2 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS TO USE IN MEDITATION - Sometimes we can feel confused in our meditation practice on what we should be doing and not doing. In this week's video, I share 2 questions I use frequently to guide me in my meditation practice. These 2 questions capture the essence of meditation. Use those questions frequently in your practice to keep things simple and clear.
Let me know if you enjoyed the video and feel free to leave comments and questions!

Olivier- Glad to see you back. When I face difficult situation, feelings, emotions, pain etc I try to be with them like you suggested me earlier. It is difficult sometime to be with them but when I do it with practice and strong intention I am able to overcome the situation quickly and I feel like my mind and body is under my control. The mind can give me thoughts but cannot take my attention into the thought. I have to witness & Be present. I guess this is the reason why Buddha said- "Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional". Feelings and emotions will be there, they will arise but with that feeling, emotions I suffer or not that is my choice. Thanks for sharing. Take care... ❤️❤️❤️

@@PeacefulBreathing Hi Olivier, I have been well: meditation and loving kindness have become part of my daily life and positively changed every aspect of it. But I am still a junior meditator and look forward to your guidance

That’s great that you practice loving kindness meditation. I love how it opens my heart especially when I wish well to all beings. Someone asked me to share about how to deal with anger so I’ll be sharing about that and other topics … I was in Vietnam with my wife and son so I focused on them. I’d like to organize some live sessions where we can practice together, share together and support each other really. So stay tuned for more info on that!

Do you have a video already on how to meditate when really triggered by anger or suicidal thoughts or is it best to distract self another way and try and come back to meditating when not so charged up?

Hi! I will actually make a video series on anger. I feel there's so much of it in the world now that one of the best thing we can do is learn how to deal with it so look out for those videos, I'll probably start releasing them in a week or so! It is always best to calm ourselves first before looking into our emotions. It's like having a fire within us, the first thing to do is to put it away. I like to take deep breaths to calm my body which in turn will calm my mind. I like to reconnect with natural elements because i find it soothing. It can simply be like going outside and looking up at the sky and connecting with its spaciousness, its vastness. It really helps me calm down. And yes, at times, distracting yourself can be a solution, but only temporary. In a way, deep breaths, focusing on calming the body, reconnecting with nature are ways to turn your attention elsewhere from the trigger. If we keep our mind on what triggered us, we will keep fueling the fire in us. Does this help?

@@PeacefulBreathing yes that makes sense to try and calm self first before trying to sit, as i figure it would cause rumination from lack of movement of body perhaps. Im just trying to find alternatives because i smack and punch things and my body up when too frustrated. I suspect its related to being on the spectrum for aspergers though bc i dont think neurotypical people want to ram their body into stuff trying to get the emotion out of their body...

@@MsPopo81 Yes, body and mind are very much connected. So it can be skillful to release the energy in the body. Calming, stretching, running or exercising ... I think as you become more aware of your inner life, as you practice more and more, your mindfulness will grow stronger and it will become easier to lean into other alternatives and not fall back into habit energies which in the end, is what we are training ourselves in ... when something happens, we react in a way we've learned for a long time. Mindfulness allows us to recognize that and change our habitual response. Patience and perseverance my friend!
