In this video due to viewer requests we are going to compare 11.1 and 7.4v Titan LI-ION batteries with their LIPO counterparts. This time we are going to primarily look at any difference in Rounds per Second or RPS through the chrono.
I've done many videos on batteries and in particular LI-ION batteries. So hopefully this video will give you some more ammunition when you are shopping for Airsoft batteries for use in your AEG.
My testing is only really for my use case in that I am testing against the batteries I will be replacing with LI-ION. This way I will physically see if there is any detriment to the performance I will be getting. I hope this will help you in a real world use case.
I hope you enjoy this video. If you would like more content from me then check out Rock Bottom Airsoft on Facebook and Instagram.
Thanks for watching.

I love my Titan Lithium Ion batteries. Go Lithium Ion... they last for years and don't need charging nealy as often as Lithium Polymer which has saved me a lot of money (as I tend to forget lol).

How can you fit the 11.1V 3000mAh inside the stock? that battery looks really big
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 2 ай бұрын
The 11.1 is a large battery. For AR based replicas with a buffer tube the only way to fit it is down the tube. The stock can't be at its minimum adjustment is the downside. If you have solid stocks that are full size, such as M16 it will fit with no issues. To be honest I wish I'd gone for the cranestock version they do.

Hey Rick bottom, do you know if Titan makes any small lion batteries that would fit into like a scorpion evo?
@rockbottomairsoft

Hi. I will be honest. I don't have a lot of experience with the evo. I don't have one in my collection yet. I know that they are a great replica but as for battery size the only thing I do know is that it's tight for space. Here is a link to Titans battery fitment guide with all the size measurements: titanbatteries.com/blogs/news/airsoft-battery-fitment-guide-for-titan-power-batteries Hope this helps.

any idea if the 7.4v 3000mAh deans battery would be safe to use in a stock TM NGRS Mk18 (with deans mod)?
@rockbottomairsoft

It shouldn't cause a problem. 7.4v LI-ION is quite low discharge rate or C rating so you should be fine.

Thanks for your video, if I use a 11V batterie for a old Tokyo Marui Aug wich normally requires a 8.4V batterie will it damage the intern if I only shoot semi and no fullauto ?
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft Жыл бұрын
Hi. Using a higher voltage battery will always increase wear whether you fire semi only or full auto. This is due to the gearbox cycling more rapidly. The motor will take more strain, trigger contacts will have increased arcing leading to premature failure and the list goes on. Now, normally I would say that using the 11.1 is fine, just expect internals to wear out more rapidly. However in this case if the TM is old, then I think you will be asking for trouble running it on an 11.1. I hope this helps.

I have ICS tuned-up replica with 550 fps on 0.2 (roughly 2.6J on 0.4 I'm using), would li-ion 11.1v be powerful enough to shoot with such spring? Corrently I'm using Redox 3000 mah 11.1V lipo battery, but I'd like to have a stick to hide it in the stock.
@rockbottomairsoft

Hi. Generally the current output capabilities of LI-ION chemistry will be slightly lower than Lipo. However I don't see any reason why an 11.1 LI-ION would not be able to run your set up. So my answer would be yes.

Thanks for the video. Seems like it’s not a huge difference. I am new and looking for a battery technology to start with. I am not an indoor speedsoft crazy rof person. I just play outdoors mostly with semi but switch to full auto in some instances like for providing cover fire. I’m starting to think the lithium ion tech is better for what my use will be. No worrying about keeping the battery healthy or storing at a certain capacity or looking for swelling. But maybe just getting two batteries and being able to not need to recharge them that often and not risk going dead mid game. BUT the beauty with this is that I can buy BOTH and do my own testing and switch at will! If I make a decision now I could always go back and buy lipo if I want to. FREEDOM BABY!
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. It certainly doesn't seem to be a huge difference to me. Obviously on paper the output current can be lower. But like you say for most instances here in the UK it seems like they are more than up to the task. I've not encountered any issues and they certainly make the experience much easier. Like you say you can always try out lipo as well. I still use lipos in some instances and in most cases they will give you zero issues as well. With a decent charger you can keep your options open.

Basically a decent balance charger is what you need. I like Turnigy but there are loads out there. For lipo you want something that allows storage charging. You want control over the charging current so you can do both as well. I did a video quite a while ago on chargers. I will get the link.

I feel your pain on this one. The US stores very often have parts and items that I can not get hold of here in the UK. My main go to's for parts and replicas though are: www.bullseyecountrysport.co.uk/ www.landwarriorairsoft.com/ www.airsoftworld.net/ And finally my home site Tazball Airsoft can get hold of most items for me. As to the Lancers it might be best to have a chat with your favourite retailer and see if they could get one in. Surprisingly I've had items I can't get anywhere using Google but my retailer has been able to get it in. Bullseye are usually very accommodating if you have a chat with them. I hope this helps.

I think li-ion batteries are more safer than Li-Po. No explosion. What is your opinion about that ?
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft Жыл бұрын
I agree that generally LI-ION is more forgiving than LIPO. They have a hard case so it is much harder to cause mechanical damage to them(puncture, etc), they can be run completely down and not become unstable, they don't strictly need to be left in storage charge to prevent them becoming unstable and they are more forgiving for battery charger settings, generally 1.5 amps or less on a Titan battery so no need to get mixed up on c settings. However just like any battery there are still good practices to follow. To be fair LIPO are pretty safe as long as you follow good battery safety. I ultimately think LI-ION is safer in general though for airsoft use as it takes a bit of human error out of the equation.
@hakont.4960
@hakont.4960 Жыл бұрын
Li-ion cells can actually literally explode, li-po cells will just burn, this is because of how the cells are made. Li-ion cells are supposed to have a safety valve to release pressure if they overheat, but this valve doesn't alway work correctly, especially in cheaper cells. Li-po battery cells will vent excess pressure regardless and will just burn.
@hakont.4960
@hakont.4960 2 жыл бұрын
Welp, seems like little has changed, they can still just keep up with mediocre stick li-po's. Compare them to RC grade li-po's that are simlarly priced and they will fall short.
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, a similarly priced RC lipo will normally have a higher output capability. However it depends on what you want from your battery as well. In the case that the output of the LI-ION battery is sufficient for your needs it does offer a simpler user experience and usually higher capacity in a reasonably sized package. However if output current and/or size is what you need then Absolutely LIPO wins hands down.

The lipo one is too fast for corno so I would say it's around 20rps as my old broken G&G rk74 cqb was doing 24 rps with 11.1v 1450mah 20c battery
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 2 жыл бұрын
I would agree that this is more than possible. Looking at various communities it seems that the rof bounces around this value on average. I'm going to have to look into some more comprehensive testing, with a larger spread of results averaged out. Thanks for your input.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like the testing method used. I will be honest this test was not designed as an absolute definitive, end of kind of discussion. My main aim has been to show any difference that has been noticed in real world use. In the video I don't show a lot of chrono results. As many viewers will know I tend to prefer testing in the field. I prefer the "feel" of the item in game and if it serves my purpose. I agree though. Good methodology would require substantial tests, not just multiple chrono reads of rps. We would need to look at charge cycle reliability, current output and consistency. The list goes on. In this video it was really just a quick look at what we get over the chrono. Thanks for watching.
