It's hard to think you have power when you're all alone. Power over yourself I guess. As a species we are very social. Without a social cirlce or our own small tribes/groups, we are alone and struggle to survive for multiple reasons. I'm a very calm, patient and understanding person but can't seem to keep a circle of friends, the handful I make for a while always end up ghosting me and don't give me a reason. I can't fix a problem I am unaware of.
@edi9892
@edi9892 Жыл бұрын
Well, you can have power on your own, by knowing yourself (who you are, what you can and can't). Too many people just follow others rather than taking responsibility for their actions and then complain about poor results... Regarding your problem: it's a tough one. I do know that feeling. It can be one of the following: 1) you don't invest enough into their needs and they look for getting their needs elsewhere 2) people change and need to move on. In that case, it's for the best of both of you. 3) you got some bad habits you're not aware of, or creep them out. The former can be best fixed by finding honest people who are not afraid of speaking out about what they think. The latter is a bit more difficult. People can be creepy because we don't know them better, or (perhaps in your case) that your relationship becomes more intense and they notice things about you that they either don't like, or can't match with the image they have of you (like being a happy go lucky guy, but they slowly realize that it's more of a facade). To fix this you have two options: have superficial buddies, or find people with whom you can be who you really are (that's the difficult option)
@lollydolly4541
@lollydolly4541 Жыл бұрын
@shadowsax You described your situation so perfectly I feel I could have written it myself. Making new friends can be very difficult and a lot depends on your environment. It may have nothing to do with you! I don't know your age, but if for instance a woman is married, has children, and works, she has very little room in her life for a new friend EVEN if you could be the best friend she ever had. Today many people are so very self involved that the relationship of a true friendship is hard to find. All you can do is keep being you, doing the things that interest you, being friendly but also safe and don't settle. Some friends are not worth having. All situations are not ideal for making friends as I have unfortunately found out. I moved from a city to a small town in the south where I have no family or friends. I am unable to work. I have no husband or children. I am very much alone and many of the normal avenues I would take to meet people are unavailable to me. I'm very social and have long fun conversations with neighbors and people I meet when I'm out. It would be nice to know how to take those kinds of situations to the next step. Does that make sense? Your heart and your time are precious and valuable. Guard them and don't give them away freely. Don't be discouraged, it really may have nothing to do with you. Keep being your best you and doing what you love and friends may find you. Best wishes my friend.

There is a difference between power and having the respect of others. Knowledge is power but too much knowledge can get you killed. To gain respect keep your friends close and your enemies closer. However, it is often difficult to tell the difference between those you may THINK are your friends and those who pretend to be for personal and/or financial gain at your expense. I discovered the difference at a point in my life when I hit rock bottom and rock bottom has a basement. Once you observe others they become pretty predictable. People will always test your boundaries. Make your boundaries clear and defend them at all costs. Most people lie. Never lie unless you have to. "Nuff said!

One of life's great paradoxes: In order to command respect, you must first have respect for yourself regardless of your circumstances or how others treat you - true self-respect. When you have true self-respect, you understand that how others behave says everything about them and nothing about you.

Shoutout to the editor behind the subtitles. How the sentences were chunked into parts with transparency was just the right tempo. The highlights were fine too for filtering the main words. I mean, I do all of the positives you mentioned, and yea I do get my way some times, but most times than not, people don't go with you, because they don't have to, and you're just not that important in the grand scheme of their relations. Even when we do all of this, we still don't have power. As Cersei said: Power is power. And as Varys said: Power resides where men believe it resides.

I wouldn't consider incentivizing as force; it is sort of the opposite of force. In true force, someone gets what they want at the expense of the other without the other having a choice. In incentivizing, both parties have choice and both parties are supposed to benefit from the interaction.

If you did it from a place of wanting her to show you love, you weren't being truly vulnerable. If that's the case, you probably don't believe you're worthy of love, and therefore felt the need to manipulate her into showing you love by being vulnerable. Like Charlie says in the video, if you express your feelings not to get a certain response from the person you're expressing to, people who aren't right for you will know to leave, but you'll get so many people who do adore your authentic self.

Power, when gotten by way of threats, tends to be highly unstable. It slips away from your hands soon as you're no longer in a position to threaten/bully others. Manipulation also doesn't work for long since people never appreciate being lied to. It may seem clever right away but it ain't long lasting. Being gregarious, looking after the needs of your own people, and wishing sincerely the best for them, is far more likely to garner power and respect.
