I’m glad I’m not the only one confused by that story! I heard she planned to run off with someone and I thought, “Wait, why’d she shoot herself then?!” Was she suddenly consumed with guilt and despair over what she’d done? Had she planned to just wound herself so she could try to claim someone else had shot them?

The boyfriend is more than likely a key piece to the puzzle. How old was he, was she forbidden to see him? Because she killed herself and no trial, we may never know, but to want to discuss it with another girl across the state and then flee to Georgia from Texas is specific.

So many deaths because people don't respect water the way they should. People overestimate their swimming abilities and drown. People play in rough water at the beach and either get dragged out or have their heads bashed on rocks and drown. They're careless around fast moving water like a river, which can easily sweep you underwater or smash you against a rock. It only takes 6 inches of moving water to knock a grown adult down.

I was hit by a car when I was 6 years old and escaped death, I’ve never been a fan of driving, but being old enough I was pressured into getting my permit to drive, and on my first try I mistook gas with brakes and drove into our neighbors garden which lead me not wanting to drive at all. I didn’t get my drivers license until I was about 25 years old, but I could’ve gotten it way before. And I still avoid driving any chance I get. The submerged bedroom drowning seems odd at first as it's only about 2m deep. But I guess the fact that the rest of the structure overhangs means that you can easily knock yourself out as you attempt to surface. Dangerous and sad....

The video says the room was 32 feet, almost 10 meters, below the surface. Not an extreme depth for free diving, but if someone doesn't know their limits, isn't diving with a buddy, and spends extra time at-depth to show 2 notes and a ring, it's not surprising that he passed out before he could surface.

Actually the greatest pressure differential is at this exact level. The pressure increases 2x in the first 6m but less so the deeper you go. It’s already incredibly hard to build a waterproof compartment at that level - their bedroom was really a luxury submarine compartment! Snorkeling is more dangerous than deeper diving because most don’t realize and consider the dangers at more shallow depths. It’s recreational so most people don’t look into the dangers like they should. Deeper divers are usually better trained and consider the danger at ALL depths.

A few years ago I was walking on the white cliffs of Dover, Kent, UK, when I passed a group of foreign students taking photos and selfies right near the edge of the cliff. My mum, a native of Dover, had always told me NEVER to walk near the edge of a chalk cliff because they can be unstable. I wanted to warn the students but thought they'd think I was a fussy, interfering old woman, if they could actually understand me. I went to visit a nearby underground tunnel, and when I emerged there was an air sea rescue helicopter and several ambulance and police cars arriving. A person was retrieved from halfway down the cliff. Fortunately they survived, but I did wonder whether I should have tried to warn them not to go near the edge. Selfies really can be dangerous.

I could never comment on the driver who struck him, but I know that younger drivers can be easily distracted and/or careless of their speed, because I was once a younger driver myself. My cousin killed herself by jumping from a fourth floor balcony at her work, in front of her co-workers. I never stopped thinking about why only the fourth floor, it's definitely high enough to kill, but not high enough to guarantee death. When I was about 10 years old when I was in a car that experienced a flash flood in Kileen, Texas. It honestly happened so fast that there was'nt time to prepare or even consider what to do next. The road was there one minute & on a blink of an eye we were in a fast moving river. Thankfully my older sister, my nephew & myself all survived without any injury. However, we all were traumatized by the situation & to this day ( Im now almost 60) just hearing stories of those caught in a similar situation (some not making it out alive while others being as fortunate as we were who survived) give me chills & surreal flashbacks as though it happened yesterday. It taught me very early on that there are no guarantees we will get to see tomorrow. Do not wait to tell the ones closest to your heart how much you love & appreciate them while youre still here to do it. ❤

I understand the thought that I would have jumped in or looked too but there’s zero reason to believe doing that would have made any difference whatsoever. You see what you want and have zero basis for it other than your bias and assumptions about a person and her thoughts, feelings and situations only those who had first hand knowledge of it and her could dare try. That’s a whole lot of unnecessary projection and negativity, wonder why you want to find someone to blame. Maybe you should ask yourself that, as I don’t want or need it explained or defended (it’s rhetorical & only something I find when other people have that same mentality in judging other people’s situations as if they have insight or a place to decide what another person’s intentions and motivations are with self-righteous indignation).

It was so sad and tragic that the man died after his underwater proposal. Although touching and loving, diving down 32 feet to the glassed in bedroom was extremely risky. I cringed as I saw how long he lingered at the window, first showing both sides of his note and then pulling out the ring. I have no doubt he passed out or reflexively swallowed water as he tried to rise 32 feet to the surface. That is relatively deep to dive and so dangerous. May he rest in peace.

Some people either don't know or they don't think about it, but breathing can be both voluntary and involuntary as a protection to us if we happen to pass out. He probably stayed under water a few seconds too long and his involuntary breathing kicked in before he came out of the water. He appears to be a good swimmer, but in matters of our involuntary bodily functions, it makes no difference. Very sad and very heartbreaking for those who loved him.
@mbryson2899

Swimming was a required part of PE when I was in high school 40+ years ago. Water safety was a large part, and involuntary breathing was repeatedly stressed. I was stunned that it was no longer required by the time our kids hit that age. We'd taught our kids to swim starting around age three, and constantly reiterated water safety. Some of their friends, though, hadn't been taught; I ended up teaching the ones who were interested and whose parents gave consent. I also taught one kid's parents and his little sisters. I worked in a hospital for five years, and was surprised by the number of swimmers we got in the ER who had no idea about involuntary breathing. I was also surprised at how many people can't swim at all.

They didn't teach it in our schools back in the 1960-70s, but the city park did have free swimming days to help kids learn how to swim. My mom also enrolled me in a swimming class through the city park. I think personally that it is parental neglect not to teach children how to be safe in water and swim since one never knows when a situation will require you know it. There's a bit of irony to the wording on the shirt Emma wore the day she killed her father, Daniel. "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." Regardless, it's always mind-blowing to hear about such young children commiting these types of acts, especially when there wasn't any abuse (that we know of in this particular instance) to push the child toward doing something like that. Even more mind-blowing may be the coordination to do such a thing with another child that she'd reportedly never met, as well as her plan to drive 230 miles to meet a boyfriend. Honestly, it's all highly disturbing, but it's the age thing that I'm having the hardest time wrapping my head around.

One day I was going to work early in the morning, driving on the highway, here in Portugal. Suddenly two kids, whom I later learned were 21 and 19 years old, drove pass me in a Porsche Boxter, top down, laughing, having fun. I smiled. A few kms later I saw them under a huge quarry truck, the car didn't even break, they were decapitated, I saw the whole thing. The truck was driving slowly, very slowly on the left lane, illegally. I called my workplace and told them I could make it to work. I spent the whole morning near a riverbank thinking about the ephemerality of life, crying. I had just had my first child. I'm a grown man and I cried for days. It's been 23 years. My heart still goes tiny when I think about them and their families. Traumatic.

Lutch, can you *PLEASE* upload "Top Creepiest Places on Earth", somewhere I can access it. It is much in demand! Lots of people are looking for it. Edit just to add, it was your vid that got taken down by yt a while back.
