So far Ghostface has never made a threat to a group of people all at once, so I think it would be an awesome opening for him to call into Gale’s morning show. Obviously he probably wouldn’t be able to kill Gale with all her security, but maybe he could kill someone else, but just call in to taunt Gale live on television.

We should also get something with Dewey’s funeral, I mean just something to really honor this legacy character. Not just forgotten and never brought up again like Tatum

I kinda felt like Tara trying to escape in the wheelchair in the hospital was a cool subversion of the chase scene. It was so slow but that made it tense and she was in so much pain, I definitely found myself scared for her!

We need a chase scene as good as Helen in I Know What You Did Last Summer. I frequently watch that movie and it’s honestly one of, if not, THE best chase scene. It literally has 4-5 different sets for that one moment.

How about the opening scene being a failed attempt where Ghostface is killed and no one recognizes who they are after being unmasked. Attacks keep happening anyways which opens the door for Stu's cult following theory if your into that. Either way opening with a killer being killed and unmasked in the opening scene would be a twist.

I got a little bit excited in Scream 5 when Dewey went back for Ghostface in the hospital. I figured they were probably just going to kill him off, but I was hoping maybe he would actually have killed one of the killers and reveal the identity halfway through the movie, which would add to the mystery of who the second killer was and how they were connected.

What I loved about the first one was that I originally wrote off Billy as the killer. There was too much evidence against him. I had seen a lot of movies where the person who is the obvious suspect is not the actual killer. And I had not seen two killers before, so I had not considered it and it was a total shock to me.

A Chase scene is definitely needed. I would love a heart pounding chase with Gale again. I would also enjoy losing a few of the newer cast. Really narrow it down to one or two and have more Gale and Sidney with them. They just carry the story so much better. Character building and development was really lacking in 5. The new characters were just…there. I’m not happy to admit it but, I’m just not invested in them at all. I mostly blame it on writing, but they were just a waste of time for me.

The chase scene set in Milton's mansion in Scream 3 is really slept on. That one has so many characters and things going on that it's absolutely enthralling to watch, even if it's ridiculous haha

The soundtrack and the scenes of vast landscapes still gives me goosebumps to this day. The scene where Sydney gets off the phone with Tatum and you see her surrounded by hills and emptiness with that haunting soundtrack...

What I want in Scream 6 1. More than 2 ghostfaces 2. Kirby coming back 3. Mark Kincaid being played by Patrick Dempsey 4. Movie taking place outside woodsboro 5. Some of the new cast members being killed off 6. No more mention of the stab franchise 7. A popular actor being the opening kill 8. No flashbacks or hallucinations 9. More screentime for Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox 10. Gale getting a call from GhostFace

I long for the day we get to see a Ghostface’s POV for at least one scene. We always get that sense that they are skilled at doing what they do, but we never see them go through the physical struggle of stalking, breaking in, closing in to their victim, and so on. It would be a good way to replicate the original intro scene, yet making it their own.

I’d like to see Kirby come back but have her directly involved in the story, I do agree with the rest of your points though...

You are so correct about the trailers - my partner and I watched the trailer the moment it dropped, and we both immediately went 'oh, so Dewey's gonna die then'. I'm not saying it would have been entirely unexpected anyway, but it was a big thing to essentially give away immediately, and the moment could have carried a lot more weight in the film if we didn't all know it was coming...

I really hope the directors watch your videos and take notes from this 🤣 Only thing I disagree with personally is I think it would be cool if the second killer gets away or reveals at the very end to the audience that there was a second killer who comes back around for the third. I still like the idea of believing Angelina was a second unmasked killer of the 3rd who faked her death. Would be cool if they actually did that with a killer.

Your idea of the Gale chase scene/finding out the killer is amazing. Would be perfect for the next film to do something like that.

Just imagine a scene of Gale and Sidney discovering the identity of the killer in the middle or end of ACT 2 and then all of a sudden, the killer that got revealed gets a phone call from a secret killer (it’s revealed that there’s a second killer but working on their own as to create more tension and raise more stakes) and so for the rest of the movie, it’s really a mystery and not trust anyone moment. Scene could be written better but just woke up lol

What I'd like to see the most is something like, there's more than 2 killers. It's like the Ghostface's would kidnap two people, and the calls would be who lives and who dies. It would also be super cool to see it be set in woodsboro, and another location, it's like there's two Ghostface's in different locations. That kinda sounds dumb, but I'd be cool.

I would love to see Stu as a secret ghostface or maybe a leader of a cult of ghostfaces. I think more than two ghostfaces would be epic to see. And if rumors are true, than this is the first scream to take place during Halloween. It would be awesome to hear or see a Halloween Michael Myers Easter egg. Or maybe a Jason vorhees reference because the movie takes place in New York just like one of the Friday the 13 movies. I would also like to see more Billy Loomis hallucinations, just because it’s nice to see Skeet Ulrich be the iconic character. My hopes are extremely high, but even if none of that happens, I will still be happy with a Scream movie, even without Neve Campbell, personally (unpopular opinion) I don’t really mind or care that she’s not in it, she didn’t have to be in the 5th one and not really the 4th one either, I think her role is done, but rumors have it, she might secretly return after rumored secret contract negotiations for scream 6 and 7

I’d like to see 1 killer. I’m one of the few that likes Roman, I’d like to see 1 killer again. But I know it would be hard and the idea behind Ghostface is having a partner to help you and to also frame if you have to. I’d also like to see Ghostface not have their own reveal. I’d like someone to just rip off the mask and catch them off guard.

Something that i would like to see was gale winning the pulitzer writing about dewey. it would be ironical cause she always wanted this writing about serial killers.

Oh, how I wish Stu's house being blatantly spoiled as the location of the finale in the trailer didn't happen. I would have had so much fun slowly recognizing the layout and being like "wait, we've been here before." Instead, I already knew it going in so it wasn't a surprise.

1. We need the villain/s to have a wholly original and interesting motivation. 2. The script is the most important thing. It needs to be compelling. Also really need to scrub the logistics. 3. I'd love to see an intro with two new Ghostfaces planning and executing some unaliving, only to be foiled & unalived by a new Ghostface who becomes the main antagonist. Then cut to the title card & opening credits.

THE CHASE SCENES!! I miss them so much. 2's Gale's scene was the best, but Cici's was pretty good as well culminating in her being thrown from the balcony. I miss a scene like hers and Tatum's where Ghostie kills using the sorroundings.

So here is my pitch for a Scream 6: We see a teenager at home, getting the phone call from the killer... only we pan out of the house and we are with Ghostface and see how they operate. How they begin to move the person where they want them, the notes they took for the quiz, so on. Once they are ready they call their partner to say they are going to do it. (we don't know who they are calling) and to prepare their alibi only for them to get a text message basically saying that this time is different and a new variation of Ghostface, a new mask (I'd make it red; black outfit but a red mask. call them Red Death for now) appears and chases Ghostface. A complete reversal of moments earlier with Ghostface now the terrified hunted one before Red Death brutally kills them and the original target is just scared but safe. I'm thinking Scream 5 and how the killers, when faced with their own deaths, become whimpering cringing puddles. The same here. The person only moments ago who was gleefully tormenting their almost victim now utterly scared out of their mind, begging for their life as THEY are herded... and Red Death making their deaths slow. Brutal. Not a good way to die at all. Eventually some legacy characters (Sam, Tara, Sidney, Gale, whoever you want) are contacted and its revealed that on the web there is a Forum where people go to talk about how they'd commit a ghostface killing. Most people just treat it as a joke, grim fanfiction. "Oh, I wouldn't make this mistake, I'd have this person be my partner." Use the comments people on KZfaq have said in their own videos for how they'd like to see a Scream movie go. A meta look at how these films make us put ourselves not just in the mind of the victim but the killer. In fact our new group of friends treated it like that, all getting on there and discussing how they'd kill someone... save for two. They decided they were actually going to do it, using the plans everyone else came up with to do some murders and pin it on their friends. And someone else (Red Death) has decided its time to end the Ghostface legend. Because if you make an example of the killers, kill them in such horrifying ways that everyone is scared to even put on the mask... then Ghostface is done forever. And of course Red Death is targetting everyone on the forum, even if they would never have become a killer... because in their mind even to joke about it makes you guilty. And the actual partner of the Ghostface from the opening won't reveal who they are because they know it means jail time. And now Sidney and the legacy characters have to protect people that treated the trauma they went through as a joke and one of who was planning to become a Ghostface killer. While the Red Death is contacting Sidney making it clear... she's safe. They would never harm her or Gale or an innocent. So why not just step aside and let them avenge every innocent person and put Stu and Billy's legacy to rest?

We desperately need at least one chase scene included in Scream 6 and I love the idea of #6 with Gale discovering the identity and a chase scene after. I don’t think I could deal with Gale being killed off though. To lose another legacy character after the 5th would just be traumatizing 😂😂

I’d actually like to have Kirby back and would gladly exchange any of the survivors from Scream 4 for her I’d also like to see Kevin Williamson come back to write the movie. I think having him back will make for a better movie and better dialogue I’d like to see more of Syd and Gale or leave them out altogether except for a cameo. I didn’t like how the legacy characters were tied in with the newbies in the last film at all. Hopefully Kevin Williamson could better incorporate them. No flashbacks or hallucinations of dead characters this time I’d like to see the aftermath of what happens to Woodsboro. This the third killing spree there, they need to stop making it seem like this cozy little small town and show it slowly being deserted because of all that’s happened there

Scream 1 opening taught us that you aren’t safe alone. Scream 2 opening taught us that you aren’t safe in public. Love to have another opening scene that unlocks fears instead of trying to replicate the original

Totally agree with the trailers not needing to give anything away. Scream has an established fan base, so there is no need to show much of the actual movie. Like you said, we're going to go see it anyway.

Yes, yes and YES to all of the 10 things you mentioned. Thank you! I agree. Especially the opening scene, location, kills and chase scenes. I think it's so important to this franchise at this point on bringing back homages of horror films in Scream 6 and not just name drop for references to horror. That's overkill and boring. Also bringing a refreshing new element on how to bring homages of horror films to Scream 6, like mimicking a kill from Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween, or have the killer not only wear the Ghost face mask but wear other iconic masks from classic horror films. Have unique elaborate set pieces that are replicas from horror films. There are so many creative ways to go meta with horror without the Stab movies included and making it genuinely scary.

I really hope that SCREAM 6 doesn‘t disappoint me, as I really loved SCREAM 5. Would be too sad if SCREAM 6 destroys the perception of the new era SCREAM movies!!

So I wrote a series of scenes for a script writing class back in 2006 where Gayle gets pepper sprayed and chased by the killer and managed to take a picture of the killer blinding them with the flash before her own vision returned. The final third was focused on that camera and people trying to get it /Gayle recovering from the attack

Gale also had a killer reveal moment - she knew who one of the killers was in Scream 2 before it was revealed to Sidney at the end.

They could still bring Kirby back and keep it all part of one streamlined storyline. Think Claire on Final Destination 2 or even Dewey on Scream 5

Scream: Legacy has multiple characters attempting to take the mask off, I’d like to see more of this, “TRYING” to unmask!

For the beginning scene I hope they do one where it's an apartment party and one of them get the call and get to the roof to answer and when the killer reveals its them, the killer pushes them off the roof of a skyscraper. (Its set in NYC btw)

Scream 6 would be good if it started with one or two killers (like normal) but a copycat Ghostface killer also starts killing people. I want to see two Ghostface killers have a fight.

#6 was something i was thinking about too! i was thinking about it happening in the opening scene and the person ghostface are trying to kill actually sees who they are and are able to either kill the killer or have the killer caught. then the rest of the film could be them trying to figure out who the second killer could be since the killings continue or something idk....

I'm hoping for an even darker Ghostface. Imagine a character in bed at night. Shadows in the corners of the room. A figure in the shadows turns around to reveal a white ghostface. Because they've been there watching the victim all night. Lets get sinister.

I was legit watching this video thinking “he better mention chase scenes!!!!” And you did! Legit my BIGGEST complaint about Scream 5 was no chase scenes. I like Ghostface getting beat up and running around and chasing people. Now Scream 5 stood out because it was WAY MORE “boom you’re dead”. Which was shocking and different and I appreciated. But I need the chase scenes back.

I really want to see a commentary on people who are obsessed with true crime/serial killers in an inappropriate way - like Columbiners. I thought that this was the angle they were going to go with for Scream 5, and was surprised when they didn’t. I think it’s a super relevant topic/issue atm and it would be good for Scream to explore it, especially when you consider the franchise’s relationship with true crime - the effect of Columbine on Scream 3’s production and how they made it (sort of) a commentary on violence in cinema, copycat killers inspired by Scream, the first film being inspired by the Gainesville Killer. So much potential for Scream 6’s killers to be individuals who have an unhealthy obsession and love for true crime.

Would definitely agree in a change of location, mainly for the reason you said. I can 100% believe that one woman would be attacked multiple times in her life, but for almost all of those killers t come from her home town? That’s a little harder to chew on. Also agree. I always loved the meta with Stab, but it doesn’t need to be quite so tightly woven into the series. 2 handled it best imo, then 4, then 3 and 5 idk I’m pretty lukewarm on both. Would LOVE to get some originality in the opening scene. 2 by every metric, flipped it. So good. 3’s opening is probably my favourite part, minus the voice changer which still just ugh. 4 I love, but by the time you get to the real opening, the tension has gone. Loved the dual Twitter killer, though. Would love to confirm in the opening scene that there are two killers, it lends itself to different subversions. Do they capture or kill one partway through? Are there three killers? Four? Is it an April Fool’s Day/original Scream 3? etc. My GOD I need a chase scene in these movies. Give me Gale in Scream 2 or Helen in IKWYDLS. Definitely amp up the mystery, in 5 there’s one or two mentions as to who it could be, but it’s barely an element of the plot. Agree with someone discovering their identity, too. Interesting things you could do with that re: mystery, tension and foreshadowing. MASSIVELY agree, I’ve always been irked when Gale said she helped solve them. Cream (2022) is the closest they’ve ever come to ‘solving’ them by Dewey guessing Richie and they knew Amber was trying to trick them. Would love more variety in the kills, definitely. Characters. Characters. Characters. Scream wasn’t a groundbreaking wonderful movie for it’s plot or kills or mystery alone. Characters play such a huge part in that. Re: the marketing. Other than the fact that the actors for Richie and Amber LOOK creepy in real life, Kevin Williamson put out a photo of him posing with Ghostface on the set and I remember being so sad when I saw it because it was clearly Richie’s eyes behind the mask and I was just like??? Bruh. And Amber from the trailer you practically have the whole “Trap? Trap.” scene that gives her away too. Also, would love for Melissa Barrera not to return. I thought she was bad in In the Heights, but she was even worse here. Most of the supporting cast weren’t great, but I can forgive that, but she’s meant to be the focus, and she’s just not good. I agree I don’t want a cliffhanger, but a riff on the ending I would really enjoy would be a reworking of Scary Movie’s ending where Bobby and Ray are just copycat-ing the real killer. Then again that kind of happened with Brandon James at the end of ScreaMTV s2, but worth a thought.

I’m not really sure what cliffhangers you’re referring to. The movies have usually been wrapped up by the end and not really left open-ended. Yes, there is the image of Ghostface on the screen signifying it’s not the last one, but not really a cliffhanger. I think an actually cliffhanger would be a good thing to introduce.

I would want Stu to come back, I’m sure Matthew Lillard would be jazzed to be in another scream and also I think a lot of horror requels overuse the “legacy characters” I wish that scream 6 would have its own independent characters,like feature the teens we saw in scream 5 as their own independent characters and not being babysitted by the legacy characters.

One thing I would love for Scream 6 to have is for Gale to finally get a phone call from Ghostface. We’ve waited over five movies and it’s always Sidney getting the phone call. Have someone else from the main three get called and threatened over the phone. Since Dewey’s dead, Gale is the logical person to call.

My only big problem with the series is that there happens to be a very large amount of crazy psychopathic murders, that mostly come from the same town. By the numbers alone, this is borderline impossible. So having Scream 6 in a different place would benefit the series alot.

With all the Scream movies so far, we've had one big final massacre set piece in which at the end of it the killer (or more commonly killers) reveal themselves, and then stand around with guns and knives talking or doing other things instead of killing off the main characters who are left, until inevitably things go wrong and the good guys get the upper hand and kill the killer or killers. There are so many ways that this tired formula could be changed up, and both Zack and many of the top commenters in these comments are putting forth some amazing ideas about how future Scream movies could really "up the game." Here are some other ideas I have: have the killing sprees take place in very different places on Earth at the same time. Imagine an opening kill taking place in New York City at the same time one is taking place in London or Seattle, for example.

I agree with someone finding out the killers identity early on! I thought it would’ve been so cool in Scream 5 if in the hospital they killed and found out the killer was Amber! Would have changed up the dynamic for the rest of the film in a more interesting way!

I can see them bringing Kirby back as Sam's friend, since they're roughly the same age and would probably know each other. They could rebond over their shared trauma. Though don't bring her back, only to kill her off straight away. I did not really like having the victim survive the opening scene, so please don't repeat that. It lowers the stakes. It worked for 5 as it underlines the incompetence of the killers but next killer should be more lethal.

basically everything you said we need for scream 6, we have in the scream tv series (seasons 1 and 2) honestly its so underrated.

I agree with the different beginning to the movie we've seen someone always answer the phone while being in the kitchen of their house. I think the beginning of the 6th one should be at a school or someone's work place or on a beach or somewhere else like in a car or on a boat or airplane. And there should be more than 2 killers like people they work with or had past relationships with should be the killers and the last person who's a killer shouldn't be revealed until the next movie or keep it a secret.

Not wanting to spoil anything here, but I think the makers of Scream 6 took some notes from you, and it REALLY benefitted. There are some fantastic tense scenes in it. Very much enjoyed it. The only thing that I'd mark as a negative is some jerky editing at the end that kind of obscured what was going on. Having said that, I prefer the characters of 6 (the returning characters are so much more likeable here) and the film kept me guessing until the end.

Or legit she gets revealed and the second killer comes out right away and kills Dewey. That would have mixed it up so much!

I love your idea of Gale actually doing some investigating that leads to an intense chase! An idea I've had, is a Scream with only 1 killer, but the killer sets up situations that frames innocent people to do his/her bidding by having them activate a booby trap or device, so they can then kill in a different location, and have it look like it has to be 2 killers since it would be impossible for 1 person to be in 2 totally different places at the same time.

I would also love for it to take place in a new setting. I think it would be kinda cool to see it take place in Modesto since that’s where Sam came from. I just think it would be cool for ghost face to follow Sam and Tara there. Since I’m assuming Sam is the new Sidney I feel like it would make sense for the scream series to follow her and Tara. I feel like it also makes sense because Richie one of the two killers in scream 5 was also from Modesto.

I really want to see one of the killers either killed or revealed midway through the movie. I think it would be fun specifically If one killer is caught and then it would be cool to see kind of the police interrogating a person throughout the movie and trying to get them to give up the plan or the name of the other killer. I think it would really change the dynamics of the storytelling.

I've often thought of there being two ghostface killers where one dies in the opening scene but the other one continues to kill until the end of the film. idk, just me.

Good list. I agree with everything. Especially the mystery part. What'd be fun is if they did an homage to the Hitchcock film Rope (1948). Have the killer taunt Sam, Sidney, and Gale with a clue that's right out in the open, but in a way that we don't know it's taunting until the reveal. Another way to go would be to do what Barney Cohen had in mind for the Friday the 13th franchise after The Final Chapter. One of the characters is so traumatized by the events of Scream 5, they become Ghostface (Tommy Jarvis was supposed to become the new Jason). Thoughts?

I’d like more psychology implemented into the films. Like show a side of the detectives trying to profile the killer; using evidence to determine whether the killer is organized or disorganized; discovering the MO, the targets, the staging/posing and possibly even a signature. Not every crime has a signature so it’s unnecessary. I guess I’m just hoping for a Red Dragon type film with the meta humor and satire of a Scream film.

U hit the nail on the head! Santa Rosa was the best setting because of its seclusion, picturesque shots and big houses. Tht what ppl really fear, being alone. Any other setting ppl are mostly around, iike suburbs and venues. They can redo Woodsboro n have a story from there but it can only work if they use the original locations, id love to see Sids house back in it. Ghostface chasing Sids trail again, imagine him killing the people who live in her original house in Woodsboro & new owners of caseys hse

Excellent list. I can definitely agree with the first point, which I think applies to other series as well. While I'm a fan of the first four Friday the 13th movies, the feel of the movies changed with parts 3 and 4. The first two movies had been filmed on location in the northeastern US and had a realistic/authentic sort of vibe for me. But then in parts 3 and 4, they switched to locations in California, which don't always look like the same rural areas that the first two movies had.
