Love the picture of this beauty with the Smart car in the background. Talk about comparing Apples to Oranges.

My late aunt had one exactly like the one in the video; only the steering wheel was different it had the rim horn I really liked that car

yes, both trailers were groaning! The car has a trailer hitch, I think that box under the dash manages electric brakes for a trailer (7 pin interface by the hitch). 25 exterior colours and SIX different vinyl roof colours available (probably around 40 interior combinations as well). AZ sun fried the roof off, but didn't split the dashpad. I don't know what Chrysler made the dashpads from (60's-70's) but you would see parts cars that have been sitting outside for years, dashpad like new!

That VW had one really big job on its hands with this big boy! Wherever it's headed across the water, all they need to do is put some more vinyl on the roof and they will have a great road car!

It used to be nice. A truly great car to drive when in good condition. But this particular automobile is a piece of junk.
@allenwayne20335 жыл бұрын
Ha! There's always someone on every Imperial video that has to carry on about it NOT being a Chrysler.
@727100bear4 жыл бұрын
Allen Wayne it might seem petty but the fact remains that from 1955 until 1975 Imperial was considered by the Chrysler Corporation as a separate marque and thus had a separate division within the corporation. For those of us who feel Imperial was superior to Lincoln and Cadillac, this IS very important. To further distinguish Imperial, production was moved from the Jefferson Avenue facility to the exclusive Warren Avenue factory in 1959. Elwood Engle, Chief Styling VP, tried hard to differentiate Imperial, especially during the later years, from the Chrysler line but costs made this impractical as the years progressed. What bothers me most is that the LeBaron 4-door hardtop roofline is no different than the one offered on the least expensive Chrysler Newport 4-door hardtop - especially noticeable on the 1972-73 models which in other comparisons, were two of the most beautiful model years for Imperial

The “Chrysler “ script was added as a concession to those people who kept claiming that the IMPERIAL was a “Chrysler” , even after it WASN’T one anymore. The execs at Mopar just got SICK and TIRED of people saying it….OVER and OVER…so they said , “WE GIVE UP!!” What the “Chrysler” DIEHARDS never knew, (or DID know, and would never TELL YOU), was TWO THINGS…no make that THREE: 1) In 1954, The Chrysler Corporation sent word to ALL MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENTS in the then 48 States that,beginning in 1955, The IMPERIAL would no longer be registered as a Chrysler, but as a SEPARATE MAKE of CAR. 2) Beginning in 1957 (after all the internal numbering systems were worked out) IMPERIALS would have their OWN MAKE CODE in their VIN numbers: “Y” for all IMPERIAL models (Custom, Crown, and LeBARON) versus “C” for all Chrysler models ( Newport, Windsor, 300, New Yorker) Had IMPERIAL remained a “Chrysler”, as all the diehards said, it would have continued to to carry that “C” make code, just like other Chryslers…but it DIDN’T….so it WASN’T. 3) Even as early as 1954, all corporate ads of the time listed IMPERIAL separate from Chrysler…to prepare the public for the big change coming in 1955. Want PROOF ? a) www.pinterest.com/pin/334673816029267863/ b) www.pinterest.com/pin/534239574516728735/ Interestingly, by 1974, The “Chrysler” script was REMOVED from ALL IMPERIAL MODELS. Finally, as even MORE PROOF, look at THIS: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_(automobile)?wprov=sfti1 …and these COMMERCIALS of the period. EVERY ONE of then refers to the IMPERIAL as SEPARATE From Chrysler: 1959: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fadlZNKcq8mXY4k.html 1957: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etqpepybtpe9lJc.html 1955: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oJx4lZqbs5_MYKM.html So you see, there is FAR MORE PROOF that IMPERIAL was SPUN OFF of Chrysler into IT’S OWN MAKE …then the OTHER WAY AROUND!! But the “Chrysler Imperial” diehards REFUSE to ADMIT it…even to THIS DAY !!

I Really like the subject matter (huge understatement for huge cars) but we need some music ! There must be a thousand songs which would be perfect for this car. That's only a constructive criticism. Thanks for posting this because I enjoyed having a real close-up look at this car (whilst listening to Martha and the Vandellas on the radio !!)

Were front vent windows an option on these... like they were on '74 - '78 New Yorkers?

This 1972 Imperial LeBaron, by Chrysler is an ideal candidate for a full restoration, Wow just beautiful, A must have for the classic American car lovers. Looks to me like the Imperial is in The United Kingdom, as the Cars in the background appear to be English?. Do you happen to know where the Imperial is today, 27th AUGUST 2018. I live in south Manchester England, and given the chance would have a look at this beautiful car in person.

Is this imperial unit body? How are the axles mounted?
@mikkomaijala3662 жыл бұрын
Imperials from 1957 to '66 model years (and of course previous models) had body-on-frame -construction. From'67 onwards they were built on the same unibody platform with other full-size Mopars. They shared the same basic design and chassis engineering. BTW: Did You know, that the '57 - '66 Imperials were banned from demolition derbys. The almost indestuctible strong body on a very sturdy frame was considered unfair advantage..!

it is actually an imperial lebaron, not a chrysler imperial lebaron! imperial was the top of the line, not model!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called "Abgasbespaßung". :-(((
