Unpopular opinion: the problem with the mangler is in the maps design, all maps promote gameplay that centers on "corner combat" / "multiple corridors combat" rather than controlling power position like it was in classic Halo

I think the mangler nerf should’ve been a Tier 3 weapon or just increase the spawn timer, they could’ve lowered the ammo. So many things they could’ve done. I get it punishes the aggressor but the skill in halo is being able to outsmart your opponent. I mean it’s not like the shotgun or sword can beat the mangler. I get the frustration in onyx gameplay-at least for me. I just wish they nerfed it in a different way.

I thought bladed weapons were supposed to do more damage since they literally have a freaking large blade sticking out. Makes no sense for 343 to come out with this then nerf it cuz other kids can’t get good.

They didn’t need to nerf damage… literally all they needed to do was slower the melee animation down that’s it. The issues with the mangled was the melee would come out too quickly. 343 really just makes terrible decisions tbh.

The issue to me is that by nerfing the mangler, you're just making another weapon that is average at best. The side arms in this game just aren't good, and especially in comparison to the BR. The power weapons are pretty garbage as well with the snap zoom for the sniper, excessive user damage on the rocket launcher and the insanely slow/inconsistent gravity hammer. I miss powerful short range weapons, like the OG shotgun, since this sword is soo inconsistent with the phasing thru enemies issue.

I used to love the sniper but infinite s7 imo needs help. I see so many players past it up. It's just not feared as much anymore because of it unreliability.

New meta; shoot them once with the mangler then quickly switch to your BR and melee.

I think the melee nerf is to make it so more people choose shooting/gun skill then melee/going for trade. To change the flow of the game.

I can think of 3 weapons I would have modified the strength of before the Mangle IMO. This one was hot topic because pros complained.

I think they went about it the wrong way. I’m concerned about the melee nerf across the board. I think the power was ok with the mangler I would’ve rather seen them change the placement and spawn timer on it. Also maybe limiting the ammo similar to snipe, 8 total shots 4 in the mag and 4 in reserve. But now I think plasma pistol is gonna be the new meta. It’s power was already strong but now I think it’ll be unrivaled as a secondary

I agree with a lot of the comments saying treat as a higher tier weapon. It should be treated like a heatwave or bulldog where theirs only 1 on the map at a time. I've been in games where 3-4 people are running with it at the same time, just feels broken when that happens (streets and aquarius are probably the most balanced feeling maps right now, as far as the sandbox) But, I just don't see this update fixing it. Perhaps make it like the commando so theirs more of a skill gap idk (commando can be hard to use but just shreds). Feels like there were a lot of options to address the mangler and they went with the wrong option (or easiest)

the mangler just seems to be one of those guns that isn't needed at all in the game. I doubt it will be in future Halo games. Nerfing the ammo and spawn times might have been a better idea. Nerfing all melee seems fine to me, melee does a ton of damage in this game compared to classic Halo games. Power weapons are much worse in this game, idk how I feel about that. The sword/sniper/rocket have taken a massive nerf compared to the Halo 2/3 days. I see so many people not even grabbing power weapons in both social and ranked games unless it's rockets/bulldog. I wouldn't mind a 10% reduction in grenade blast radius/damage as well

While nerfing the mangler is disappointing I’m glad they will be buffing the ravager. Players might finally starting picking it up now and it would be a fun weapon to use if buffed

It didn't need a nerf. It just needed to be upgraded to a tier 2 or power weapon. Gameplay was enough to show how OP it was/is. It also would have been better just to nerf the overall damage of it instead of melee across everything.

Both myself and the game needs to be given more opportunity to use the sniper. A lot of people hate on it because it’s not like the snipers in older games. If they could just have the opportunity to use it more it would ease the tension on that particular weapon. I just feel a lot of people hate on it because they aren’t good with it

The sniper rifle easily fits your description in the video. It's a great weapon, but it's God here in the right hands

Plasma pistol/disruptor are too inconsistent for me, have clips where shots don’t register and I don’t have this problem with the mangler.

I think the global 10% melee nerf will make it so despite the manglers nerf it will out melee other guns as they have also been reduced damage for the melee. Just making sure it can do the insta kill but still better than other weapons close up

Just another reason for me to stay on MCC, I get so much more enjoyment out of classic halo 3 it’s kinda sad compared to infinite

The mangler was like my favorite weapon. Good to know the only changes they're prioritizing are ones that make the game LESS fun.

I personally really hate any time that you end up trading kills with melee and both you and your enemy drop. I'm pretty confident that a lower melee damage will actually make that less common because there's less of a window of health where both players are able to drop each other with a melee. As a result I'm in favor of the melee nerf. (Personally I really miss classic reach melee/shields where if there was any shields left, they would take the whole brunt of a melee)

And with that, the last counter to the sword is dead. Who tf thought this was a good idea?

i like the mangler how it is. but i am no pro and i do get why the change is needed. a meelee nerf in general is good for the game i think. it feels just way too strong and in some cases you just go for constant melees and get the kill faster than using the weapons which kinda takes the skill away especially with the launching towards the oponent so you can not even come out on too with movement. looking forward to your next m&kb vid cheers

Nerfing the mangler is like taking the queen out of chess cuz it's to strong. ND if u have the mangler it gives you the ability to push because you know while moving up if u turn a corner ND have an enemy defending u can easily take them out allowing u to push. The problem are that pros are scared crybaby who ONLY want to shoot ppl in the back instead of using actual mechanics ND skill. The whole reason why objective matches were made in replace of death match because death match for pros is boring bc they all just sit ND hide which is why the br takes all the fun from the game br needs to go

Why didn't they just removed it from pro play? If they can remove Behemoth map from pro play, then they can do the same for Mangler

i think if anything, they should of banned the mangler on ranked. i personally had no issues with the mangler. however i feel they should balance the melee though. not in damage, but in term of who wins the battle. i hate that sometimes i have more shield than my opponent, but we trade, but i shoot the opponent more, and somehow i die, and he's literally one hp from dying. i would rather they fixed that issue than the mangler.

It's interesting to see the disparity in subscriber count between your channels. It is also pretty telling how your other channels have oodles of great, legit content on games whereas Halo is more "damn, this game is rough" atm anyway lol

I absolutely hate how far you teleport for the melee, it’s stupid. I also hate these game devs that just keep nerfing everything into the ground ( cough Destiny cough). What they need to do it buff other thing up into viability. What about the shotgun or sword??? Why can’t it be strong? How about they buff the shotgun to actually be able to one shot someone like it used to. I freaking hate 343, they suck ass. I really just want Microsoft to pull this IP from 343 and give it to a new studio. They also need to move the game to Unreal 5.

Really disappointed they are nerfing the mangler. The mangler is equally good for both teams playing, and while it’s a good weapon there are a handful of other weapons that are better or as good. Overall, I think the majority of the halo infinite community didn’t want the mangler nerfed, it was mainly pros complaining about it

Adjust the mangler, fine, whatever. Don't do a global adjustment! It's minor to all others, yes, but it will take more time adjusting to the mangler, BR, pistol, AR, Commando etc changes. I don't like it. It's a huge fundamental change to the game as a whole. A more proper adjustment would have been to decrease the ammo and increase the spawn timer.

This is probably the worst way to balance the mangler. this going to change damage count for a lot of shit and make the game feel way to bland. They could literally change the melee damage for just the mangler.

The 10% melee nerf is probably because of the 22 weapons available 7 of them are one shot one melee kill weapons and if they just nerfed the mangler than the people who prefer close engagements will just pick up one of the other six weapons that only require one shot one melee to kill and nothing will have changed and the "pros" would still complain. I didnt feel like the mangler needed the nerf anyway so this melee nerf seems moronic in my opinion especially when they are nerfing everything except the brs melee. I disagree with your statment that the sandbox has to be balanced from the top down. Ideally the sandbox should be balanced across all skill ranges but thats very difficult to achieve apparently. If you balance weapons based on the skill of the top 10-15% of players than the weapons that require skill to use will go untouched by the lower ranked players which make up the majority of the games playerbase. If weapons cant be balanced across all skill ranges than they should balanced toward the median skill level of the playerbase not the top. If all else fails have two seperate weapon metas, one for social the other for ranked or "professional" players.

ESports balancing = BR god tier when it was already god tier. The BR two shot beatdown remains the same, but every other weapon has weaker melee is the WORST possible decision they could ever have made to attract a broader audience. AR beatdowns will be less effective for casuals, and the Mangler will no longer be an effective deterent for grappleshot sword kills. Come to think of it, EVERY weapon except for the Battle Rifle and Energy Sword is now LESS useful for casuals by 10%, brilliant e-sports logic. Now the BR and sword are ultra dominant with no competition at all, thats NOT A BALANCED SANDBOX!!! Ravager gets a needed buff, but the Commando, Sidekick, Bulldog, Plasma Pistol, Pulse Carbine, Disruptor and vehicles are ALL STILL weak and in need of BUFFS!!! This is a terrible move. Other weapons should BUFF to the Manglers level, NOT the other way around. If the goal is to create more sandbox variety and less reliance on one specific combo this move is utterly inept, because the BR and Sword now have zero flaws or anything to stop people from abusing them. E-Sports is TERRIBLE for good gameplay design. Making it easier for so-called pro players who if they are the best, will dominate no matter what combination anyway, but ALL the casuals get hurt in the process and your broader audience LEAVES HALO INFINITE!!! Better update the shop again guys, we HAVE TO SELL BLUE ON ANOTHER ARMOR CORE PRIORITY ONE!!!! Cross Core Customization who cares about that nonsense? Forge who needs it? Co-Op who needs it? I like the mangler currently, but I also wish melee was a bit less powerful than it is now. This feels like a good change overall imo.

There was no need to nerf the Mangler. It was fine the way it was. Now it loses what made it special and unique.

The pros cheat . Changing anything for less than 1% of the player base is a disservice to the other 99%. E-sports ruined COD and I’m sure it’ll ruin Halo as well.

Honest question, why are they making changes for a small subset of the community the "pros"? Honestly, the games problem is not the pro scene, its the fact that the game IS NOT FUN to the general halo player or would be halo player. The mangler was a fun weapon, another element of fun thrown away. The pro scene isn't going to save halo... the majority of player feedback will... do that 343.

No nerfs were needed. What we need is buffs to certain weapons. This is juat pros crying because theres a particular weapon that beats the br that they jus cannot have. Catering to the pros is a mistake and will drive the larger audience away. Who none of which wanted this nerf. Pros are less than 1% of the population and only listening to them will ruin the game in no time at all. Alot of Halos physics have already been hugely stripped back because of them too

A lot to talk about? I haven't touched this game since release and even I know they haven't done shit in the 4-5 months since then.

This game is disappointing after disappointing like changing weapons is going to make people very mad add new weapons to try to balance it out or make that gun a power up weapon where it has a waypoint instead of having a normal spawn point. Once Forge comes out everything will get back to normal

I know Halo isn’t in the best spot currently, but it’s still the best shooter out on Xbox in my opinion. Warzone is still a buggy mess, and vanguard ranked was a fun change for a few weeks but there’s less gameplay variety in that ranked mode than halos! Only 4 maps and 3 modes on rotation, and 2-3 meta builds. Already crawling back to Halo and having an absolute blast.

I’m glad they’re nerfing melee. It always felt silly that you could kill chief by punching him twice. And playing for melee feels bad anyway. Compare it to a game like Overwatch where a melee kill is super rare and only for when the enemy is VERY low. That’s how it should be.

Saying that a powerful melee weapon causes non aggressive or ranges game play is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Do 2 different custom matches, one with only BR and one with BR plus mangler and let's count the number of close range engagements. Obviously the person WITH the melee weapon will be pushing hard for close range and it's going to happen a lot of the time. They just want to stand across the level and BR each other all fucking day. Boring.

This game keeps getting less and less attractive to play. Between the whack csr system and the continued rank spoofing, now the unbalanced weapons and melee, I can safely say after 15 years of playing halo competitively I’m putting this game down and moving on.

100% disagree. I disagree with the Mangler nerf and I disagree with the reasons given for it happening. The mangler is a one-shot-melee-kill... ok, GOOD. If you have a problem with that then BOO HOO on YOU. Give me a break. Is the actual reason really because the "Pro players" say it stops the from being aggressive, that's a poor excuse. There are other weapons that are one-shot-melee kills as well!! The plasma pistol, the pulse carbine, the shotgun just to name a few. Are they gonna have to nerf all these guns too!?!?!?!? All because a pro player is scared to chase an enemy around a corner??? Perhaps these "Pro Players" should Get GOOD!! Such a lame change for such a lame reason.

The BR is not a 2 shot beat down! Nothing in this game is as they say it is. I melee people an go right thru them or the melee doesn’t register or occur! This game is broke! An you talk about first shot on someone…ha! You put 4 BR bursts into someone with the last being the head and you still get killed! It’s broke…the game is broke! Oh, and shooters advantage is a joke.
