Feel like this is such an important topic which you addressed so wisely and authentically! I’ve had such troubles with my skin with acne and dermatillomania, and was on accutane for ~14 months! Since then my skin has improved so much and I’ve learned a lot, mainly, as you said, that less is more! Or for me simplicity is more, so I try to pick things that are gentle and have short ingredients list (so as to have less chance of irritation) and change only one thing at a time if I change anything. I also treat my skin with kindness, not scrubbing away at it. I’ve learned to not just do what others do (for example everyone says to tone but I have had nothing but trouble with them so I just don’t bother!) and I have been using Korean skincare which has been helping too. I am curious as you linked Cetraben as your moisturiser, do you put it on your face? I’d be worried it would clog my pores but would be intrigued to try it as I’ve used it on my body and it’s worked well in the past! Will also try your face mask recipe, love a good homemade face mask (powdered oats, honey and milk also works so well) although I think I once used pure turmeric years ago and my face was…quite orange needless to say 🤣Thanks for sharing Holly 💕

Just found your channel. Your own thoughts reflect perfectly those that I talk about on my own channel. Slow, simple living, minimalism and all wrapped in a countryside setting. I’m at the other end of the spectrum at 70. The more I listen, the more you remind me of me when I was living this life half a century ago. New subscriber.

What I tjink is interesting is that sometimes the way to become great, is to stop trying to achieve perfection and just keep progressing and doing as you state in this video. That the "masterpieces" will come in those moments where you are st ease ans creating in an organic way. That maybe you'll spend so much time practicing, until one day uou'll start having tremendous skill, but you won't even realize it.

I love that perspective and idea thank you for sharing! I think you’ve really hit the nail on the end that it’s the surprise of becoming a “master” unintentionally that is the most rewarding, just through the perseverance and willingness to keep learning!✨ Thank you for watching☺️

This was such an insightful video! Accepting I can't not be the best in everything has been the best mindset shift I've done in my life. It's okay to live a simple "boring" life. Sometimes mundane moments bring me more joy than any big achievements in my life.

I guess the hardest thing to master is the thought that life is a journey because we as humans often want to achieve the biggest dopamine right then and there. Whatever you do day to day and learn is the point and ”salt” of it all. When you’ve completed a project, it feels great for a moment (the rush) and then it flees, like you said in the video.

This really spoke to me, I've been feeling really stuck lately and desperately needing something new & a change. Great video Holly :-) I find the best way to become really good at something is to fail over and over again at it, and then each new following approach is a more refined one, because I learn what not to do. No one admires a construction site, but they admire the finished building. That's how I see myself, I'm not there yet, but I'm a work in progress, under construction. Comparison is a real killer too, because we compare our construction sites to other people's finished buildings, when really they may just be further along their journey. It's not one giant step at a time we make progress, but little by little, and one day at a time :-)
@lagomholly
@lagomholly 11 күн бұрын
I love that mindset Stephen and the analogy you've used there which couldn't be more fitting 😊 I totally agree though, you never failed when you accumulate new knowledge and experiences. It's a perspective that's difficult to comprehend at times but it makes failure impossible when you look at things this way. It's actually the failures that make us stronger, wiser and better off in the end the majority of the time too! It's better to be a working progress than not at all and I have no doubt what you're building is something rather spectacular as it stands! ☺️ Thank you for watching! ✨

@lagomholly Awww thank you lovely Holly :-) failure is inevitable, but you're right the good, the bad, and even the ugly experiences make us wiser and stronger. Yes I agree it's better to be moving forward than to do nothing at all, I think we only truly fail when we don't even try. Thank you so much! I think what you've built with this KZfaq channel and continue to build with it, is truly beautiful too :-)

My thoughts on life long learning. Well, it's a MAJOR challenge but an essential one in order to calm the mind and our reactions. After 4 years of living in India I can honestly say that life long learning is difficult. Especially in terms of our responsiveness to internal politics and gender equality. On a daily basis I am learning to find my way though the forest with the difficulties of indian culture. Then I realise that changing focus is positive for example, there is an ample amount of cool stuff about indian culture too and i dive deep into that. Then I learn to take the rough with the smooth. And my responsiveness to the rough significantly declines and i learn about mind over matter. Sorry Hollie my comment is pretty deep!!! Hope you are well dear ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I question everything also, including history, values, religion, and everything thing else I have ever learned. I ask myself “Why?” about 5 times to drill down to more fundamental levels of concepts I have come to accept. In so doing I have opened up deep questions and have come to realize that things are not always what they appear. We live in a world of convenience, of echo chambers, of social media influence, and of perception. We do well to ask ourselves hard questions such Why are We Here, where are we going? And what is life’s purpose?
@lagomholly
@lagomholly 19 күн бұрын
I’m glad I’m not the only one!😅 In all seriousness though I think it’s important to ask questions not only for clarity but also to ensure continuous learning and development! If we just accept things as they are we’d never grow or evolve and that’s one of the most special elements of life in my view😊 Of course questioning in healthy doses too as I’ve come to find too much can cause an equal amount of distress as there’s always a question to be asked no matter what😂 Reminds me of a toddler/child who asks their parents “but why?” Constantly🤣 Sometimes we have to accept some questions never have finite answers and that’s just part and parcel of life’s wonder😄

i listened to this video again and again in my car and appreciate the individual care and creativity you put into your points such as your analogy of the claw, your personal struggles of trying to fit in, your cave men example. Sometimes by laying out your concepts in clear and logical ways we can go a long way in persuading others to see our point of view or to point out another perspective . I agree that being true to ourselves is priority. The accurate assessment of ourselves is critical in personal growth and development, this is taught by apostle Paul. We shouldn’t think of ourselves greater or less than who we are. And if we judge ourselves accurately, we can live in a way that will free us from judgment by our superiors later on, such as when we follow the law or when we act in love out of our own compassion, because perfect love casts out fear and is the only debt that we should ever owe.
