I think Judy had the scariest phone called. Getting a stressful phone call while driving is SOOOO nerve wrecking.

I got Amber the minute I saw how “posesive” she was of Tara, and I suspected Richie since he was at the hospital when Sam didn’t told him about Tara being alone, but I still was in denial. I was 90% sure he was Ghostface No2 when he got attacked by Ghostface but just got his arm cut in a pretty similar way to Jill on Scream 4.

I didn't get either of the killers ahead of time, probably because I was enjoying the movie too much to care. I started to wonder about Amber towards the end, but I never thought of Richie. That was a great reveal.

I got Ritchie, when he wouldn't help Dewey at the hospital when Ghostface attacked him. I thought he's either a complete jerk/moron or in on it. Turns out he's all 3. Amber I got a few seconds before she revealed herself, so I guess that doesn't count. 😅

Im going to argue that Liv was a red herring, not because of the initial scene you mentioned but combining that scene with the third act where she comes back in and asks where Chad is. I think two efforts is enough to call her a red herring.

I got Ritchie as soon as he said "I'll come along" INSTANTLY knew. Amber I suspected from the early texts but realized when the house party was being thrown it was 100% her Aka both the love interests

I did get amber right but when Richie tried to convince Sam it might be Tara I actually started to think that as well lol

Yeah 100% on the trailers. They spoiled both Richie and Amber in them, they even edited a t spot that clearly shown Amber was on fire to it being less obvious. In the trailer you could also see Sam stabbing at Richie, you could see the top of his head for a second. They also spoiled Judy’s death, you could see her long blonde hair as Ghostface was stabbing someone at the front of the house it also shown her running towards in another tv spot… They spoiled so much it’s unbelievable, even shown Gale using Dewey’s revolver that you seen him use earlier in the trailer. In summary I’m not watching another trailer for a scream movie lol

This is the very reason I watched the first trailer once just to make sure it was worth watching and then went into it blind. I loved being surprised by so much; like I didn't know the twins were randy's niece and nephew, didn't know Judy was returning, or have any idea who the killers could be. Scream is very much a murder mystery and going into a mystery already knowing "These are the killers" removes that excitement of learning who the killers are in the moment.

I’ve been a Scream fan for years, but this is the first one I’ve ever seen in theatres. It was an insanely good experience, even more chilling considering the cinema was empty except for me and my friend. I barely even thought about who the killer was, I was just so excited to be watching Ghostface on the big screen

I got Ritchie, because it was obvious that they were doing a Sidney/Billy thing with him and Sam. Amber I didn't get the first time, because I had a hard time remembering who she was. When she was revealed I was like Sidney in Scream 3 when Roman was revealed. Very confused. But on the second watch I realized they were pretty obvious with it, especially after the scene in the basement with Randy's niece.

I have to say, Judy and Wes being the killers would’ve been really cool! I would love to hear theories as to what their motives could’ve been! Watching the movie a second time though, I am really happy with Amber and Richie being the killers. I love this toxic fandom idea and I love that in Amber and Richies minds they are the true hardcore fans and only they understand the franchise, but in reality they were sloppy as hell and were super obvious from the start, the movie knows this and does this on purpose in relation to the viewers. I really loved Amber literally just calling people from her phone, and being like “ugh they cloned my phone!” Like that’s such an easy explanation that most people will take at face value, but really just shows how careless she and Richie were.

I’m happy that I guessed Mindy survived. I knew Judy was gonna die but I didn’t realise how upset I’d get 😭 Also Liv!! I wanted more from her!!! I hope she’s in the deleted scene on the DVD release

I guessed Amber was the killer as soon as she made everyone leave the party at her house, it immediately felt like she was trying to get the core group alone so she could more easily pick them off one by one.

I guessed Richie as soon as he was slashed on the arm in the hospital (where have we seen that before lol) but Amber definitely caught me off guard

Okay but let's talk about how Amber and Wes as the killers would have worked pretty well and with a third killer being Judy covering up for them! The potential! The love triangle with Tara! The drama!

I guessed Jack Quaid would be a killer before I even entered the theatre... something about his casting. Didn't guess the 2nd killer though, they did a good job of making you suspect everyone.

His list was actually pretty accurate; Vince was suspicious and even though Amber was a killer she still was off as a character. And even if Richie was a killer he still died🤷

Also I did like the subtle (maybe not so subtle for the hardcore fans) Billy and Stu connection, with Richie being the boyfriend with a blue flannel and Amber being the homeowner who throws a party. The winks and nods are always what make this franchise.

I actually had waited to watch your prediction video until I personally saw the movie, but I also predicted that Wes and Judy were going to be the killers. 1: Dylan M is an amazing actor and I found it easy to picture him giving a killer monologue in Act 3 2: Judy knew Sidney from high school, I thought they’d play around with that and give her motive 3: I thought the mother and son duo would’ve been interesting and somewhat on theme for the franchise I’m okay with their double death though, I mean sitting there watching both my predictions get killed back to back was crazy. I didn’t suspect Amber fully until after the basement scene with Mindy. And Richie stabbing Sam made my jaw drop. I genuinely believed everything he was saying. (I did think it was weird that he acted like he wasn’t a fan of horror/Stab but he’d say stuff that a horror fan would say, but I genuinely thought it was just bad writing, like using any character to be meta)

Before the movie I expected Jack Quaid was one of the killers due to how good an actor he is but had no idea throughout the movie and still got surprised at his reveal. Love your content man, I'm new to the scream fandom but I'm all in now. Looking forward to any and all content going forward

When Judy and Wes died, I was very surprised, I thought they’d live longer/survive the movie. The Dewey death I knew was coming

11:08 For anyone one who said the killer's motive was ridiculous and outlandish, here you go. Legitimately Amber and Ritchies motivation was that Stab 8 was "too woke" and infringed on what came before. So, there you go. They exist out there.

Once they showed Dewey and started showing us what his life is like, and making it kind of like a sob-story, I pretty much knew he was gonna bite it at some point. The moment he walked off that elevator, I knew the time had come. I was pissed. I had guessed it was Amber about 20-30 minutes into the movie (though I didn't get the motive correct. I thought she was obsessed with Tara and we were seeing small spill overs that were disguised as her being protective), but I didn't expect Richie. I had a great time with this movie though

On the first watch I guessed the killers right off that bat. I ended up talking myself out of Amber though until the end because I thought " she's too obvious, it must be a red herring" . I personally didn't like her as a killer at all, but loved Jack Quaid in this movie. Also, I havent heard a lot of people talking about it, but I loved Wes. I thought he was the most likeable new character.

I knew it was Amber when they revealed she lived in Stus house, I knew it was Richie when he told Sam he never watched the movies and in the next scene he said Dewey was “nicer in the movies”

Kind of crazy that a franchise like Scream that depends so hard on the mystery and reveal of the killers/survivors revealed so much in the trailers which is why I tried my best to avoid them. I also went in thinking that Judy was a prime suspect as I think the idea of a killer being someone we knew from a previous movie is very fresh, and they would never make one of the main three a killer. There has also never been a ghostface that was on the police force, which would've added an interesting layer to her motive, alibi, etc. She could've put the frame on someone else (probably Richie in an alternate timeline where he was Trevor 2.0), so that she gets credit for stopping ghostface and becoming the hero sheriff like Dewey was. I'll stop rambling because the way the movie turned out is better than my fanfiction lol.

I only guessed Amber and Richie once I actually watched the movie. Also my heart still breaks for Dewey, I knew it was coming but it's still so sad cuz he was my fav. character in the entire franchise

I love that Wes and Judy were your killers! I only watched the first trailer knowing they show too much. When I got to the theatre, my friends and I saw the poster that said the killer is on this poster and we got Richie right even tho during the movie, I was tricked maybe he wasn’t. But I knew he was the killer in the hospital scene bc Ghostface could have easily killed him! Great reaction overall!

I guessed Amber from the first scene. I don't go all in watching the trailer numerous times and going through all the promo stuff with a fine tooth comb because I want to be surprised. I kind of guessed a legacy character would die but I thought it would be Gale due to the lack of relationship between her and Sydney. I loved the nods to the past, and I fully expected a Stu return due to the revealing of the house. I wished they had kept Stu's house out of the trailer. Scream 6 they need to bring back Kirby and Mark and that should be the final one.

I’m a big fan of this installment of Scream. What I thought would’ve been really cool to see is; not only Sam being haunted by the knowledge of who her biological father was but also who her paternal grandmother was. That would’ve really driven home how haunted she is. I wonder if they even reached out to Laurie Metcalf for this new Scream.

I predicted amber really early on, my boyfriend knew it was Ritchie bc it's always the boyfriend. I didn't think they'd go that route and was totally wrong. He even predicted he'd get attacked (but not seriously injured or killed) half way through so he didn't seem guilty. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I caught on to the Richie/Amber plot pretty quickly. They were both always manipulating the situation, with Amber manipulating the friends and Richie manipulating Sam. Also Richie watching Stab “for the first time” in front of Sam was a clue, that way he could reference it without letting on that he was a super fan and therefore the killer. Towards the end I started questioning if Tara was a killer (possibly a 3rd killer) as she had survived so many times and the plot was so driven by her. Also she seemed to be walking a bit too well in the climax (not a Doctor, but she seemed to recover really quickly from major injuries). I think that would’ve been a great twist but I’m still satisfied with how it ended.

I didn't watch many of the promos either, I left my guesses for when I was watching. I guessed the killers, motive, and sam being billys daughter. was pretty proud of myself haha. Personally, I still think Tara could have been involved somehow? There were certain looks she gave that were sus. Like maybe in scream 6 its revealed she kinda knew what amber was up to, but not to what extremes? i dunno lol

So like you, I didn’t watch much promotional material for this, and I think that was a great decision. Trying to spoil a whodunnit for myself by going through the trailer just taints that first viewing. I had a feeling it was Richie from the beginning, but the Amber reveal shocked me. Up until that point, her character hadn’t made much of an impact to me, so she kinda flew under my radar. I’ve still only seen it once, so I’m excited to watch it again so I can pick up on all the little clues I missed the first time.

Just rewatched the movie tonight and noticed some subtle things that I hadn't before- Amber's Ghostface robe had a little more glimmer to it than Richie's and her kills were usually double handed with a push, she also had those boots on that could have an extra lift thus giving her a little more height outside of the "murderer perspective" we're used to in all of these. So here's my assumptions on who killed/attacked who: -Amber attacked Tara and I think Richie took the video of Amber on a different night or he left Modesto to aid in the carnage and do the video that night seeing as both Modesto and Woodsboro are located in Nor Cal and the drive is seemingly only a couple of hours away based on how long it takes him and Sam to get there the day after the attack. Richie may have done the slash at the door while Amber did the majority of the attack indoors. -Amber killed Vince after they were all kicked out of the bar - Richie attacked Sam at the hospital. (Richie did say later he hoped to be the one who killed Sam, he may have also just been kinda bad at it) - Amber killed Sheriff Hicks (two handed push kill, also the body outline was a little more feminine) - Richie killed Wes (basing on height, Richie is 6'1, Wes is 5'8 and his robe didn't have the aforementioned sheen Amber's did. Richie's kills are also off center and a little shaky possibly with adrenaline, hence why all of his attacks don't result in death or why they're never at a definitive target area like a stomach or back) - Richie got to the hospital, killed the deputy on watch and handed his knife off to Amber hence the double knife for... - Amber to kill Dewey (obvious cause she mentioned it to Gale and we saw Richie who also gave a glance back to Ghostface after she was shot) It also makes sense that she didn't necessarily overpower Dewey, she just was able to use evasive movement (like a roll after he pushed her off) and he's also a man with nerve damage so her attacks were based on going for where he could defend less (mentioning this because I saw a lot of people complaining about the 5'2 Amber being able to overpower Dewey) - Chad was attacked by Amber at the party who probably got a drunken (she was trying to order an Uber but her text said she would pick Chad up) Liv's phone easily at some point during the party - Mindy is stabbed by Richie (again, his aim is off and he came from downstairs where a costume could've easily been stored) - And Amber definitely shot Liv in the head as she revealed herself.

I am very happy i went in with no expectations. I hadn't even seen the trailer. The opening scene was amazing. Had a sneaking suspicion about Amber during the video call but dismissed it and forgot about her after the initial hospital scene. Ritchie really had me back and forth though. Kept finding it strange his very clear obsession with watching the stab movies. His whole KZfaq recommended was for Stab but I chalked it up to easter eggs more so then that. It wasn't until he suddenly shifted from we need to get out of here mentality to hey let me get a beer while i'm here that i finally was weary of him.

I love what your saying at 10:30 about Wes character. We know he has been named after Wes Craven and when you said you didn't have the time in the movie to know him better, that his death happened so soon in the movie and that you would have want to get more from him.... I think this is a pretty cute hommage to Wes Craven from the directors, shared by fans, that we didn't get enough of Wes Craven, he left too soon.

Also, watching a movie without watching lots of promotional material is 100x better, I only watched the first teaser and the posters and that made the experience a lot greater for me

Zack can you do a video mapping out the opening of scream 2 in your own theory of how you think the killers planned and killed Maureen and phil? I always assume Mrs Loomis is sat in the theatre contacting Mickey who is in the toilet cubical waiting for her to tell him when Phil is heading towards the toilets. Also possibly do a countdown list of the all the kills in the franchise in your opinion from worst to best? 😀

I enjoyed seeing you review your predictions prior, hope you do it after seeing 6. I guessed Amber as the killer easily. I was already suspicious with how possessive of Tara she was but then with that basement scene I knew it was her. I was also really suspicious of Richie when he was cut and "knocked out" but not killed, at the end I was between him or Tara. The motive I get it was something different, I just didn't like how easy it was to figure out the killers before the reveal.

I thought of the actual killers, but also about literally all the other characters too... The amount of bait and switch in this film is so impressive, it could have been anyone! The movie (and video) was great!

I heard to keep it unknown all the cast apart from the main 3 were given scripts which revealed they were the killers. So each cast member was given them a script with each script saying the actor whose script it was, was the killer. But the cast soon realised this. But the ones who played Ritchie and Amber were told early on they were the killers. So that way none of the cast apart from the actors who played Amber and Ritchie knew who the killer was. So someone on set might have seen Liv's script and assumed she was the killer.

Just in case anybody didn't know, Jack Quaid is Meg Ryan's son by actor Randy Quaid, so there's ironies involved because Neve Campbell always wished she was in a nice Meg Ryan movie rather than a horror movie, and in the original script at the end of the first screen when Randy helps Sydney untie her father, he actually asked her out to go see a movie, and she basically says "As long as it's a nice Meg Ryan movie."

i got amber but not richie but hear me out. my wife said it wouldve been dumb but i think the 3rd killer shouldve been stu. my thought behind this is just how visceral these kills were. like they required a lot of physicality to pull off and if stu had scretly been in prison for 25 years getting jacked as shit then got out for good behavior or something i wouldve loved that. these kills to me seemed like a man planning these kills for years and the tie in with like reddit and 4chan and stuff wouldve made the killers make more since if they had been radicalized by stu. plus if stu were involved the billy hallucinations wouldve made more since to me imo. plus it wouldve been a nice homage to the original scream 2-3 plot before they turned it into the following i think. i just have hard time giving some of the kills to the killers we got. edit 1: plus stu is the only ghostface to not be shot in the head so hes still out there somewhere 0.0

i guessed amber almost as soon as i saw her during the scene where the friends are outside of the school talking about tara's attack. i couldn't figure out who the second killer would be, so i only get half credit on that. my younger sister suspected everyone, but couldn't take any solid guesses. our mom, however, apparently knew as soon as amber and richie "met" in the hospital, that it'd be the two of them (but then again, mom has a pretty good track record of guessing the killers in movies and tv shows) i do think that if the killers really wanted to stand out and be different than the past ones, they should have been a trio

All I knew was the og cast where back and thats what sold me on seeing it as a long time scream fan it felt like I was watching the original in a way when we had no internet to see trailers. I really enjoyed the movie going in completely blind to what was going to happen.

I was hoping you would be right about Judy & Wes. I think it would have been shocking to have previous survivor Judy revealed to Ghostface, and it would have been great to have her son Wes be her accomplice, because this series hasn't had a mother/son duo be Ghostface in the same movie. Wes's appearance of being cautious could easily have been a smokescreen, and the actor playing him also looked like he could do sinister, too. I'm glad the filmmakers decided to take a different path, because their decisions to kill them off around the midway point was probably the biggest shock of the movie. I think both killers were easy to spot fairly early on, but to the film's credit, Richie did seem like a sweet, supportive boyfriend for most of the film. Amber's involvement was apparent almost immediately, but at least she got to go out in a blaze of glory. Ignore the haters who came on here to brag about how they got it right and you didn't. It's way more fun to enjoy the movie's surprises unspoiled than to comb over the trailer and figure it out ahead of time all for the purpose of feeling smart. It was better this way. Looking forward to your next video!

I feel glad that my prediction turned out to be true. Besides Amber, Richie was so obvious for me, especially from the clip in the trailer where Ghostface doesn't stab him, just beats him.

On my 3rd rewatch I did clock Richie showing up at the hospital for Tara and telling her Sam told him to show up but then we see Sam calling him like 5 minutes later.... I mean sure maybe she's calling again to make sure Tara's okay....or it's her first call asking him to check on her and he was already there

I had read somewhere that Wes was supposed to be some sort of callback to Drew Barrymore's Casey Becker since he was, at the time of its release, the most well-known actor of the younger cast

I was hoping you were going to make an in-depth “trailer -> movie breakdown” and why trailers ruin the experience. I was like you, I watched it once (maybe twice) when it was released but never went back to it. So glad I did that. Also, it was Gale that didn’t like the lemon squares.

At 5:26 to be fair, Mindy and Liv were the killers in the dummy scripts handed out to the actors during early stages of the film. Mikey Madison reveled this in one of her interviews. And at 9:14 Matthew Lillard did have a cameo as the chrome ghostface in Stab 8 being reviewed by James and Chelsea of Deadmeat 😁
