A Camry XLE V6 is the same vehicle as the Lexus ES300 from that time, so the Camry could be optioned to match the ES.

2006 and back camrys are the best ever made as far as reliable and cheap to maintain. 2007 and up are ugly 4 cylinders had oil issues if not changed all the time on time with best oil. But still good but 2006 and before can be gotten cheap and if cared for 300k miles is easy to reach if they were maintained decently and can be picked up at good prices if you look for them. OH next week look for camrys on road you will see a lot of older ones, more than any other brand car. They last

The only other car that's as common is the 2000-05 Chevy Impala. Both cars are very common here in the Midwest.

I drive a 2005 Camry XLE V6 and just hit 247K miles. The car is bulletproof. I see about 5-10 Camrys a day from this era.

I know they made a handful of them in other generations (always really rare,) but for the XV30 I couldn't even find information on what model transmission the V6 has. I was actually looking to see if I could swap a manual into this car a while ago. Ended up buying a '17 GT86 a few months ago instead lol. I'd have driven the Camry forever if it didn't cost a literal fortune to upgrade/improve. Next to no aftermarket since it's an econobox

@@randomrazr OH boy this story makes me mad. So I was pulling out of a gas station. The road I needed to go on was 2 lanes and the the right of me 2 extra turning lanes going left were where I needed to be. So I was trying to make a right turn and cross 2 lanes to get to those turning lanes. To the left there was apt of traffic coming. I had no intention of going at all but the in the lane closet to me this Ford F-150 slows down quit a lot and has so much traffic behind him. I should have just sat there. I know. But for some reason I cared about everybody else having a slightly annoying moment. So anyway I go and being in a sedan you can't see over anything and in the inner most lane a old 2000s Dodge Minivan was coming and I slammed I to him. My car did a 180 and went into the gas stations lawn. It took me a long time to realized what happened as I never saw the minivan. I was in shock basically amd hyperventilating and all that.oh boy that was the hardest I've cried in years. Some guy stopped and made sure I was alright and the Caravan driver wasn't upset at all. I was confused on what happened. The driver and the other guy were more worried about me and my car than anything else funny enough. They both kept saying what a good looking car it was and all. The Caravan driver said something told him he to not drive his Corvette that day! Anyway it took a long time to figure out if the Camry was totaled cause it was a week before Christmas. For months afterward I would just say out loud "MY CAR.... :(...." The insurance company actually gave me more money that the car was worth cause they said I took such great care of it which I find weird. I ended up getting a 2016 4Runner. Loved it. Much more practical than the Camry and I used the space a lot. But I never got the feeling from it my Camry gave me. And eventually I was tired of paying 400 a month. So I gave it to my parents in February and I went back to my first car which was a 2000 4Runner that me and my brother learned to drive in. He is in the military so I went back to that.

*2007-2009. 2010 and 2011 got a new 4 cylinder engine.

02-06s most certainly did have the same oil burning issue, on top of head stud/head gasket and rod bearing issues. They only admitted to it being a problem for the 07-09 models, but wouldn’t admit it for the earlier ones. Also - very weak automatic transmission on the 02-06s. Pretty common for them to fail between 100k-120k miles.

@@spenserchalkley7013 was that only on the i4? i sold my 03 v6 with the auto to my dad and he's still driving it at over 200k miles, zero issues beyond having to replace the starter

Correction, since 1997 with the exception of 2001. In 2001, more Accords were sold than Camrys.

Classic Toyota 🤣 my 2000 Corolla burned oil like no ones business, besides that it ran fantastic. All of my V6 Toyotas (2006 3.3/2008 3.5) have been very reliable, no oil burning problems in any of them.

it depends on the former owners. My 4 cylinder does not have that problem and the best way to check it is to finger the exhaust pipe. If its dry, good, if its soggy and oily, avoid that car

I couldn't find any more Pontiac sedans locally to replace my rotted-subframe '05 Grand Prix, so I just bought a '05 Camry XLE V6 with 246K miles for just over $3K. I hope to get some good years out of it.

Motor trend got 7.5 0-60 for the current 4 cylinder not to bad. Car and driver got 7.3 so mid to low 7s.

he is right about invisible mine is white with sport and gray aftermarket wheels and i can run 10 -20 over speed limit anywhere and no cop even looks at me LOL had a 300zx twin turbo for yrs more tickets than you can fit in glove box. Love the stealth of my camry

Take it to a good mechanic you trust and pay him $100 or whatever to do an evaluation and tell you if it has any major issues. $4K for a good 2002 Camry is not a bad price if it’s sound mechanically and the body and interior are good. I personally would prefer a 2003-2006 because 2002 was the first model year for that generation Camry and I always worry about buying a car from the first model year in its generation. I like to give the company a year or two to find and fix issues after launch. But then again I’ve bought Hondas in the first model year and they’ve been great and I would expect the same from Toyota. But the key thing is to take it to a mechanic. I would never buy a used car without having a good mechanic check it over first. And if the seller won’t let you do it, walk away.

Pulls decent, tops out at 130 to 140, at 70 cruises great with 30mpg at those speeds. 4 speed auto is plenty for a sedan. Have 03 v6 xle and live it for what it is. Smooth good milage, can go when needed but no sports car lol but as reliable as a anvil. Affordable also. 325k miles and still runs great, best car to buy in 3000 to 5000 range.

Was normal in mid 2000s 4 speeds were normal. I have 03 v6 xle has some get up and go, not sports car fast but plenty for getting in traffic, cruises at 80 with 30mpg

Starting in 2005 all models had the 4-spd auto replaced with a newer 5-spd auto. So only 05-06 have the 5-spd trans.

But on hwy at 70 to 80 mph i get 30 plus mpg, useful in america and really camry is no sports car lol

There were XLE trims with cloth seats that didn’t get heated functionality. And I’m pretty sure side airbags were an option across all years. In 2005 a lot of features became standard on all trims but I’m not sure if side airbags were one of them.

I have a 03 Camry LE with the 3.0 V6, it's a nice car, very comfortable and reliable.i've owned for a year and not givin me one problem, doesn't feel cheap and is rock solid.hummm, typical Toyota.

This is a practical car that will last a long time. Why complain about it?

As you get older you careless about what's hip and desire more things in life that become more important. Like saving cash that you'd use for a exotic car /repair bills and buy a vacation home driven by a camry owner. Cars are fun but awful ín monetary return, so get the most bang for the dollar.

This vehicle is a great 1st car for a high school student. Reliable and bland.
