauntlet of strength - earning the Shura skin, was the icing on cake. Sorry you don't love this game but to me it's everything games should be...a challenge and an adventure!

What happened to the other rings of power after the one ring was merked?
@ThePhilosophersGames
@ThePhilosophersGames 8 күн бұрын
I assume you mean after the One was destroyed? The RIngs were all bound to teh One Ring and use Sauron's "tech". So the other Rings lose their power. Here some quotes from Tolkien himself ^^ "Now the Elves made many rings; but secretly Sauron made One Ring to rule all the others, and their power was bound up with it, to be subject wholly to it and to last only so long as it too should last." (The Silmarillion) "Thus, as you will see, when the One goes, the last defenders of Highelven lore and beauty are shorn of power to hold back time, and depart." (Letter 144) Explicitly about the Three Rings: "Yet many voices were heard among the Elves foreboding that, if Sauron should come again, then either he would find the Ruling Ring that was lost, or at the best his enemies would discover it and destroy it; but in either chance the powers of the Three must then fail and all things maintained by them must fade, and so the Elves should pass into the twilight and the Dominion of Men begin." (The Silmarillion)

It's clear to me that Jenovah is or was intended to be the big bad. People always interpreted the story as having two villians, whereas if anyone plays the original game, it's evident there is only one villain masquerading as two. I align with your opinion the evidence to suggest Sephiroth is in control is quite sparse and poorly conveyed. I think Kelseymoser7576 is spot on the Ultimania explanation sounds like a retcon to capitalise on Sephiroth's popularity and potential angle for merchandise and marketability it also now creates a lot of plot holes/inconsistencies in the original game, no one cares about Jenovah what people vibe with is brooding man with samurai sword in a trenchcoat. Its now hurting the current franchise because they're currently trying to promote a villain who was probably never meant to be one he comes across as one dimensional,boring and annoying, which people are now seeing. If they don't do something different with Sephiroth in the final installament the remake/rebirth compliation will be considered a failure by many fans.

I think if the Blue Wizards had fallen to the corruption of Sauron, they would have appeared in the War of the Ring. I doubt Sauron would have had 2 Maiar at his disposal and simply not used them or just used them to gather recruits in the East. For me, the Blue Wizards likely failed in a similar manner to Radagast. Perhaps they became obsessed with gaining magical lore and knowledge to the detriment of their mission or fell in love with the animals and fauna of the east. The cults they started when they were still pursuing their true mission continued on even after the Blue Wizards ceased being a threat to Sauron.

I am making this comment before watching. Sekiro's main problem, in my eyes, is that there is always a right answer in combat. In the Souls games, you can dodge, block, strafe, parry, cast a spell, build yourself to tank a hit, ect. In Sekiro, you must jump the sweeps, counter the stabs, and deflect everything else. There are no options. There is always a right answer rather than a host of different potential answers, some of which are better and some worse. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Knowing the available options, Fromsoft was able to tune the bosses very tightly, many of which were masterpieces because of that. At the same time, limiting how players approach a boss takes some of the fun out of it. Sekiro is an incredibly well-made game, but this flaw makes it the least fun of Fromsoft's games for me personally. Edit After Watching: You took the words right out of my mouth. I also hate the fact that your sword hits like a feather.

Looking at just og FF7, its obvious that the main villain is Jenova and that the Jenova or Hybrid theory with Jenova leading was true. FF7 is a story about Life and death Sephiroth doesn't really have anything to do with that, Sephiroth is a boy who was lied to his entire life and couldn't take the truth, while Jenova is a monster that denies and doesn't take part in the natural cycle of life and death using the dead and using cells to live forever, everything in the game is because of Jenova, Jenova is a virus on Gaia Sephiroth is just the puppet being used because he is strong and has alot of Jenova cells. Sephiroth is a parallel to Cloud Cloud and Sephiroth were both puppets, being influenced, used, and manipulated by others exactly Jenova, the difference is what happens afterwards Cloud confirms his humanity while Sephiroth falls more and more into a puppet to the point where he doesn't even talk to Cloud for Bizzaro and Safer Sephiroth Sephiroth also contrast Aerith, one is a child of the ancient and the other a child of a monster, their values and desires are the complete opposite of each others but just like Cloud, Aerith makes her own decisions and becomes apart of the planet while Sephiroth is manipulated all the way through until the end. I believe that either Sephiroth is nothing more then a puppet that Jenova pretends is still alive Or Sephiroth isn't in control not even close since Jenova didn't know Cloud was. That means that Sephiroth memories weren't being used. Maybe Sephiroth was unconscious in the ice but Jenova could access his memories but didn't before meeting Cloud and after all the only purpose in keeping Sephiroth alive at all is so he could use the black materia since I believe remember Jenova couldn't use it right? Sephiroth isn't this cool guy that the game wants you to believe, he loses to a 16 year old failed soilder Sephiroth also puts Jenova above him as his mother, he listens, he obeys her, showing the player who the leader is. You kinda start feeling bad for Sephiroth, Hojo saw him as only a experiment and Jenova only saw him as a puppet.

My guess is that the majority of Dwarf Houses settled in the Red Mountains and Sauron would have been easily able to gift them rings from there being much further east, plus they may not have known about the war to recover the rings yet and Sauron likely came to them in a disguise. Perhaps Celebrimbor did gift a ring to Durin III as Sauron was bearing down on him with his armies as a way to hide it. Maybe Sauron learned of this later and thats what compelled him to gift the 6 other rings to the other dwarf kings.

I didn't have a problem with Sauron being cut down by Adar and still being able to take a fair form. (tho to be fair I have much bigger problems with RoP's plotlines lol) I'd have to re watch some of s1 to get his exact wording but I think he may say he cut him in two or something like that. Sauron being drowned along with Numenor by Eru feels much more traumatic to Sauron's physical form to me as it would seem like he'd have to completely abandon it compared to whatever happened to him prior to the events of s1 by Adar. But maybe we'll see if they do do a flash back to the Sauron / Adar confrontation
@Mallarkey
@Mallarkey 14 күн бұрын
Yeah. It wasn't so much of a "drowning" of Numenor in my head, but a total cataclysmic destruction: Eru bends the world and reshapes it into a globe, and I imagine Numenor was right on the fracture point, so I see earthquakes, rock-slides and pyroclastics also, meaning Sauron (and everyone else on land) being utterly smashed to bits. I'd struggle to take fair form again after THAT!

This is an old video, so I don't know if you check comments, but a couple things worth noting: 1) Inspiration for the villain of FFVII, according to Kitase, originally came from Jaws, and was supposed to be eerie/lurk in the shadows and not appear until later, so really cool scenes like the assassination of Shinra became part of this. However, because Sephiroth became so iconic and intrinsically tied to FFVII as a brand, he became promoted and widely used so much in compilation content, so he loses that element in much of the expanded content including Remake. 2) The development and story of VII changed radically when the mother of original FF creator Sakaguchi died durinf development. They used the story to talk more about permanence/pointlessness of death. As a result, it's hard to say if other elements and themes changed halfway through. Also Sakaguchi left Square well before the release of FFVII Ultimania, which reveals that Sephiroth being the puppet master is cannon. Nomura has been given director control of much of the compilation as well, and since he was the character designer and not director or a writer of the original game, it's hard to say if creative interpretations remain consistent. As such, I believe it's very possible with the combination of staff changes and the rise of Sephiroth's popularity as a brand that Jenova was supposed to be the original mastermind and the retcon of the Ultimania and extended VII content upgraded Sephiroth's role to capitalize on his popularity. Sephiroth as mastermind sells more merch is the most cynical take, I suppose.

But when Sauron enters the city getting the Rings back, he has not to disguise himself as Annatar anymore. Tolkien even wrote, that Sauron had some trouble with his Annatar form, because some of the Orcs laughed at him for it, which delayed growing his armies. "But not until Mordor and the Barad-dûr were ready could he allow them to come out of hiding, while the Eastern Orcs, who had not experienced the power and terror of the Eldar, or the valour of the Edain, were not subservient to Sauron - while he was obliged for the cozening of Western Men and Elves to wear as fair a form and countenance as he could, they despised him and laughed at him."

24:30: Although Sauron is widely known for his skill in ring crafting, it is less well known that he is a master wig-maker. His wig making skills far predate the forging of the great rings. Every time he pissed off Melkor in the first age and got sent to bed without supper, he would spend the night whiling away the hours with the making of wigs. His wigs could fool even the very wise... ;-) (On a more serious note--I can only admire your ability to find some objectivity in this breakdown. This is less an adaptation than fan fiction--which I could possibly live with if it was well done fan fiction, but the plot holes make the story irredeemably bad. This isn't just a matter of not being true to the lore--the story (at least from the first season) is very bad as its own "thing.")

One thing that was obvious about season 1 is that the showrunners and writers never had any intention of following the Lore. There's absolutely no reason to think anything will be different in season 2 and after the wreckage from season 1, they would have to start over to do things right. We all know that won't happen. Even if you try to ignore that this was supposed to be a Tolkien adaption, the show was simply bad. Terrible writing, huge plot holes, uninteresting, even annoying characters.
