I had an ABS light come pop up on my 86 BMW 325 es. I was fortunate enough to run into a BMW mechanic who was doing side work ln the street and he pointed me to the left front wheel bearing area. I also remember having no breaking issues and he remarked that on my particular model it was a common problem. I unscrewed the old one put in a new one and the ABS light went off. I am no mechanic but always thought it to be a good idea to get a service manual for every car I had. Now with KZfaq you really don’t need to buy one. Thank you for the video.

Great job ! The speed sensor returns a voltage which is proportional to the wheel speed and the voltages from all the wheels have to be in the same range. It uses a magnetic circuit where there is a magnet inside a coil and when the reluctance wheel rotates it deforms the magnetic field with each tooth of the gear (not a gear but may look like one) This causes a back and forth current in the coil which is read as an AC voltage that is proportional to wheel speed. Pretty cool !!

2:48 I didn’t know this but wondered if it had another name. Some people will throw out names of things knowing it’s called something else but don’t have the patience to give you the other name while teaching. Anyway I’m super glad she just taught this

This video was very helpful. I’m actually dealing with an issue like this at my job and I replaced the wheel speed sensor because there wasn’t one on there and then come to find out it’s the eccentric ring that was broken. This video was very helpful.

Over here in Sweden/Stockholm there are just a few workshops that can work on american cars. Mine’s a Cadillac CTS and I have to wait for a month to get a time to service it. This video helped me and cleared things up for me. Great job!

My abs light was due to bad bearings. Put a new hub on and it was good to go.

This was the THE MOST simplified, thorough explanation of a repair or issue of a vehicle I have ever seen. Nicely done. I am going to subscribe because of your video. I'm trying repair a 2010 prius with the abs light on. I don't want to a mechanic or dealer if I can do it myself. I know they are going to try to up charge me. That grinding sound you mentioned here, does that come on instantly when you're driving or when you reach a certain speed? My car is having this weird sound, abs VSC light came on but now it's off and I mostly hear it when I press on the gas pedal and when it reaches speeds 30 mph and over. but also hear it just cruising. 2010 Toyota Corolla LE 1.8

I am dealing with ABS light on my dashboard, and I changed all 4 ABS sensors. One of the rear wheel bearings was the worst from the other ones. If my ABS light doesn't go away after I reset my truck, I will definitely look into the wheel bearings because they look pretty beaten up. Thank you for this incredibly informative video 😊.

I just had new tires put on my truck and abs/stablitrack light was on immediately after turning on truck. I told guy that put tires on and he says oh something must be in hub causing it. I finally got around to searching and found the crimped wire he hit while putting wheel on. Newer truck and the wire runs over upper ball joint so I can see how it could happen. They are at least paying for new sensor but not my time to install

I have and 05 Saturn Relay/Chevy Uplander a few years ago a mechanic replaced my CV joints and wheel bearing and hub, and when I drove home this ABS light was on, wasn't on before the new wheel bearings. Anyhow I watched the Scotty Kilmore channel about it he says if the ABS light is on means your ABS system won't operate but your vehicle will still stop. It's been on for over two years, last week I had my front brakes and rotors serviced by a mechanic he replaced all of the brakes and just mentioned that my ABS wasn't operating but didn't suggest me to bother repair it. To date vehicle is riding ok the light is on but seems to stop. If it's just and expensive sensor then maybe I will check the wrecker yard to see if I can get a few there.

Yes most of the time it the quick disconnect to the hub assembly or also known as wheel bearing but it's really called hub assembly

Would my brake seizing slightly cause a kia abs light to go on? I've replaced the sensors and reluctor rings but the light is still on, but I had a slightly seizing brake and it was so bad at one point that the brake pad was completely worn after a year. I managed to get rid of some of the seizing but I think it's still slightly seizing

What direction would you suggest looking for symptoms being ABS light on, and upon only foreward motion and slight pressure to pedal that all 4 wheels lock up tight? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. ('00 Dodge Ram van) edit: slight pressure to brake pedal

Thank you very much. alot I need to repair. now I know. Problems been there for 3 months and ABS light came on bout 2 weeks ago. Its my hub and I think that its doing exactly that to the brake pads and rotar etc. SMH. I got laid off about a week after I damaged that front right hub bearing.

I wrongly thought ❤ if the ABS light is “on” then the ABS isn’t working. Apparently it can continue to operate. In CA a “CEL” is an auto smog Fail, but ABS isn’t required.

Hi how are you, assuming there is continuity from the sensor to the abs computer and live data shows 0 when the vehicle is in motion and the wheel does not rock indicating a bad bearing should I assume the computer went bad?

Can you please answer this one question? I'm trying to do my own hub. Removal. I forgot to put in the snappings before I pressed the hub into the knuckle, so I banged out the hub just enough to wear. I can put a snappering where it's supposed to go. Butbi cant? I I saw in your video that you were actually putting your Snap ring in the same spot? I was except I don't see how it's possible for it to bend and get into that spot, so I wanted to confirm with you that it is possible to make it Bend to where it will go into the snappering position

I have a Toyota Highlander 2009 4wd and I changed my axle for the driver side last Saturday, after that the car ran good but all the time the ABS light comes on sometimes coming on and off every 20 to 30 minutes. Do you know what I need to do?

Hell all 4 of my sensors are shot. I went to reset them thought maybe that was the prob and it wouldnt process after the first instruction. Its been over a year now i chamged the breaks tried about everything. Ive always been told speed sensors arent necessary. Glad to know i better get them. Also, i have a lot of break dust on the front wheels is that temhe issue?

My mom came to me because her abs would activate every now and then when she would brake, I took a look at it and there was rust jacking under the speed sensor. Cleaned it up and put some paint over the bare surface, problem solved (02 trailblazer)

I HAVE A 2004 FORD EXPLORER 4.0L, MY ABS LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED BUT NOW THE ABS LIGHT IS OUT AND THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. DOES THE ABS AND CRUISE CONTROL WORK TOGETHER AND CAUSE THIS PROBLEM? THANK YOU

My escalade had this issue and my wheel caught on fire in the midle of no where in I94- North fen Dakota!!! it was - 20 outside and pitch black dark. I literally thought i was going to die while waiting or the tow guy. I paid 2 thoousand for the entire break system

I’m gonna try this on my 2018 CRV. Only the ABS light came on because all the dashboard light already disappeared after replacing my old battery with new one by AAA. The technician said all the light will disappear after a mile of driving. It did except the ABS. Wish me luck.

My ABS light was on and after changing all breaks and rotors and speed sensors I found the problem was the magnetic disk in the bearings that reads the speed sensors where broken and corroded away. I changed my bearings, and the ABS light went out.

I am facing abs issue with my 2006 camry. Abs light pop-up once a week due to some reason. Checked code at a car parts shop it is showing c0200, c0210, c0215 and c1330. When i took the car at a repair shop they said to come back when abs light goes up again. Now don't know what to do
