Great vid, thank you! Just a note, the intercooler is not the same as the radiator. The coolant comes out of the radiator.

I use a 1/2' drive ratchet on the bottom with a ratchet strap to the frame to hold the belt tensioner while I install the pump.
@xraykadiddlehopper8067 Жыл бұрын
Much easier if you fill coolant in block directly from the thermostat opening while you have it off but after replacing w pump. I put almost two gallons directly into the block and only filled a little more into the radiator. No waiting to warm engine to top off.

You don't use RTV sealant for these thermostats
@jonathanrice-exec112 жыл бұрын
What do you run for a seal? Plan on doing mine soon

If u look behind the pulley on the bottom of the water pump theres a hole called the weep hole it starts to leak letting you know that the bearing its going it time to change it the cheaper pump burn out faster then OEM parts

Over 70 mph and less than 2k rpm that must be nice

Javier Hernandez that's what I was shocked at.. what gears??

It has got 3.73, but also helping it is that the speedo is calibrated for the tire size.

Thanks for the illustration. I have a ‘06 2500 5.9, 4x4, 3.73, 216,000 miles. I have to change out my water pump & thermostat. I’ve watched 2-3 different ways other guys have used to swap out their water pumps. All get the job done. I’m hoping the one I choose is faster & easier. I keep my speedo tuned with an Edge. I get 73 mph & under 2000 RPM & 25-26 mpg.

Haha! The rear speed sensor was bad and when they go bad the truck displays the brake light and abs light.

My parking brake thinks it's on all the time because the pedal sags a little.

Instead of replacing the whole belt tensioner assembly you can just replace the pulley (the only part that wears out) with an ACDelco #38023/GM#88926780 pulley. Much cheaper!

Questions, the exhaust sounds great - what is it? cost? , also my dodge has a squeek at idle I was thinking it may be the ac compressor / clutch . but I may just change the tensioner pulley , belt , and while there change the water pump and thermostat.. I can get just a compressor clutch if needed I guess....
@OutpostCTD5 жыл бұрын
Ronbo Nick The exhaust is a 4" mbrp straight pipe with a 5 inch tip. I think it can't hurt to do the belt and tensioner and see what happens. The water pump is a good idea to replace too because they rarely last 100k miles in my experience.
@ronbonick42655 жыл бұрын
Thanks all my stuff has 168k right now .. If I change the exhaust will it effect anything else or if I change it will I have to modify the fuel etc , or is it like a car and just let it breath?? Yours sounds perfect..
@OutpostCTD5 жыл бұрын
You won't have to change anything unless it is a 2007.5 or newer truck (emissions related). You might pick up a little bit of power as a bonus.

Cummins squeak is what it’s called. Also most will get a distinct squeak upon shutdown. New belt tensioner and belt fix this. I just did all this minus the thermostat. No chirps, no squeaks anymore and mine had a hell of a squeak before let me tell you! Cheers guys!

TAKE MY ADVICE!!!!!!!! Only use Mopar water pump. Yes it's more expensive. And there's a reason. Use that cheap shit on other parts of your truck. But, not the cooling system. Take my advice or suffer the consequences.
