@vwolop continued...impacts (the car impacting the object, the body impacting the seatbelt), the third impact (the internal organs impacting each other) would be significant enough to rupture organs. The secret to crash survival is to slow this third impact down the most. This is done now with belt-tensioners and force limiters that literally "give" so the occupant can decelerate at as slow a rate as possible. Not to mention the hot-ass engine that would be sitting in his lap though...

I currently own one of the cleanest MK2 GLI 16Vs in my region and can also attest to not wanting to wreck that on account of it folding-up like a piece of aluminum foil! Back-on-topic...
