Ford had a really good package in the Fiesta and Focus. It's really sad that Ford botched it with the transmission issues.

I agree. Everything else about the car was good, I really liked it. Except for the crappy transmission. Ford really screwed up with that.

bought the manual 65k and going strong bought an engine ebay $180 w/7k even though it doesnt need it. Tires cost me more. Planning on 1/4 million Looks like plenty of cheap parts available. Thanks

Same issue with the 2014 model (Titanium). It seems they didn't care about solving the problem. I'm talking about the problem arising at 10000 km. We took the car to the dealer 3 times in 4 months an the problem is still there. Last Ford car we buy, never ever again!

Here in thailand there is a group of more than 400 persons with thesame transmission problem, they all are asking ford to buy back the cars so i think u all over there should do thesame becoz this problem is never solved

I like my 4 speed automatic Grand Marquis... My mom though has a Ford Focus and oh boy it jutters like mad going from 1st to 2nd gear.

I have a 2013 Focus DCT & it's junk. Always shuddering & sputtering around town & yes I've done all the flash updates, new TCM, new Clutch etc. all under warranty & it's makes no difference whatsoever.

I had the manual. It had some leaks. The invoice came back with transmission reseal and overhaul! Also output shaft leaks. Rest of the car was crap too. Traded it on an Accord three years ago. Accord has had zero problems. Automatic transmissions are supposed to be smooth and quiet.

So if it’s making that rattle noise does it mean the clutch or tranny is on the way out? There’s slippage etc but I don’t mind the crap driving experience I just don’t want car to die on a bridge or something dangerous. Is that sound a death toll to the tranny or might it continue working for years to come?

Owners of Ford Fiesta and Focus models with the company's problematic PowerShift automatic transmission will be eligible for vehicle buybacks and for cash compensation, according to a new settlement. As reported by the Detroit Free Press, depending on the number of service visits and repair attempts the vehicle has required, owners may be able to sell their cars back to Ford for up to $22,000. They may also be able to receive cash compensation of up to $250 for their trouble. In most states, owners will need to have had three or or a maximum of four transmission repair attempts.

My ford is quite horrible to drive in a slow traffic. Once we pressed accelerator pedal, we shouldn't stop until it changed gear, or it will jerk forward or hang the rpm. Its a big problem if there is another car in front, it keep pushing me to keep pressing the pedal until it changed gear, then apply deep brake to stop.

@@giuliaderosa8999 that was very old comment. I no longer have it for long time. Its was a problem with the dct transmission. There are many reports on it if you search online. Not sure if they still use it in newer vehicle though

This transmission is unique actually. It's most likely a problem with the hill assist. That's all i fixed and everything was fine.

It's a manual transmission with an automatic clutch. It uses a part to make seem like an automatic transmission. Really weird what they did. Anyway doesn't matter to me now because I have a Chevy now 😂

I had a Ford Fieasta 2013 and the transmission gave me a lot of problems and i had to trade it and get another car. I bought it from Cannon ford in Cleveland Mississippi. i was still paying on this car, but sometimes it would drive ok, but it kept giving me problems, but Cannon dealership never offered me a trade for another car or anything, so i had to go another dealership to buy another car , now i got to start all over again with a car payment. Will never do business again with Cannon Ford in Cleveland Mississippi.

Well im Ford addict have already 3 Fords and my beauty is my 1.0 Focus by the way my first automatic and the best driving exsperience never have a issue and i love that transmission.And the sevice i get by my dealership is world class they do their best to keep their customers happy.

I use one as a work car. Runs perfectly fine. Chatters just like a computer operating a clutch would. The noise doesn't affect me, because im driving- and if a small expected noise in the transmission bothers me than i shouldnt be driving on the rough and never perfect roads anyway. 160k miles and i brought it in for one recall and its continued to run great ever since. Never serviced or changed anything else.

I solved the problem by trading the car in. There was nothing Ford did to resolve the issue, even after replacing the clutch pack twice

I drive a manual. No issues ever. Clutch is ~ 50k miles in and still bites like a rabid dog.

i know this post is a year old but i also have a fiesta manual 2011 and i get some shake right around 30mph and 65 mph and always when under 2rpms wondering if you have experienced any of that i also have original clutch and car now has 100,553 miles on it ?

@Samuel Sweetmann Yeah Manual for life, mine is 2012 Fiesta got it nearly a year after I got my driving license... totally worth the wait otherwise it's either lame torque converter automatic or these manual wannabe Powershift DCT with issues. Funny how rare manual cars nowadays.

no, I haven't really gotten anything figured out. a few weeks after the last video I posted, the car actually started driving pretty good. and for a while, I would say it was driving like a normal car with no issues. then about 2 month later it started exhibiting issues again. it's really all over the place. some days it drives fine, and other days it drives terrible. I really don't get it. I am planning to take it in again soon for the door latch recall and I'm going to have them check the trans again. mine is also making a grinding noise while just cruising along above 40 miles an hour. there is a TSB out on that issue as well.

actually, one thing I've noticed is that the issue isn't as bad when I have the defroster or A/C on. the extra load the compressor puts on the engine seems to smooth things out a little bit. I'm still experimenting a little bit.

Both of you need to get a lemon law lawyer I did for mine and they had to buy the car back and gave me the money back I spent on the car.

Steven Hollowell They tried to fix mine seven times and I was done after that, Yelp a great lemon law attorney in your state, they bill Ford separately so you keep 100% of your settlement.

Mine having same issue Ford said it was a module issue and they said they fixed it. Not!!! Same problem car has 39,000 miles has been doing it since day one. Car is junk I want my money back.

i have a 2016 fiesta and the auto transmission is shit. try driving at a slow speed for a period of time and the transmission can't handle it at all. it just keeps shaking.

i exaggerated in that comment. the transmission in mine isn't THAT bad. it just behaves like a manual. if that's what you want, it's a great transmission, hands down. however, when driving under 30 it will struggle to know whether or not to be in 2nd or 3rd gear. that's really the only problem with it tbh. i got use to it but after driving a traditional automatic you will wish that you had that (unless you like it driving like a manual)

and what i mean by "driving like a manual" is that you will feel the gear shifts sometimes, meaning it will jerk, and you will roll back on a hill, unless you come to a complete stop before accelerating again. if you come to a complete stop, it will activate the hill start assist system, meaning the brakes will continue to be applied for 2-3 seconds, giving you enough time to switch between the brake and gas without rolling backwards. however, if you brake to like 2 mph while on a hill and then switch to the gas pedal, you will roll backwards slightly, which would not happen in a traditional automatic. as i said, it is an acceptable transmission, but it's not something i would buy again.

I never had these issues with my 2011 fiesta. In fact it is the best automatic transmission I have ever seen. Saves fuel even more than manual transmission. It changes gears incredibly fast like in miliseconds. I just love this car.

If you're referring to the ST model, then no it doesn't because it is only available with a manual transmission. Only Fiesta models with the automatic trans suffer from this.

There is a thing called preventive maintenance. If you take care of its fluids and other things that are scheduled for replacements and always inspect your car daily and not just ride and drive, your car will last more than what it should be. Treat your car the way it should be, and he will stay with you for a very long time.

I have a 2016 Fiesta and I've never had an issue with mine. Also how is your car accelerating so slow at 3k rpm? Mine just needs 2-2500 to keep up with traffic. And yikes your transmission is really noisy, I only hear the shift linkages moving every once in awhile.

So far with 65,000 miles on my 2016 nothing has gone wrong. Then again I am paranoid about service and have never been late on even an oil change. I drive a lot.

GarlGouyle Have you had to go to the dealership to get the transmission reprogrammed, or anything changed? Also, has the shift grinding, or stuttering, changed since you got it, or is it still very light? I know you said you have had zero issues, so I just want to be thorough. I have a 2013 Fiesta SE hatchback. I have had it in five times. They replaced seals, the clutch twice, some electronics. It runs ok for 2 or 3k and then its messed up. I have only 33,000 on my car, If am on the freeway and try to change lanes step on the gas and nothing, no acceleration. If I just try to accelerate it winds way out to over 4000 rpm's before it shifts. Sitting at a light I can hear a rattle like bolts in a can from under the car. Stop and go driving is a nightmare, shuddering, noise and no smooth shifting at all. Class action lawsuit notification just came in the mail.

Arin Arjani It runs and drives the same as the day I got it. I only have maintenance done at the dealership. I had the front shocks replaced at 30K under warranty but other than that it's been flawless.

Anyone having these issues reset the Trouble codes for Malfunctioning transmission on OBD scanner/Tool to reset all the codes Spray wD40 on the neutral shift/ Shift Gears get back into vehicle turn key on but don't crank Press brakes & gas pedal hold till engine service Light & Wrench indicator Light go away just keep on pedal the battery Light will remain on try this if this doesn't work switching you TCM sensor revervse & forward Gear could change the Shift but reset the transmission sensor warning till it's off and you don't hear the 3 Sound ford sound transmission. Malfunction for 3 months till I reset now it's shifting 100% & watch how you Park uphill with e Brakes n flat streets keep them brakes on only because ppl hit cars parking alot of small things can trigger A Ford Emissions sensor off

This is a very well known issue with the Powershift transmissions in Ford cars. A class action lawsuit has been settled in Australia, and in the USA, and another one in Canada is pending. Before accusing someone of wanting attention and free stuff, you should actually look into it.

Guys it's an automated manual transmission, you need to gently accelerate, more like an manual transmission car. Just imagine if u give hard acceleration while at 1st gear in a manual car?!?! The same happens with DCT. Don't blame ford.

@@EmmanCollective gears won't shifts based only on RPM, there're multiple factors. Vehicle load, inclination, even wrong tyre pressure affects the shift quality.

Most of them are bad , but my 2002 Ford focus zx5 has never left me stranded , just wanted a practice car . I'm happy with it . But I'll never get a newer Ford.
