Did you use the one piece timing cover gasket or just the o rings ? Both come in the kit and i cant find the answer some say you can do either some say only the 2 O rings and the water gasket one.. the one piece one looks better to me , i dont know which one is correct..

You have to use everything brother. The gasket goes around the cover. Then you have a front seal that goes around the crank.

Loved your video. I am about to take my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo to the shop Friday and I am expecting them to tell me I have a cracked block or something terrible due to loss of coolant and oil without any symptoms or visual leaks other than knowing I'm losing oil and coolant. I love this jeep so much that I am willing to replace the engine in it. Can you give me some pointers on what and where to purchase a reliable 3.6L that will last me at least 100,000? I have 200,000 miles on it now. Just replaced struts, shock absorbers, front suspension, starter and dropped $1,000 on new BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires on it. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if yo know how much it would cost to purchase the engine and have someone replace it. Thank you sir!

The motor I purchased from advanced auto for around 3000. I did the install myself which saved tremendous money. If a shop was to do it for you I’d estimate 10 hours labor times their rates. It seems to me that you have a bad head gasket. If you check the oil is it white and milky? That’s a sure sign that you have a bad gasket. Did you ever over hear it?

getting a remanufactured engine for my 2005 grand Cherokee 3.7 L, should I get anything else other than headers and throttle body? also was the swap difficult
@MrV2u4 жыл бұрын
There is only 2 hard issues with the swap. Getting the upper intake plenum out because it’s so close to the supper cowl. And you’ll need another set of hands to help you fight it out. The other problem is the top bell housing bolts, you have to drop the tranny cross member and lower it all the way down to get to it with a dramatically long extension with a swivel and socket. I put in the headers and fastman throttle body since the engine was out already. The jba headers weren’t easy to bolt in as well being that the flange on it really doesn’t give you much room to get the bolts in toward the back. It’s all doable with patience a little blood and many words of rage. Let me know how you make out brother. Or if you run into any issues or questions.

I added jba headers, fastman throttle body work slow and make sure you don’t pinch wires hoses etc. let me know how it turns out brother.

Love this video bro, i got a question. Can i swap a 2003 Jeep liberty 3.7 engine into a 2006 Jeep Grand cherokee? I got a motor issue in the grand Cherokee and i found a 03 jeep liberty motor on a humble. So im curious to know is it possible that this engine can work in my 06 grand Cherokee?
@MrV2u3 жыл бұрын
In theory yes you can. I don’t know off hand if the engine had any updates over the 3 year difference. Upgrades, horsepower, torque, or sensors. You know they always do little things to make the engine better over the years brother. When I got mine I went to advance auto and ordered a engine from a builder. If you go that route make sure you don’t use a company called Spartan motors. The engine had issues within 20k. If you try to swap it out I’m around for advice brother. It’s not a bad job, just take your time and take pictures and videos of all the steps for your reference.

It comes out and you have to lower the tranny all the way as low as possible to get access to the top bolts on the converter. You’ll need a really long extension and swivel on your socket. The oxygen sensors I cut cause it was so tight to get my hand in there. I just put new ones.

@MrV2u Жыл бұрын
Depending on your mechanical background it’s not a bad job. The only hard thing was the top bell housing bolts. You’ll need a couple long extensions to get those bolts. Just take your time and you’ll be ok. Make sure you take pictures of everything for reference. I’ve been a mechanic for over 25 years so it wasn’t my first time.

@@MrV2u i’m not a mechanic but I have been fixing my own cars for the last 20 years. Never done an engine swap myself though. I’m gonna replace the pcv valve and do a compression test to see where the engine stands. From what I have read 1 qt every 800 miles doesn’t seem so bad for an original engine with 270k miles and no repairs never. Nothing wrong with the engine besides the oil consumption.
@MrV2u Жыл бұрын
@@engrxtn how’s the body? If it’s in good shape then you can either keep adding oil as needed, or swap it out! It really isn’t a bad job at all brother. Beside the top bell housing bolts, the other thing is the top oxygen sensors are a pain. I just cut them and added new ones later on. Putting the motor back in is a bear as well, I highly suggest having someone to work the hoist and fight it with you. That’s why I said take your time and have a lot of patience. Let me know what you decide on brother with the compression test completed.

Kg West nah the headers would give you between 10-25 more horsepower. The fast man throttle body gives you a better off the line power that you can feel. You do get better fuel economy and the sound is a beautiful thing lol. I’d say get a rebuild for the warranty. Make sure you get it from a reputable rebuilder. The one I got from advance auto, starting having valve knock with approx 30k on it. I got so fed up with the whole thing and had to walk away. Eventually I’m going to buy a wrangler. I wish you luck on your journey. Just have patience and take your time. You'll do fine. Let me know if you have any questions. The upper intake box is a nightmare to get out you will need a extra hand. It hits the upper firewall and the shape of it makes it rough. The two upper bell housing bolts are a pain as well. You need to lower the back of the tranny a lot to get a looooong extension with a swivel in there. The upper oxygen sensors suck as well lol. A lot of choice words were flying at these times. My recommendation is to just replace the o2 sensors. I wouldn't mess with cleaning them. Yeah I shed a tear making that video brother. All that time money spent on her and someone else is probably driving her now lol. Oh well can't wait to get my Wrangler at a later date.
