Hey man!!! this is cool I have my EDGE now back at my studio and the D-Thing , I believe, MKii.... and still kicking. Will it work too with the EDGE?

The 1.5 firmware is needed to work with the Edge. There's a difference in the way the envelope triggers in the Edge compared to the DFAM, and the pulses into the Adv/Clock input need to be longer. But you can upload the 1.5 firmware into any model of the D-Thing.

Very cool looking thing. This would be amazing if it had a dedicated VCA or two (maybe on the mixer). I find that almost none of the semi-modulars I have played with have a VCA aside from amp VCA. Having an extra one really opens up most any semi-modular.

I know what you mean, and at one point I did intend to reduce the mixer to two channels, and add a VCA, but I was talked out of it. There’s always trade-offs, and I certainly enjoy having three channels for the mixing.

Had mine for a couple of weeks now. The DFAM is a beast but the D-Thing just takes it to another level - No, it raises it by a number of levels and makes the beast roar and sing and dance and.... you get the picture. No DFAM should be without one.

What is the m-thing adding here? Is it available for purhase?

In this example it is adding a sub-oscillator to the Mother 32 melody, and a sum of LFO and sample and hold modulation to both the Mother 32 and the Matriarch. And yes, it is currently available in both standalone and 32HP Eurorack format.

cool device! 👍 That M-Thing might make some of my semi modular mono synths complete (Werkstatt, for example) what are you using to sequence? might it be a KeyStepPro?

Hi Marco. Yes, I'm using a KeyStep Pro - a fantastic controller for modular/semi-modular gear. One channel to each of the D-Thing, Mother 32, Matriarch and System 100. The M-Thing is a great addition to a semi-modular. :-) I use it particularly with the Mother 32, Minibrute & Microbrute. Adding a sub-oscillator, noise and extra modulation to a Werkstatt would also work well (similar to the Mother).

I have just received my DFAM Thing and being using it for a couple of weeks now and it is brilliant. Intuitive to use and really opens up a plethora of new opportunities for the DFAM. It really is as simple as this - if you own a DFAM then you must own the DFAM Thing. Highly recommended.

No. The Eurorack module and the standalone unit have the same core functionality and operate alone. The differences are in the interface and support for MIDI (standalone) vs V/Oct CV (Eurorack module).

IDEA: For this one, it could be cool to use along with a midi keyboard: keep doing diatonic or chromatic scales BUT, whenever one presses a key on the midi keyboard, the playing resets and restarts from there.... so that way, one could be playing solo arpeggios with the Joystick but jumping to other parts of the whole keyboard and keep "soloing".....
