2002 Dodge Grand Caravan instrument cluster dash gauges not working.

The gauges and lights from the instrument panel stopped working, this was after I jump started the van. Turn signals wouldn't work fuel gauge would not work speedometer odometer and temperature would not work. This video shows how I was able to fix it quickly.

This was very help. I had the problem described and watched other videos with suggest. For some reason, I put in the same search and got this link. I previously tried changing out the 20A fuse with no success. But, pulling the 15A IOD fuse and replacing did the job. You save me hundreds of dollars in repairs and lots of hastles.

Thank You for the video sir. It fixed my problem. All my instrument cluster lights went out. I pulled the IOD fuse as you suggested for a few minutes and reinstalled it back and my lights came back on. Thanks you so much for the time and frustration that you saved me!

O! My ,man thanks 🙏! I swap batteries and magically cluster stop working, it drives me crazy, I had exactly the same problem, wish I saw it before taking the dash apart, the little red wire was broken at the very end of the battery terminal ,thanks again lol

Thanks, I changed the battery terminal before Hurricane Ida hit and haven't touch the van until today and I had no dash. All fuses good... Then I saw your video and I forgot to hook that wire back up. never would have guessed. Thank you.

Thank-you! So glad to find your video. No instrument panel function (except back lighting), and after watching your video, I verified that the turn signals and hazard lights did not work, also. It was that small wire connection on the battery terminal. I'm guessing the small black wire on the negative terminal might cause the same....?

It would likely cause issues with something if disconnected.

Thanks for posting. I'll have to check out that battery connection. My vehicle is a little older, so things are different, but I noticed the gauges and mileage display intermittently fading out before they disappeared, which is entirely consistent with a poor connection. Hope it's not a solder connection way back in the circuit board, as many other videos have noted, which would be a bugger and a half to get to.

Check your fuse box under the hood.

It's not the wire. Its the disconnect battery that resets the computer system that fixes the problem!

I'm not sure what you mean. But, if I remove the wire, the problem exists, when I reconnect it, it works. The reason it happened to me is the battery died and had to be swapped. When I replaced the battery the dash cluster stopped working. Removing the battery terminals and cleaning the posts and inside the terminals, then replacing did nothing. Upon inspection, the connection point of the wire was corroded and not making a good connection. Cleaning it and replacing it to the terminal solved the problem.

You have a short somewhere. Hard to tell where to begin but check the wires under the dash, maybe an aftermarket radio, maybe the red wire from the positive lead is touching ground.

@@percky-doo-doo a fuse blowing is to much current running through it, if it blows straight away then that leads me to believe you have a direct short. I believe if it was a faulty module oh, the fuse would not blow but you would still not have any gauges. You will need to research what exactly is on that circuit, and search free short on everything within that circuit. I do not know how to test for a short to find it quickly, I would just be able to look at wires within the circuit to see if I could find something. Anything beyond that is beyond my capabilities. If you find out everything that fuse controls, you could start disconnecting items one at a time to eliminate the faulty component. Once you find the one that is causing the short, you can look at that one in detail.
