ok so, the 11.1v titan battery is not even close to being as snappy as an 11.1v lipo... yes its safer, but performance is lacking. a 7.4v lipo cycles my gun the same as the 11.1v titan battery.
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft Жыл бұрын
In some cases this may be possible. It can be very dependant on the lipo being used. As you probably know there are a vast array of different lipo batteries. MAH, C rating and even brand can all have an impact on the performance of a lipo. The Titan batteries all gave a set c rating and so it is of course possible to get a higher output lipo. In my case I found that there was little notable difference between a similar spec lipo and titan for response but of course there is more choice with lipo.

Hi. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. To be honest there are benefits to both. For convenience you can't beat LI-ION. But if you want maximum output and a slightly smaller size it's LIPO. I've steadily moved to LI-ION myself. For voltage your replica will handle either, 11.1 will give better trigger response but slightly faster wear and tear. 7.4 will be slightly smaller but less performance.

I couldn't notice much difference between the lipo and the Li-ion on the Specna. In the tuned airsoft gun, I thought it may have been slightly quicker in full auto. Would have to get it in a chrono to confirm, but doubt you would notice a difference in the field. So if I wanted a battery to go all day then the Li-ion would make sense, as if it runs all the way down no issue? But that's not good for a lipo

It was previously always the case that NiMH where known to exhibit memory effects if regularly charged when not fully depleted. However this isn't such an issue with newer NiMH batteries. One thing NiMH does have is voltage droop. This means the output of the battery reduces as the charge level reduces.

If an 11.1 LIPO is not an option in a particular replica. An 11.1 LI-ION would also not be an option. That being said there are very few replicas that you can't use an 11.1 battery with. All replicas will be worn out more rapidly with an 11.1, how quickly failure occurs can be down to a lot of factors. Generally though if you wouldn't be happy using an 11.1 lipo in a replica you wouldn't be any safer with an 11.1 LI-ION. Hope this helps.

@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft Жыл бұрын
Hi. Okay, as is usually the case in Airsoft it's not a straight answer, so here we go. Any battery choice depends on what it will need to power or be used for. Lipo can without a doubt provide more power if it is required. So if you are going for a build with a powerful motor, heavy spring and crazy rates of fire/power then in those cases you will get maximum performance with a lipo, LI-ION may still work but the performance in this case will be better with a LIPO. On the other hand if you are going to be using a standard replica or a mildly upgraded replica then the LI-ION will be better as it will last much longer, is much more forgiving with regard to the care taken with it and can be run absolutely flat with no adverse affects. I have used Titan LI-ION batteries for over a year now in various builds and have been really impressed. They still last a whole day for me. The performance difference between an equivalent lipo and these is negligible and unnoticeable. I see the same comments that you mention and some of the arguments may have some merit but for the average use that most of us have with our airsoft replicas the Titans are fine. I tend to use the LI-ION batteries far more than my lipo batteries these days. Hope this helps.

I don't plan on running insane setups, I might boost the motor an install a perun hybrid v2, but Im mostly after trigger response. RPS means nothing to me, I just want trigger response and accuracy. The Titan power battery seems like a great investment for my kid that isn't gonna be the most responsible about keeping his lipo batteries going, when I could buy 1 or 2 titan batteries and never have to worry bc of the capacity. There's only 1 indoor course near me, but I think even then full auto is banned. I think the Titan battery would make a nice purchase unless there is something I am missing. I completely agree. I think for the use you've described the Titan batteries would be more than capable. I also agree about the ease of use. They will function fine if they have been run flat unlike a lipo, they are less likely to go pop and are far more forgiving in general. I play outdoor and one 3000 mah 7.4 or 11.1 will last me the whole skirmish day. They cost more than the equivalent lipo but I think in the long run they will serve you well.

@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 2 жыл бұрын
You can certainly use 11.1 with the edge. As to recommend it or not then that gets us on to why I use 7.4. I have been moving away from 11.1 steadily. It will generally put more strain on your electrical system. As you are increasing the power to your motor on an otherwise standard replica you are increasing the wear characteristics of that gearbox. In that I mean I would normally shim a box myself and carry out my own lubrication before going for higher rate of fire. If I have the box open anyway I tend to try to do work on a box that gets me the rate of fire I want while still only using 7.4 batteries. So for my unopened standard specna, I stick with 7.4 however if I wanted to increase response and rate of fire I would certainly try 11.1 on it. So that is why I tend to use 7.4 wherever I can these days. I would think you would be fine on an 11.1 Titan though. I hope this helps.

Nice replica, very nice. There are a lot of horror stories floating about regarding LIPO batteries. However don't let this put you off. On the whole the care that you have to take with them is not difficult and certainly easy to carry out as part of your airsoft routine. Battery wise I am more and more turning to LI-ION due to the fact that they are slightly more forgiving in the care you have to take with them. If you can physically fit a LI-ION battery then they are much easier to care for, usually have larger capacities but are more expensive. However if space will not allow, LIPO is certainly the best option. If you check out my videos I have a section based on batteries and electrical system there are a few videos on battery tech there and also a video on LIPO care which hopefully will tell you all you need to know to care for LIPO batteries. Ion batteries are actually more dangerous than lipo batteries when it comes to airsoft. Tesla runs on ion batteries, but tesla has advanced BCM(battery control modules) to protect them from exploding. Lipo batteries have built in protection. It is called puffing up. Ion batteries just explode. In airsoft we don't have BCMs on our airsoft guns, although some have low voltage warnings. That is why power tool batteries cost so much, they have a computer inside them. Lipo batteries are much safer, as long as you use them correctly. People change the spring, motors, and gears but keep the same battery which requires more amperage than the lipo can supply. This is the main reason lipos puff up. Most people have smart chargers now, so that is not a huge problem anymore. Titan ion batteries are just Sony 18650s with shrink wrap that says Titan on them. They are actually only 6.6C not the "15C" that they advertise. Really it is a scam company. I have a build that I put the biggest Titan battery in and got 12RPS less than a lipo of equal "sticker rating". Ion batteries are best suited for high voltage low amperage applications with a proper BCM. Batteries are the most underrated upgrade in airsoft. You cant use a buffer tube lipo in a DSG or DMR safely. Battery will get hot, which causes them to puff up.
@rockbottomairsoft
@rockbottomairsoft 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I would have to disagree with a lot of your points here. But hey that's discussion. I absolutely agree that many devices have battery monitoring and control systems. Mobile phones, laptop computers, smart devices to name but a few. However to say that a lipo is safer as it puffs up would be inaccurate in my opinion. All batteries have the capability to explode as you put it, if they are mistreated or disposed of incorrectly, this is not just for lithium technologies. Now let me from the outset say that I am not showing preference to any battery at this point. I use both lipo and LI-ION depending on the use case. However puffing can be caused by a number of factors not just drawing to much current. The problem that causes ignition is if that puffed lipo ruptures and contacts oxygen. So that chance is reduced in a hard case, less chance of mechanical damage is present. Both LI-ION and LIPO should be charged using a smart charger so that issue is present for both. As for low voltage, that is not such an issue for LI-ION as they can be completely discharged without damaging the battery. This is not the case with LIPO. As for not providing the current required. If you are building a dsg or heavy build then obviously in that situation will choose a battery suitable to your requirements. I think the point I am making is that all battery technologies have a risk involved, even AA's it's all about the level of risk and treating your power supply with the respect and treatment it requires.
@pauls.5815
@pauls.5815 3 жыл бұрын
@@rockbottomairsoft I said Lipo is safer than ion, assuming they are both being used correctly. It is just a fact, not something to agree or disagree with. "Q: Are lithium-polymer batteries safe? A: Yes. Lithium-polymer is even safer than lithium-ion, as there’s less risk of leaking the electrolytic component." Look up any study. Also, it is pretty harmful to discharge a ion battery all the way, even though these con men at Titan make it sound like it is okay to do so. The discharge rate of ion batteries are not suitable for most airsoft guns. Most ion batteries are used in high voltage low current applications, or low current, high capacity applications. Don't let engineered marketing fool you. I have DSGs that get around 12RPS less than an equal "sticker rating" lipo battery. That can cause big problems if someone used it continually in a scenario like that. They say they are "made 100% in USA" but when you take the Titan wrap off, you see that they are Sony 18650s, which are made in China. They purposely mislead people. Why not say "assembled in USA with global components" If you are too lazy to take care of a lipo battery, you probably don't need to play airsoft. That takes away any "advantage" of a ion battery, in airsoft. Tesla uses Ion batteries, and that is fine. They operate at very low current and very high voltage. They also have BCM for protection, and they still catch on fire. 6C is not enough discharge for airsoft, I dont care how much mAh they have. Over discharging any type of battery is bad, lipo too. You are just way less likely to over discharge a lipo, due to the higher discharge rate. We need to make airsoft safe for people. I don't think selling a ion battery and saying "you never have to worry about" it is a good idea. This just leads to battery neglect and can be dangerous. Titan is wrong for what they advertise.

I'm having issues with locking up in the gearbox trying to fugue out if it is the titan battery or not

I put an m110 in that particular replica if I remember rightly. So it's not massively stiff. It's only a single sector gear in it but it's 12:1 and high torque motor so does put a fair load on the battery. Are you using 11.1 or 7.4? Depends on the lock up but a few things can cause it.

I'm using an M120 in mine with high torque motor and gears. It is a 11.1 battery

I can't imagine it would be the battery that's causing the problem but of course it's a possibility. What I would recommend is to fault find by eliminating the obvious. Strip the box, check shimming is on point, check nothing can bind, check no screws have worked loose such as piston head and so forth. Before all that though, if you suspect a lack of power see if you can get hold of a higher discharge battery(within reason) and see if that solves the problem. Sorry If I'm stating stuff your already know.

I've checked all the obviouse stuff already like screws, piston, head and the shimming, I man I'm not an exoe by any means but I've sort of narrowed it down to the battery not having the power to pull back the spring or the programing on the titan mosfet not being set up right. That being said it's only an M120 so it really shouldn't need that much power to pull it back haha. I'm at wits end with it 😂
