Pity all these veteran interviews weren’t done when they were younger. Baffling isn’t it?

Damn. I wish my dad was still alive so he could tell me or anyone about his WW2 experiences. The pic next to my comment is my dad's LCI, the US 91. He took that pic after the war ended. It struck an underwater mine as it neared the dog white sector of Omaha Beach the morning of D-Day.

I am at a loss for words. Tears streaming down my face. I met an Indianapolis survivor once, I asked him what was his brand of beer?. Then I said okay can I bring a case of that over and can we talk about your experiences. He said yes. You see my father was a pearl harbor survivor and veteran of Leyte gulf, Iwo jima and the Pacific campaign. I understand this generation and what they went through. My father had many chilling stories and this Indianapolis survivor had even more chilling stories. The huge sharks the cruel sun and the out of their minds salt water drinkers. The stories this guy told me were truly scary as anything you can imagine. You don't come back from that not fully. There is a lifelong scar and you cope with it or you kill yourself when you just can't take it anymore. I want to take this moment to thank all of our veterans for their service. Thank you .

So thankful to Almighty God for truly delivering him from the torment of his hatred for his oppressors. Even though the hatred was justifiable because of all he went through; letting it go and giving it over to God set him free. May he rest in peace in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ!

He touched upon how mind controlled people were to hitler being their savior, but in reality Hitler destroyed their country and had no lasting positive effects

Well at the end of the story he bullshitted a little. He said he couldn't go into a bar because he was twenty. When in reality the law changed in nineteen eighty. So he could have went into a bar at eighteen.

I served in the Marines Corps from 2004-2011. Did some time in Iraq early on in GWOT. I'm glad to have worn the same uniform. Has men like this. Marines are a different breed for sure.

My grandfather, my dad’s dad, served in Okinawa during WW2. He was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart 💜. He died before I was born. My dad served in Okinawa at the end of the Vietnam war. Supposedly fulfilling a promise to his dad, to pee on the hill his father had been shot on.

Unsung heroes of any and every conflict since time immorial!!! As this enlightened legend says; One can only ever make decisions based upon the facts you know in that moment. Never look back and criticize oneself with information revealed after the moment. Trust your training and skills, do your job to the best of your abilities, and NEVER look back.!!!!

War is stupid.. all the lives lost during the blitz and the air campaign over germany. Both world wars was such a waste.
@Wil_Liam1
@Wil_Liam1 Күн бұрын
Not really as both wars prevented Germany as well as Japan from taking over the entire free world and killing millions more innocents... War is sometimes necessary for the good of mankind, but rarely is war any good at all when it's over politics,oil,or land...

I thought soccer was an American terminology & thr english say football 🤔
@Wil_Liam1
@Wil_Liam1 Күн бұрын
Nope,soccer is the proper,original term for soccer and football is the latter day American game which is much more brutal,and much more fun than just booting a round ball all over the field looking for an opportunity... Rugby is closer to real football than soccer... 😉

God Bless all the men who served in World War II, truly the greatest and most selfless generation, their bravery and sacrifice is beyond measurable, the horror and death they endured, the terror of not knowing if you were coming back is a testament to their greatness it is sad to know that will all be gone from this world in few years, leaving behind their blood, sweat, and tears for generations to embrace and follow, their youth was and is our glory our finest hour, real heroes who fought in distant lands, against foreign enemies, and never asked why, but where and when. May their voices never be silent, their deaths never forgotten and their stories echo for centuries to come... ......
