Thank you very much. One thing to keep in mind with ChatGpt is that it will respond differently to the same prompt so my text might not work for you but you can give it a shot. A good thing to make sure you’re doing is commanding chat to dm the game for you instead of requesting or asking it to. Here’s a shorter version of my prompt: First I say to make me a character using the 5e rules. I then edit the character as much as I want and then say “You are an expert Dungeon Master with all the knowledge of additions 3.5, 4 and 5e of dungeons and dragons. This includes all of the rules for combat, character creation, lore and all other necessary dungeons and dragons information needed to dungeon master a game. I want you, as an expert dungeon master, to run a dungeons and dragons 5th edition campaign with me as your only player, playing the character we just created. I will speak for and make all decisions for (insert character name) and you will control and speak for all npcs in the world. At no point should you try to end the story. This means I will tell you when the story will end.”

@@_emory For me I asked it to make me a character (save your character sheet in a notepad document or something because you cant rely on gpt to make changes to it) and then after the character was made just a simple "Can you Dungeon Master a D&D 5E game for me using my character (character name)?" I didn't get any complaints from that prompt the couple of times I have run it. You can also add on additional information like ""Can you Dungeon Master a D&D 5E game in the style and setting of a David Gemmell Novel Focusing on Norse Mythology for me using my character (character name)?" You can also ask it to run a session 0 with you before you make your character where you set out what kind of campaign it will be, the setting, and create your character etc, not sure how long it will hold to that since it likes to change things up a lot, but you can always pull it back in line with a prompt reminding it of what it was meant to be.

Yup. This is the simplest method and using something similar has given me good results. I’ve even had it walk me through character creation which was interesting. Sometimes if it isn’t working it could be as easy as opening a new chat and trying again. I’d recommend including a statement about not making decisions for you or speak for your character. It often will try to narrate through the story by itself.
