I would argue that if the Cowboys brought this roster to Candlestick for the NFC Championship Game, the Cowboys would have been the first team to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls. This win against the Cardinals was the middle portion of a 3 week run where they first destroyed the Redskins 34-7 and then the Eagles 24-13 a week after this game. A week after the impressive victory over the Eagles, Erik Williams was lost for the season (e.g., car accident), and entering the 1994 NFC Championship Game, the Cowboys were a M.A.S.H. unit on offense. No Erik Williams, Emmitt Smith played with a pulled hamstring, Larry Allen had a severely sprained ankle, and Nate Newton played with a dislocated toe. In the 1st quarter of the NFC Championship Game, Dixon Edwards came out of the game with a separated shoulder. Fans can scream from the rooftops that Jimmy Johnson would have coached the team to a victory, but that fantasy ignores the fact that the Cowboys were 7 point underdogs, they were playing on the road, and that the 1994 49ers were clearly better than the 49er teams that Johnson coached against in the 1992 and 1993 NFC Championship Game.

IF IF IF…jeez if the Niners didn’t get screwed with a couple of bad calls in the 92 NFC title game they would have beaten the cowboys then. We could do this all day long.

I believe if Jimmy would of remained hc of Dallas they would of been the first team and only team to win four straight Superbowls. In that third nfc championship game Dallas would of never fell behind 21-0 in the first qrt. They nearly came back in that game , with Jimmy as hc there is no doubt in my mind Dallas would of won that game.

Remember when the Cowboys secondary actually had awareness and looked to make plays on the football while it was in the air? Good times they were.

Buddy Ryan owned the Cowboys between 1987 and 1990 when he was with the Eagles. By the time he was head coach for the Cardinals, his retread players like Seth Joyner, Clyde Simmons, Wilbur Marshall, Andre Waters, Terry Hoage on defense just were too slow against the Cowboys. By that point the Cowboys were already better than the Eagles starting in late 1991 and in 1992 the rest of the NFC East and the NFL. The Cardinals had no chance with retreads like Jay Schroeder and Steve Beuerlein at QB in this game. The Cardinals still put up a challenge in the next Cowboys game but lost 28 to 21 with backup Rodney Peete. Either way, Buddy neglected the offense when he was with the Eagles and Cardinals and that's why Buddy has no playoff wins as a head coach.

First, Darren Woodson should be in the Hall of Fame. To think that Lynch, Easley and for Chris's Sake Brian Dawkins are n there, especially Dawkins and NOT DARREN FUCKING WOODSON??? Darren is the ONLY defensive player from the Cowboys 90's dynasty that deserves to be there. No one can bring forth an argument why he should not be. Darren Woodson SHOWED UP in the playoffs and Super Bowls...unlike the Bran Dawkins and Ken Easley. About this game, Irvin, Moose and Stepnowski said Troy was different in the huddle. He was wanting to kill them and Buddy Ryan. Troy was always a classy player but they said for the first time they sawTroy wanting to run up the score on them. Step said if Troy could have killed BUddy Ryan that day he would have. A month later the Cards cheapshoted Troy all over the field and still the Cowboys beat them.

Out of the 3 Cowboys teams that won the Super Bowl in the 90's this was THE BEST team and they did not win. Why? Because Paul Taglibue and the NFL discovered AFTER the season that the 49ers were OVER the cap and the NFL let them get away with it.

Out of Cowboys teams that DID not win the Super Bowl,, I would rank this team #4 (They would be behind 1978, 1981, 1982,,21994 and then1973). People do not understand the injuries the 1973 team took. Honestly, the 1973 the best the BEST Cowboys set of wide receivers but the injuries to Otto Stowe, Hayes,Calvin Hill and Bob Lilly crippled them The 1994 team had the absolute BEST special teams squad the Cowboys ever had Bill(Bates KenyGant, Brock Marion, Vanderbeek, Fishback, Clayton Holmes,Woodson and Jim Schwantz were ALL assassins (well maybe not Holmes...but he was good). The Cowboys never had a complete special teams like this team. Add in our best long snapper (although our current is awesome) Dale Hellestrae and Chris Bonoil. It was a shame, to be donw in by a 49ers team so clearly over the Cap. It was announced in March 1995. Fuck the NFL...such a joke of a league.We had great special teams under Jimmy and certain years under Landry but NOTHING like this team.

What about 2007?

@jyl818 5 жыл бұрын
@@benjaminpeters6729 The 2007 team was good, but they were not beating New England, even if they had gotten past the Giants and beaten Green Bay in the NFC Championship game. I remember that '07 regular season game between Dallas and New England, here at Texas Stadium. The 1st half was pretty tight (24-21 I think), but the Patriots went nuts in the second half and the 'Boys got blown out. Superbowl may have been closer, but I'm not sure Romo and Co., would have kept it within 10 points. The '94 squad should have 3-peated. Losing Jimmy hurt because they lost a little bit of their edge. Niners added Ricky Watters, Ken Norton Jr. and Deion Sanders which gave them a big boost in attitude. Even with that, if Dallas didn't get overwhelmed 21-0 in the first 5 minutes of the game...I think Aikman/Irvin/Smith would have held up against Young/Rice/Watters. I'm not sure SF would have been as confident throughout the game if they didn't have that huge cushion.

@@jyl818 it was a little closee than the final score indicated. The Patriots went up 38-24 but Dallas had a chance to cut the lead in half. They settled for a field goal. The finals score shouldve been 41-27. But the Patriots tacked on a td that was set up by a sack fumble when Dallas was in full gamble mode. New England could have knelt out the clock but decided to score a punch in td.

FELONY: A few thoughts. IMO, the 1978 Cowboys were the only non-Super Bowl winning Cowboys team that was better than the 1994 Cowboys. The main reason being that unlike the 1981 and 1982 teams, the 1994 squad was loaded on the defensive side of the ball, ranking Number #1 in the NFL in total defense. In terms of special teams, I agree that the 1994 Cowboys were outstanding, so it was disheartening to see them lay an egg in the 1994 NFC Championship Game. Fumble by Kevin Williams on a kickoff return, Boniol missing a 27 yard field goal, and Jett shanking a punt just before the end of the 1st half which quickly led to a touchdown pass to Jerry Rice. Those 3 special teams errors cost the Cowboys 17 points. Yikes.
