Most of these are that. I honestly don't see him coming back to a WWE ring as a performer ever again. Studios risk way too much money on him for him to get injured. I would be willing to bet that he contractually can't anymore. Its okay we get him in amazing films and we have his body of work in the WWE on demand. The amount of draw, heat and pop that he got during the attitude era is unbeaten to this day.

Right? half the list isn't so much that he refused to wrestle people, it's that his schedule just didn't allow for it to happen because he's moved on from wrestling into other ventures.

He did turn down the matches which is still technically saying no but I do admit the way the title is worded it makes it kinda sound like he turned the matches down because of him not believing the other guys were on his level or something negative like that. Using the word "refusing" was the problem because that word makes it sound like we were gonna be hearing how he refused to work with these certain talents because of something negative like him not wanting to waste his time on them or not feeling they were the right level of opponent. When as we seen, almost all of them were strictly just scheduling conflicts and the fact he got injured with Cena, which cost movie studios and himself alot of money which then changed everything moving forward. The only two I believe that was actual refusals because he just did not want to do it was Shawn Michaels and Billy Gunn which he did work with Billy one on one at a SummerSlam , he just didn't want to continue it after most likely due to billy just wasn't getting over as a singles and even being in there with rock didn't work and rock was smart enough to realize it and feel it so he didn't want to continue. And I dont blame him one bit for saying no to working with Shawn after the way Shawn treated him when he was just coming in young and Shawn was on top. Plus if the stories are true about Shawn disrespecting his grandmother years prior which knowing how Shawn was back then I could easily believe it's true, I commend rock for refusing because at that point it was kinda like how cm punk famously told tripe h about their mania match coming up before punk left ("no disrespect but I don't need to wrestle you, you need to wrestle me")! Which was great lol. Shawn would be the only one that would benefit working with rock at that point because rock was the biggest star in the company by far and one of the biggest stars in the world then. So he was big enough then to call his own shots and he did and I don't blame him. But rock has always had the reputation that he would work and put over about anybody. It was all his choice to work with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in 2002 and put him over clean In the middle from bricks finisher. He went to Vince with that idea , not the other way around.

Yes, I think Shawn and Billy Gunn are the only matches where he outright refused to work with, due to obvious reasons.

He always has had the rep of working with and putting over anyone that Vince asked and rock was actually the one that went to Vince and said he wanted to work with Brock at that SummerSlam in 2002 and put Brock over clean in the middle. Which at that time was HUGE! That match and clean win and then the hell in the cell match and clean win over taker right after was what made Brock. Cause clean wins in the middle with no gaga over The Rock and The Undertaker at that time did not happen often, hell it hardly ever happend. So that really speaks to how rock and taker both viewed Brock at that time way before Brock was the mega star he later became, which is saying alot!

@@tomkee4479 Agreed, when it comes to putting over upcoming and mid card wrestlers, the Rock (Dwayne) has no parallel. Hell, I still remember how he lost to Hurricane (Who was a cruiserweight at best) and also tried to help BookerT in their feud. I kind of feel sad why no wrestler felt inspired enough to follow in his footsteps. While Dwayne was in wrestling full-time only for 6-7 years, he gave more to the business than high profile wrestlers who worked for decades. Wrestling is a dog-eat-dog world, it is rare to see somebody as genuine as Dwayne in it.

I don’t blame the guy. He never got really beat up because he was essentially retired 6 years after his debut. And he missed months at a time more than once to film movies. He came back to wrestle at wrestlemania every now and then but he wasn’t doing house shows.

It was the Kliq and HBK. HBK tried to convince Bret Hart to Bury The Rock and Bret Refused. It’s one of the big reasons rock refused to ever wrestle HBK. They didn’t cover that in this video but given what Shawn tried to do to him I Can’t say I blame him.

there was that one time where HBK tried to convince Vince to have Rock drop the IC belt to Bret but Bret said no coz Rock needed the IC belt at the time.

But as I say that , they booked rock vs booker t right away and some would argue DDP was a bigger star than booker at that time but booker was wcw champion at the time and a heel so it worked out while trying to book a Babyface DDP against the rock would not have worked most likely.

As busy as he is just about every single day, I don't see when he would find time to wrestle matches on a regular basis. Now and then? Maybe, but between Movie Projects and Television Project where would he find the time?

He only gonna have time when he needs a holiday. As much as he loves wrestling, why in the hell he filling his off days doing WWE time? Beside you can't simply jump into the ring at any given time and be done with it. Your body need time to adjusting to ring life again. At best he only return to WWE as the hype man, not the main attraction on the ring.

Bret always saw the bigger picture, especially because of how Hogan did business with the younger talent that needed that strong boost to carry the company. Bret was a great champion, very respected and respectable. Can you imagine if Hogan took the L to push Hearts 💕 Legitimacy that much further ?? That would've made Shawn a even bigger star.

I mean not really Their times when they were on top where completely separate, almost down to a tee. HBK stopped in 98, right around the rock was picking up steam, and when he returned in 2002, the rock was halfway out the door for Hollywood.

This titles wording is misleading. The only entry the Rock refused to work with for personal reasons was Shawn Michaels. The rest he either did(BillyGunn), or couldn't do due to his Hollywood schedule (pretty much everyone else not named Shawn Michael's and Billy Gunn on the list) the John Cena entry is flimsy at best because it ended up happening. Roman Reigns is still a very strong possibility. Though as more time goes by it feels less likely

There's no spark in that matchup. The same way fans didn't seem to care much about Edge vs Reigns till Bryan was added to make it intriguing.

Not true. There's different types of greatness in wrestling. Ric Flair was a wrestler. Bret Hart was a wrestler. Hogan was an actor. Rick was an actor. All four are great, just different.
