2006 3.7 jeep commander engine swap 1/2

Im working on a 2006 jeep commander 3.7 v6 doing a engine swap. The motor was running but during a lot of oil and using coolant. I plan on getting a recycled engine with about 60 thousand miles to put back in.

I need this in my 2007 jeep commander SO BAD. 😞 But I dont have the time to do this. Nor the tools. I believe i have cracked head gasket/gaskets. And have water on cylinders. Causeing it not to crank 😪 it has a new starter and battery is good.

Yeah it could be the case. You can take out the spark plugs one at a time to see what cylinder has water in it. If issue is just the head gasket it can be changed while engine is till in the car but it’s a tough job unfortunately.

I haven’t done 4.7 but If it has a subframe I’m sure it’s pretty similar.

@@Blakethegoat well, the way I did so is probably not recommended. I looped a strapped around the top steel bar above the engine. This bar is mounted to the body on both sides so, it allowed me to pull up on the body only.

@@MatthewBecker7 why is not recommended? I watched both vids and that thing kicked ass. I don’t have one but was thinking of renting one for a day or to swap engines from one commander to another

Yeah I agree! it worked out perfect doing it this way! I guess what I meaning is the cross bar I used to lift the body was definitely not meant for this but did the job. Maybe if you use a chain and find a couple spots to connect it would be safer. Yeah the forklift is nice, it would even be better if you rented a load all with forks that can be extended outwards, would make it easy to move the jeep side to side.

Pull the intake pull the engine out the top?

Sure that's possible but with a forklift on hand it's easier pull the assembly out like that and drop it back down on the new stuff and just bolt the Crossmember/ subtract back on .
