Put the top case upside down. Use wooden blocks to raise it off the table so the rods can hang free. Place the crank into top case. Spread the sealant onto the bottom case. No studs to work around this way. Torque the bolts in stages 12 - 16 then 20 ft/ lbs twice

Awesome video. Ive used used pistons several times on polaris sleds and they are fine. In fact one time i put a std 440 fuji piston used in 1 side of my 96 xcr 440 sp. They were even a few grams difference but i didnt give a crap and put em in anyway and ran it another several hundred miles before i sold it

Make the switch to ultra gray and never look back! Ultra gray = yamabond..black rtv doesn't do great with gasoline!

Great vid, I just rebuilt the top end of my xc700 also. The base gaskets in my kit were paper and I've had coolant being ingested in to the mag cylinder now. I notice your gaskets are metal and wonder what you think of the paper ones. I did use reman jugs but I doubt they are the problem but never say never.

Jesse Grimm lol @ the waiting for it to fall. And no I did not, the only time I will check the ring gap is with new rings.

I am planning on rebuilding my 2013 rmk 800. I have never done a rebuild before. Will it be similar to this engine or should I find a different video? There isn’t very many for my sled on you tube. Also if anyone has any tips or tricks I would be happy to know more before I start. Thanks!

Black rtv isn’t gas resistant
@AKproXR4 жыл бұрын
Mark Workman this is true, however I have used it more times then I can count and have never had it leak.
@markworkman92244 жыл бұрын
AKproXR exactly, I use it on alot of stuff too, and haven’t had leaks. I just prefer yamabond for case halfs.
@AKproXR4 жыл бұрын
Mark Workman absolutely. Yamabond is a proven, top quality sealant for cases. I won’t argue on that!
@timryerson67333 жыл бұрын
honda bond ,yamabond is the same as 3bond 1184 which is the best case sealant in the world oil and gas have no effect on it at all unlike rtv which swells up squishes out and blocks passages and oil galleries
@AKproXR3 жыл бұрын
No oil passages on the mating surfaces, and if you manage to get it anywhere near an oil Hole anywhere on the engine you are using way to much. I usually use yamabond as there’s a Yamaha dealer close to me, but I like trying different things. This specific engine is still running flawless to this day.

Hey there I got a question about my 89 Indy 500 it’s about my speedometer it won’t tell my speed I’ve tried all the things that I know to check like the little drive under the secondary clutch if that little key is broken and also the cable to see if it’s broken. I don’t know much about wires but the wiring harnesses looks to be fine, sorry if you don’t know what I mean not the best at typing things I’m talking about thanks
@AKproXR4 жыл бұрын
ItsRebirth the speedo itself is strictly driven off the drive shaft. If the key is good, cable is good... I’d suspect a faulty speedometer.
@itsrebirth3124 жыл бұрын
AKproXR ok, thanks appreciate it
